Nice axes.. why would the standard have circuit board wiring and the modern have the classic wiring? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the standard to have classic wiring set up?..
Imho the best year is 2019 for the blueberry fade. Sg Modern. Plays amazing and I have had quite a few sgs. No tuning issues like the SG, although I love them. ❤
I just don’t understand why you can’t get an SG and dirty lemon burst. Can anybody tell me why lol dirty lemon seems to be the hardest finish to come by for these guys. I actually have an SG and Argentina burst love that got it from the B.B. King Lucille I wanted something to match it after spending so much money on it so I paid for that paint job from Gibson and it was an extra $1200 back then, but I can’t imagine spending that much on top of the cost of this guitar. Just wondered if anybody knew why that finish was so difficult to get. 1:08
I love the SG. I prefer the classic standard but I think the modern is beautiful! Does the 50/50ish mashup of maple and mahogany kind of take away from the SG name?
Sg Modern, i.m.o. best Sg ever: 24 freats, not 22; push pull to split the humbuckers into single coils; Burstbuckers pro are really round humbuckers; you can can play every genre of music with this guitar, from blues to grindcore
MMmmmmmmm, I'd really like to really like the modern's specs, but... yeah, nah. Why no fret inlay on the 24th fret? And why no fret nib on the binding connecting to the frets, like on the standard?
I myself would rather have the SG Standard. But, for $1699.00. You would think Gibson Q.C. would be a little more careful about making sure a FINE STRING INSTRUMENT would be spotless under the Humbuckers!! This Musicial Instrument has a serial number "stamped" on the headstock. Take pictures of workmanship and reply back to Nashville Tenn.😠
thats a late 2018 early 2019 with the pcb board very shitty time for gibson. i think that is actually a 2018 judging by the pick ups too. gibson changed in 2019, for the better. went back to the Original Collection.
@@melvinsfan 2021? PCB? I know the SG tribute had the PCB. I didn't think the standard had it I just bought a 2022 exclusive run SG in aged cherry finish and it is hand wired orange drop caps
I was waiting to hear a sound comparison, a fairly critical aspect right?
I know right ! These are all about the sound !
Yeah.... Wth 😂. I want my 5 minutes back
Thanks for all the info. Your comparison shows you really need both.
That blueberry is sooo nice 👍
Very nice. Thanks for the comparison.
Hi, thanks for this great content. you have any idea what year is the SG modern made with blue back and what when they switch to black back?
Nice axes.. why would the standard have circuit board wiring and the modern have the classic wiring? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the standard to have classic wiring set up?..
good grief, that blueberry modern looks way better in your video than the usual stills pictures
Why do they have locking tuners instead of the kluson deluxe tuners?
My bday on that standard neck pick up. Cool!
Is the fret size different on these two?

It’s small but I’d be upset about the missing baby photo lol
i wish they offered an ebony fretboard with the SG standard
Id be happy with round neck without full bat guard, better pickups and pots.
The people at the Nashville plant could have given them a going over with a dust devil before they left Q.C.

ok but no sound
I just want to say the burstbuckers pro sound really bright
Any chance you still have the modern? Curious if the neck glows under black light. Mine doesn’t and that’s a first for me for Gibson
It does not glow in the dark.
@@guitarswithdavid4422hey David can I get a 🫐 one
Very informative, but where’s the tone demo?
I have both the modern just has some more highs and maybe a tad hotter

Cause rather than preserving history they assume it is going to be regretted constantly
The Modern is supposed to be plekked. Might explain the board seeming dry
What does that mean?
The saw dust under the pickup guard changed my mind about buying a Gibson at this time... For the cost I expect better.
I have the standard. It has a hard time with sustain. Going to buy a modern. Thinking the maple cap on the modern will cure the lack of sustain.
Check the height of your pickups first.
Also, do you have a bone nut? They’re supposed to help with a few things, but mainly sustain.
It appears that Gibson has some quality control issues these days. Too bad.
And that dried out board is upsetting too 😢
Glad my moderns board came better lookin then that, fuy at the factory must have had a lazy day
Pretty shocking that you have to clean and treat the fretboards of such expensive guitars 🤷🏼
More like a reliable disappointment...
The modern has a two octave fret board......24 frets vs the standards 22
Also no fret end nibs.
I have the blueberry modern it is a great guitar
Call gibson and they can send you a baby photo

It’s a 2019
I have a 2021 standard. It’s the exact same as this SG.
