The short version is nobody male or female can make that sound with their vocal cords without destroying them. Instead the false cords aka vestibular folds are used. The technique is called "false cord growls." It takes years to learn how to form words and sing like that but Tati's been building the skills to do that for over half her life starting at 15 and she's 34. All the good things and all the bad things is a general description of Jinjer's body of work - ok mostly the bad things, sometimes the outer bad stuff and sometimes inner. Home Back for example is about their hometown getting caught in the war in eastern Ukraine. Pisces is about her inner turmoil, through the lens of her Pisces astrology sign and the duality it represents. I recommend something in concert next to see them on stage, such as Perennial live at Wacken. Their newest release is called Vortex. Pisces gets the most views cuz everyone loves seeing Jinjer virgings run into that vocal ambush, but their most popular song among the fans is probably Teacher Teacher. Subbed. Cheers!
@Jeffrey Fisher Thanks for all your comments, we appreciate then and the support. We know of Wacken due to our "Nightwish" reactions and also "Leo Moracchioli" :) A concert one would be a good one to follow up with as we like to see bands live too. Also thanks for the info on the "Growl" I did watch the Leo video before I edited this just to make sure we did not get it totally wrong and then get hit with all the comments about the technique...pheeew that could have been messy. Hoep you enjoy the channel and check out some of our other reactions, we do go all over the place.
Jeffrey is one of our Jinjer experts... most anything he says is gold... that said Retrospective (official music video) is my all time favorite. And as a bonus she starts the song in her native tongue
I felt the same when I first encountered Tatiana. But she is a seriously accomplished singer. Her metal scream voice doesn't use the vocal cords - it's called a false cord voice, and uses the laryngial muscles above the vocal folds. It's a totally healthy, non-damaging style and it's how she is able to return to normal voice instantly. I've seen Jinjer a couple of times and I love them. I promise (hope) they will grow on you, because their music is extraordinary. There is 100% NO FILTER involved. That is pure Tatiana. Next - maybe I speak Astronomy. Perhaps when you get more into them, Sit, Stay, Roll over. There's a cute dog on that one.
@donepearce Cheers Don, you are a dark horse, you must have know we were going to fall into reacting to these at some stage and you kept quiet. Where on earth did you get to see these guys? I did follow up on a bit of research before I posted the video just to check it out and make sure we didn't make complete fools of ourselves and I watched Tatiana giving a few interviews and also the Leo. We do try and get some things right, not all!! Cheers
Yes, this is the queen of demons. 😁 Jinjer is great. Normally I don't like growling, but here it provides variety and is not the main part of the song. Teacher Teacher shows much more Tatjana's versatility. There is much more variety in it.
@Coyote Ahh, you kept quiet about these guys!! This one we could manage as there were hard and soft parts, not sure we could take it if it was hard all the way. We are much too delicate for that. We just about manage NW.. Oh, we will be back with more from them soon. Thanks for watching
@@BritPopsReact If thats so i would recomend Jinjer Judgement and Punishment it is a nice mix to would recomend this version "JINJER - Judgement (& Punishment) - Tatiana Shmayluk - One Take Vocal Performance" ruclips.net/video/Q5rg_63Shqg/видео.html
@@kgbcorvette I know that there was layering done in post production, but that doesn't change the fact that the growl is 100% Tatiana. There is no philter, or anything used to help produce the growl. The post production stuff is mainly doubling her voice in a few select places so that her cleans, and growls are blended, and such.
Here comes the Jinjer Army. It is not a filter. Tatiana is a vocal goddess. The musicianship of the band is outstanding. To see how good they are, react to their live performances. I would suggest "Perennial" live at Wacken and "Who is going to be the One" (live, Napalm records) I personally think "Teacher, Teacher" (official video) showcases the band at their best (though others will disagree). You asked about the style of music. Their songs can easily have influences from two or three genres. It is easier to classify it as Jinjer.
@Jeff Wellman Thank you for the comment and for watching. We have had as you can expect a lot of suggestions where to go next and we think we would like to check out a live version. Perennial seems to be well suggested. More soon.
As this is a proper studio production, there are doubled vocal layers and general polish, but no filters or effects to make this sound - that's an actual vocal technique. There are actually a few different techniques to choose from, if you want to scream and growl in a healthy and safe way. This recording however, was actually a re-recording of an older song, to show off their (at the time) new drummer. The song itself is one of two personal songs about her. It's basically a metaphorical song about her personality, Pisces being her zodiac sign she signs about the two contrasting parts of herself. One of the Pisces symbols are two fish swimming in opposite directions, so this song has a lot of duality themes (including the vocals) and oceanic references. This is one of their calmer songs, but a mixture of clean and harsh vocals is kinda her shtick and there is generally a lot of diversity and surprises between and within their songs. I'll leave my usual Jinjer recommendations if you want to check out more (including live stuff). Official video suggestions: Teacher, Teacher Vortex I Speak Astronomy Cloud Factory Retrospection No Hoard Of Value (official lyric video) Home Back Sit Stay Roll Over Live suggestions: Perennial live at Wacken Who Is Gonna Be The One live On The Top live in Kiev Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev Judgement & Punishment (one take vocal performance)
@Dark Thoughts Thank you for the great comment and all the information on the song breakdown, very informative. Also, we will be back with a follow up reaction soon and we appreciate all the song suggestions you have listed. Thanks for watching.
@one42chrisp Yup, that certainly woke us up and they are not "Tears for Fears" 😂 The band are also very good and this was our firt time hearing them. We will do a follow up soon. Thanks for watching, we appreciate it.
Think I need help, I never get tired of watching faces of people who listen to Jinjer for the first time 😂 Seriously, get Perennial at Wacken, nice showcase for her range, or Vortex and Teacher Teacher for the full package of musicality.
@OldManWithABow Thanks for the comment and I can totally understand why, I keep going back to my colleagues face and it makes me laugh each time. They are very good and it may not be totally our "cup of tea" but we gave it a good listen and could appreciate the skill involved. We will do more from Jinjer soon. Thanks for watching.
@@BritPopsReact that being said, when you mentioned T4F, there is a guitar tone or chord phrase in Pisces that is reminiscent to I think, "Everyboday wants to rule the world". I could hear what you were talking about.
HA HA HA! This never gets old (3:42)! Tatijana used to be a teacher - imagine THAT voice bawling out the class clown ?(no filter - that's all her!) ..segue Jinjer song "Teacher, Teacher" (Eugene = Tyrion Lannister on bass!)... Mood swings! - EXACTLY! Pisces - 2 fish! Dichotomy.. My partner was bipolar and a Pisces - this song fits her so well! This song was mainly to show off Vlad as their drummer! I'm still laughing! ROFLMAO! The band "Ignea" is also from Ukraine and well worth a look! Tell Helle that Damo sent you!
@Damien Maynard Cheers as always for the great comment. Okeydokey, "Helle" you say, will do. We may check those out soon, we have lot going on but will see where we go. Take it easy mate
@Timo Musyal Thanks you for the comment and the recommendation. We would like to follow up with a live concert song, so that may be the one. Stay tuned.
Yes! Teacher Teacher is great, but it isn't a live concert recording, but rather a collection of clips from various live performances seamlessly merged together, with a single (studio?) track on top. Perennial (not parennial - that's a typo) is a much better in showing off Tatjana truly live.
About her voice, it's layered a bit, but the depth and sound is all perfect technique. She switches back and forth flawlessly live, and even takes it higher with a fry scream a lot as well. She can also rap if you can believe it. Just an all around talent. I saw someone else suggest Teacher, Teacher and I second that suggestion.
Jinjer rabbit hole is DEEP. Check out jinjer- perennial live at wacken. You can see in concert. It’s all her. Also always pull the lyrics up after, great songwriting
No filter. It’s a technique - false chords and vocal fry. This whole band is awesome. There’s lots of female singers that use this technique in metal - the Agonist; Abnormality, Konvent, Arch Enemy to name a few…
@Divedown25 Thanks for the comment. It is a very performed song, not usually "Our cup of Tea" and the shock factor was massive. We will go back soon and do a live performance to see how that goes. Thanks for watching.
Step forward and meet a new sunrise A coward is shivering inside Today I'll be a friend of mine Who swallows suffering with smile I drew a different reality With unconditional loyalty Ego hardly can be piqued 'Cause I'm selfless Scale armour blaze Virgin innocence One being brings life Another runs for death Scale armour blaze Virgin innocence One being brings life Another runs for death No promises I ever give Don't rely on me and I won't deceive The beginning or the end you can't tell When I wave my fin and shake my tail I grew in different normality With unblamable morality Hooks and nets are there for me But I'm skittish Scale armour blaze Virgin innocence One being brings life Another runs for death Scale armour blaze Virgin innocence One being brings life Another runs for death A Neptune's child shivering inside Drowns in the liquid gold Cherished his life to the underworld Meet me flashing when winter cries Pisces swimming through the river All their life against the stream Searching for a hook to catch on and see their sun beam Then suffocate in painful tortures On cutting tables of callous men Under a knife of handsome butchers Emeralds are ripped away Emeralds are ripped away Emeralds are ripped away Emeralds are ripped away
It always makes my day when I find a new reaction video for Pisces, you should go with who is gonna be the one or Perennial next and it needs to be live.
@Templarofsteel88 Hello and thank you for the recommendation. We will hope to return to Jinjer shortly, the nerves are just starting to return to normal.
The song is about duality, one part wants to stay in the water where it is safe and live the other wants to bite the hook and see the sun even if that means death.
With Jinjer, there will be tears. And there will be fear. But there's no Tears for Fears anywhere to be found! My simple take regarding her "Satanic" voice and the lyrics: If you were a selfless fish (Pisces) who wanted to see the world but was a bit skittish, and then got into the nets and was hooked by handsome butchers who proceed to rip away your scales and entrails (emeralds)... you'd growl too! So you see, sometimes the lyrics call for extreme vocals in a song. Tatiana (who's not singing as someone possessed, so you can toss the garlic back into the spaghetti sauce) wrote an incredible story and sang about it the way it deserved to be sung... as with most of her songs. Some vocalist just keep singing in their nice and charming voice even when the lyrics call out desperation. Not so with Tati. Her extreme expression - a rare ability - adds so much more to a song... especially if you follow the music with the lyrics and how the beautiful cacophony tells the story.
@Tom Clark Nice, we see what you did there!! you thought about that reply. Great comment on the breakdown of the song too, we appreciate you taking the time to post it. We will go back and follow up with "Jinjer" when we find some time and hope to do a Live Performance next. Thanks for the support.
Another Great young up coming band to watch is Alien Weaponry from New Zealand they sing in there indigenous language Maori, I recommend Kai Tangata first listen!!!!!!
Love Jinjer, I speak Astronomy or their new song Vortex are both great songs with brilliant videos. Just a thought but, Spiritbox (Holy Roller or Secret Garden are great songs/videos) could be another band you look into, seems they're going to be the next big thing in metal.
Great one guys. You'll find she uses the 'growl' superbly in context with her lyric writing. The band are so tight and you'll find them/her addictive. There's post-production in this (layering the growl) so to marvel at her pure technique...it has to be the 'Judgement And Punishment- One Take Vocal'. Astounding.
@Marko Zec Yup, you knew what was coming, we had no idea. And as for the pause it was pure luck as the guy on the left is in charge of that and often gets told off for pausing in the wrong place. He is getting better after we sent him on the "When to Pause" training sessions. Thanks for watching.
@spiderbass65 We are by no means fans of metal but we can appreciate all styles of music when it is performed well and they did a great job on this one. Thanks for watching.
@john fish Hello and thank you for watching, we would like to see a live performance and that one has been mentioned a few times. It could be coming soon. Thanks for checking out our channel.
After you do Vortex that they released a week ago, Kardavox Academy (channel for a vocal coach who teaches these techniques) just did a great breakdown of the growls that will help with understanding what she's doing. Cheers!
@Jeffrey Fisher Hello and thanks for popping in. Thanks for the great information, we will do a follow up soon to Jinjer and I will try and watch the breakdown video for my own knowledge so that I am more informed for any future songs we do in this style, really appreciate you posting that. Thanks and hope you enjoy our channel and what we do here.
This is just a few weapons in her arsenal! She has said many times that if she hears it for a song, she just does it! Throw a dart at any of there catalog and enjoy the ride!!
A short while ago I never heard of them too and even distasted growls. Now I am a big fan of this amazing and innovative band. What the hell happened, I don't know. Keep on reacting;-)
Band is the real deal and Tatiana better than male growlers.Much heavier to come and their live videos are great Pit of Consciousness live Kiev and Who is gonna be the one official live a good start
Great reaction. It's always amusing watching first time reactors' shocked faces when Tatiana starts her growls. By the way have you heard/reacted to British band Sleep Token yet? They released a new single from their forthcoming second album a couple of days ago. They are definitely worth checking out. Stay safe 🤘✌
@Brian Almeida Hi and thanks for the comment. Nope we have never heard of this band and you say they are British? I guess you have to be in the know on this style of music as it's not getting played on the radio we listen to. Thanks for the info, we will be sure to check them out.
try listen to the bass riffs, and then make a reaction on helloween keeper of the seventh key, and tell me that have taken the riffs straight from there, but tatiana is an amazing metal singer,and this is an awsome number..
I'm waiting for it. (rubbing hands together in anticipation) Yep. Every single time. lololol Tears for Fears. Yes I hear that. She's a beast of a vocalist and you got sucked right in. lol
Pisces is the zodiac sign of two fish / dual personalities. So the lyrics are amazing, and the band performed it with 2 different progressions and in 2 vocal styles is pure genius.
I would heavily recommend you watch her one-take recording for the song Crime and Punishment. if you pay attention to her body positioning when switching between vocals it will provide some insight into how she achieves such varied sounds with ease.
7:35 lyrics-wise can't wait for you guys to watch their 'Home Back' music video! BUT there are things you gotta check out first: Perennial (live) + Teacher, Teacher (official video)
Not the only one, Alissa from Arch Enemy most of the time, and Floor can and does growl but not very often. Several others I can't think of at the moment. LOL
I've been a Metal Head for as long as I can remember and I can say with confidence nobody has been able to go from an angelic voice to demonic with such class since Fear Factory the first band that pioneered it. Not only has Jinjer matched them they've totally outclassed them. Having said that if you ever get the notion to look a little deeper into this kind of music check out "Zero Signal" from Fear Factory on their "Demanufacture" album. It's a lot to take in but this is the beginning of mixing smooth and rough vocals. Also even though they are an American-based Metal band they are heavily influenced by Gary Numans' Synthpop style and sound. You'll wonder if the music can possibly be played by human beings but I can reliably inform you having seen them on this tour ( Some 25 or more years ago )that it is, and played note-perfect. Also, they did a cover of Gary Numan's "Cars" with Gary Numan.
@Reverand Bigshow Hello and thank you for the comment. We did enjoy this song and it did take us by surprise. We do hope to return to Jinjer soon, although it's not quite our usual style of music. We will try and get back there soon.
Just in case, one with no growling (one of few).... JINJER - Bad Water (Official Music Video) ruclips.net/video/cEOMJAyaV7M/видео.html and to see it all up close.... JINJER - Judgement (& Punishment) - Tatiana Shmayluk - One Take Vocal Performance ruclips.net/video/Q5rg_63Shqg/видео.html
@TexasVeteranPatriot Thank for the comment and the links. We will be interested to hear some of the songs also without the growl to see how those sound. Thanks for watching.
The problem with hearing a genre like this for the first time is you miss the musicianship that is happening . Bands like this are the new Mozart standard composers . People say to me "there is no good music anymore" I say stop listening to the radio and the charts because you are absolutely right , you will not find it there. I wish you luck on your journey . There is a huge mine of real music that is never in the mainstream . Also to get to grips with growl vocals think of them more as another instrument, try not to put them into what you expect to get from a vocal but more of a mood and emotion vehicle . I second Teacher Teacher as well . Amazing vocal skill and great lyrics. Try Gojira Silvera .
@Druid Hugger Hello and thank you for popping into our channel, we appreciate the great comment. Yes, we should do that and think of it as an additional instrument, the first time it is a shock factor, but we will try and be ready for that next time and appreciate how it used more for the music and not get shocked by it. Thanks for watching.
Yes, I listened over quite a few times when I first heard it...until I was starting to ignore Tati and the guys playing became compelling. They create this dreamy underwater sound to me, in keeping with the theme of the song...then wallop...the growl is like a shark attack. I think she's evoking the violence and danger of the underwater world...contrasting the serenity. I'll have to read the lyrics again...strong stuff from what I remember.
@IR4TE Hello and thanks for the comment and the suggestion. I could not do that to my colleague on the left as I know he would not enjoy it, I have seen it reacted to previously and then he would get hammered for not enjoying it. He really has a low threshold for Metal and we just about got him through Jinjer. We are happy to try most styles but Thrash and very Heavy Metal are not really our thing and others will do it justice. Thanks for watching.
Ah, you guys should check out another solid mood changer, Wintersun - Loneliness (Winter) Official Lyric Video: ruclips.net/video/qIiZFpOQnd8/видео.html
I wouldn't call their other music the same; but yes she switches between clean singing and growling in almost every song. Also, she grabs your focus but next time really pay attention to the band; they're brilliant as well! And the lyrics in their songs are really good as well. Teacher Teacher should be next. This style will really grow on you; I'm glad BP1 liked it!
@Roadkill Hello and thanks for popping back in, just like to say thanks for all your support and recommendations. That was a fun ride and we were caught off guard with it but it was great to hear it. Hahah yup BP1 had a little moment there. Cheers and come back anytime, we appreciate it.
@iCoteg Greetings to the UA from the UK. Oh yes indeed you do, you guys kept that quiet!!! Thanks for sharing we enjoyed that. Take care and we will be back soon with more from Jinjer
@K Maj Ohh that penny dropped indeed, nope not Tears for Fears.. Thanks for watching and glad we made you smile. Hope you check out more from our channel.
@Chris Plante HI, thanks for the comment. Just to clarify, we only get time to record usually once maybe twice a week and we have a list of the ones we can try and get through and then move on to the next suggestions. We will try and get to it, but just wanted to let you know how do our small channel and this is just something we do part time. Thanks for watching and hope you find something else on here to keep you interested.
@@BritPopsReact if you didn't want to do it just say so. You have had plenty of opportunity to react to it the past couple of months like 75 reactions and have definitely reacted to other new music in that time. That's fine don't watch it than I just figured you would appreciate some actual good music. Keep watching that pop music instead. At least you discovered Jinjer. You are underestimating how big Falling in Reverse is. I was just trying to help your channel grow as well. Have a great day
@Old Man Jim H Hello and welcome to our channel. Well, yes they do have Metal here in Britain, but you have to be in the know in the first place to find out where to hear it. The radio stations we listen to would not be playing this. So we have only discovered these and many more of the artist we have reacted to through doing this channel and from the comments we receive. Yup, we may do the follow up with the "Vortex" reaction. Thanks for watching.
Good reaction. Assuming you have an ultrawide screen or something... Unstretch the video aspect ratio, leaving the l/r black bars, then mask them out in OBS in real time when youstream/record with transparent layer. Then make Tatiana Larger! Video borders should almost touch y'alls noggins'. Also, you gotta rate it higher than 8.2 now that you know she can actually control her voice that way, no "filter" involved ya? 9.7 eh?
@Kriosym Hi and cheers for the comment. We get the screen size, the issue is more to do with the number that were getting blocked when we had them full screen. We get that the artists gets any advertising raised we have no issue with that, it was the ones that totally blocked the videos and we could not show them at all, when we went to this setup they all get through. We could try something else and check it out. As for the score, just for fun and it's for the song and how we liked that and not the artist or the skill, sorry!! Thanks for watching and hope "yer have us in front of yer noggin more often"!
@@BritPopsReact Ahh yeah? That's right aye? I think it's the people who own the copywrites who often aren't the artist anymore hah. Them and the Music Execs milking everything TBH. Total BS. With the way Reaction Vids are taking off like a rocket ship, RUclips ought to just make deals with the artists to provide them royalties from each reaction one of their songs is featured in. But instead of taking that revenue away from you, take it from themselves with some of that premium subscription cash-flow. I pay for no ads and stuff like this, not corny ass "original content" (Sorry RUclips, but aside from Cobra Kai your OC hasn't exactly "amazed"). Now go pay off some "artists or whomever", so the next generation will be able to see what the previous generations enjoyed reacting to!
Tears for fears oh no oh no lmao No filter lol you can growl without any problems. if you do it right. if you dont do it right you can ruin your voice. But yes thats Tati in all her glory. ( her voice is layered in the recording through out the whole song. BUT thats not a filter.
Oh, you picked a good one - and have come to the wide fields of progressive rock by yourselves. :)) But as you asked for suggestions I thought about it some more. Since you're British: Frost* - Day and Age (There's an official video which is shorter.) Haken - Canary Yellow I mentioned the new band Pentral - they have a nice "Kashmir" cover as well as good original songs. Or you could give the band The Ocean a shot. I hesitate a little to suggest them as they aren't really famous. They started as The Ocean Collective because there were contributing musicians. They do concept albums with the names of geological eras that serve as analogies to cultural and personal developments. Quite ambitious, right? ;) Anyway, you could try "Pleistocene". You'd get growls again that way. (Seriously: from my favourite album 2020. :))
@Ulrich von Bek OK, thanks for all the suggestions, a few to choose from there. It may take a little while to get to some of these as we often record a number of reactions at a time as we only get to record maybe twice a week and then put them out, but I will look into some of the bands from this and see where we go. Much appreciated and thanks for getting involved and for your comments.
100% all natural Tatiana, unfiltered. A few layers to add a depth, but that's it. False Fold growl. It's a real technique and when done properly, i.e. as Tatiana does, it's healthy and repeatable all night long. Dont over analize the the song :-) Its' called Pices, it speaks to the duality of the song, like the astrological symbol does. That's all.
Okay. Hmmm. Very different, for me. I immediately went to RUclips so I could watch their video with lyrics. At first, the instruments and soft vocals drew me in. There is the shock factor that comes into play, though. Totally unexpected! It does take talent to sing like Tatiana. I looked further to get answers about the genre and found a great Q&A video with Tatiana and Eugene. One of the questions was what genre are they? Eugene said he would describe their band as "progressive extreme music". Another question was about Tatiana's vocals. She said she thought she sounded like "a butchered cow" and that it took her a long time to develop her vocals and she didn't recommend it for others. I was trying to figure out the meaning of the song. Pisces is one of the zodiac signs and I know nothing about that sign. Naturally, Google rescued me with this blurb: "Pisces, a water sign, is the last constellation of the zodiac. It's symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions, representing the constant division of Pisces's attention between fantasy and reality. As the final sign, Pisces has absorbed every lesson - the joys and the pains, the hopes and the fears - learned by all of the other signs. This makes these fish the most psychic, empathetic, and compassionate creatures of the astrological wheel. With such immense sensitivity, Pisces can easily become swallowed by emotion and must remember to stay grounded in the material realm (appropriately, Pisces rules the feet)." IMO, that sort of speaks to me about the duality in the song. Her vocals, and even the lyrics sort of say that, too. In the 1st verse, she seems to be someone who is scared on the inside, but is able to project someone, who is going to be able to suffer and is strong on the outside. Opposing forces. The chorus about the "one being brings life" and "another runs towards death", seem to be referencing female/male, maybe? The last verse seems to be about the state of the human condition? Opposing forces as in the "Pisces swimming through the river", but against the stream. "Searching for the hook" to catch a sun beam only to "suffocate in painful tortures" by callous men. Again, opposing forces. The way she sings in the beginning is very soft, almost tenderly, she sounds so vulnerable and then she goes into that smack down growl (I don't know another word for it, and this is not a criticism), which sounds like she is fierce and could be in control of any situation. These are opposing forces. The song drew me in like a ripple, then I get hit with a tsunami. Maybe a better metaphor would be ocean waves that break in and out on a beach. I say that, because of the way a wave moves in and out, like her vocals did with the soft and then the growl and then repeats, throughout. I realize that my OCD has compelled me to over analyze the song. Instruments were great and the lyrics made me really try to think about the deeper meaning. Her vocal talent is rare. I'm not sure I would put this on my playlist, but I do want to hear some of their other songs. Does she go into the growl with every song? Do the other members sing solos? The only way to know is to listen to more of their music, which I will gladly do. Your score is higher than I think I would go, maybe a 7.9/10, but it's all great with me. Sorry, that my comments are so long. Can anyone explain the true/correct meaning of this song to me? Great song to start with on Sunday. Have a good day. Kudos, BR1 and BR2.🙂
@Debbie Lewis Wow, that sure is a comment and a break down of a song too. The CC's on the video we not much help so we were not entirely sure of what the whole song was about. BP1 did try and make some comments about it but we were both in the dark to what the song was about. Also, we were so taken back with the whole situation, it was probably lost on us too. We were totally drawn in, I had a little knowledge as I researched the song before hand a little, BP1 was priceless in this as he had no idea.🙂 I like to do that to him too. We have been given some good suggestions for a follow up, but we may do something live in concert to see how they sound in that environment. Impressed with your research we may come to you for the information in future!! Thanks for the great comments and you really do like to dive right in. Good for you..🙂 The weekend is almost over here, back to the day job soon
@@BritPopsReactWe're going to have to watch you, BP2. You're up to mischief, not giving BP1, at least, a tiny heads-up. No, it was priceless. That expression on his face was probably the same that I had on my face. I go too far on the comments on the songs. It's from my work in research. I'll try to shorten my comments. Get some rest! 🙂
Ah, auto-generated subtitles are always amusing nonsense, at least for song lyrics. I'm not sure it'll ever be able to pick the words out of the music. Tatiana's singing about the duality of being a Pisces, as she and the bassist were both born in March.
@Toolfankrk Hello and thank you for the comment and suggestion. We do have Tool on our list of bands we know nothing about and hope to get to react to them soon. We have very limited time to record reactions but we try and covere as many different genres as we can. I will try and get this on reacted to soon. Thanks for watching.
@James Sewell Hi James, think you may have us confused with someone else. We have only been doing this channel since Feb 2021 and this was most definitely the first time over hearing JINJER. Sorry, to disappoint but we would say if we have heard the band before. Hope that clears that up for you. Cheers for watching.
@Sixtus Pettersson We have been absent from the NW scene for a while, long enough to make it all nice an fresh again when we return. OK, we may go and do that soon. Thanks for watching.
The short version is nobody male or female can make that sound with their vocal cords without destroying them. Instead the false cords aka vestibular folds are used. The technique is called "false cord growls." Thanks for all your comments, we appreciate then and the support.
We know of Wacken due to our "Nightwish" reactions and also "Leo Moracchioli" :)
A concert one would be a good one to follow up with as we like to see bands live too.
Also thanks for the info on the "Growl" I did watch the Leo video before I edited this just to make sure we did not get it totally wrong and then get hit with all the comments about the technique...pheeew that could have been messy.

@@BritPopsReact A link for your convenience.... JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019) ruclips.net/video/bxi3i9wzQBk/видео.html
@@TexasVeteranPatriot perfect. ;)
Jeffrey is one of our Jinjer experts... most anything he says is gold... that said Retrospective (official music video) is my all time favorite. And as a bonus she starts the song in her native tongue
I remember kids in grade school saying the alphabet while belching. It uses much the same principle.
@donepearce
Cheers Don, you are a dark horse, you must have know we were going to fall into reacting to these at some stage and you kept quiet.
Jinjer is great. Normally I don't like growling, but here it provides variety and is not the main part of the song.
Teacher Teacher shows much more Tatjana's versatility. There is much more variety in it.
@Coyote
Ahh, you kept quiet about these guys!!
This one we could manage as there were hard and soft parts, not sure we could take it if it was hard all the way.
We are much too delicate for that.
We just about manage NW..
Oh, we will be back with more from them soon.

I support Jeff Wellman. The song "Teacher, Teacher (official video)" is the best choice.

Not a filter gent's. That is 100% Tatiana!
@Cam Lloyd
Yup, got it and we had some great comments on how is is achieved.
We have improved out knowledge 100% too.
Thanks for watching.
Not true, there was postproduction to her voice but not much!

Greetings from the UK
Here comes the Jinjer Army. It is not a filter. Tatiana is a vocal goddess. The musicianship of the band is outstanding. To see how good they are, react to their live performances. I would suggest "Perennial" live at Wacken and "Who is going to be the One" (live, Napalm records) I personally think "Teacher, Teacher" (official video) showcases the band at their best (though others will disagree). You asked about the style of music. Their songs can easily have influences from two or three genres. It is easier to classify it as Jinjer.
I think "Perennial" is most in tune to what the Brit Pops would most likely actually enjoy
@Jeff Wellman
Thank you for the comment and for watching.
We have had as you can expect a lot of suggestions where to go next and we think we would like to check out a live version.
Perennial seems to be well suggested.
More soon.
@Taneli
Thank you for the comment, we will try and get to that one soon.
Official video suggestions:
Teacher, Teacher
Vortex
I Speak Astronomy
Cloud Factory
Retrospection
No Hoard Of Value (official lyric video)
Home Back

They are very good and it may not be totally our "cup of tea" but we gave it a good listen and could appreciate the skill involved.

'That's not Tears for Fears' never a truer word spoken. I hit play straight away, just to see the looks on your faces. 🤣
@Pj Faherty
Oh yeah, although "Everybody want's to rule the world" would have meant a lot more sung in this style 🤣

@@BritPopsReact that being said, when you mentioned T4F, there is a guitar tone or chord phrase in Pisces that is reminiscent to I think, "Everyboday wants to rule the world". I could hear what you were talking about.
Shout, shout, let it all out ...
@@BritPopsReact that ones probably the best live example of them playing
YES...Awesome!!
@@BritPopsReact And don't forget the lyrics on Perennial
The Bassist (Eugene) says it's "Extreme Music". You might want to see "Perennial" live at Wacken and the official video for "Teacher, Teacher".
Welcome to Jinjer. Yes that's all her. Perennial live at Wacken shows her talent well
@Casandra Lorensen

Thanks for watching and we will be interested to see a live performance and that one has been suggested a lot.
More from "Jinjer" soon.
No filter. It’s a technique - false chords and vocal fry. This whole band is awesome. There’s lots of female singers that use this technique in metal - the Agonist; Abnormality, Konvent, Arch Enemy to name a few…
This song is brilliant and the more you listen to this version, the more brilliant it becomes. So perfect produced as well
@Divedown25
Thanks for the comment.
It is a very performed song, not usually "Our cup of Tea" and the shock factor was massive.
We will go back soon and do a live performance to see how that goes.

Step forward and meet a new sunrise
A coward is shivering inside
Today I'll be a friend of mine
Who swallows suffering with smile
I drew a different reality
With unconditional loyalty
Ego hardly can be piqued
'Cause I'm selfless
Scale armour blaze
Virgin innocence
One being brings life
Another runs for death
Scale armour blaze
Virgin innocence
One being brings life
Another runs for death
No promises I ever give
Don't rely on me and I won't deceive
The beginning or the end you can't tell
When I wave my fin and shake my tail
I grew in different normality
With unblamable morality
Hooks and nets are there for me
But I'm skittish
Scale armour blaze
Virgin innocence
One being brings life
Another runs for death
Scale armour blaze
Virgin innocence
One being brings life
Another runs for death
A Neptune's child shivering inside
Drowns in the liquid gold
Cherished his life to the underworld
Meet me flashing when winter cries
Pisces swimming through the river
All their life against the stream
Searching for a hook to catch on and see their sun beam
Then suffocate in painful tortures
On cutting tables of callous men
Under a knife of handsome butchers
Emeralds are ripped away
Emeralds are ripped away
Emeralds are ripped away
Emeralds are ripped away
Teacher, teacher official and also Judgement (& Punishment) - Tatiana Shmayluk one take vocal performace video are 👌🏻
It always makes my day when I find a new reaction video for Pisces, you should go with who is gonna be the one or Perennial next and it needs to be live.
@Templarofsteel88
Hello and thank you for the recommendation.
We will hope to return to Jinjer shortly, the nerves are just starting to return to normal.
this I am looking forward to
this band is off the bloody hook
@Tom Clark
Nice, we see what you did there!! you thought about that reply.

Astounding.
Second they raised volume up, I volumend down my earphones (because I know Jinjer music well).... and I guessed well, where they are gonna pause.

@Druid Hugger
Hello and thank you for popping into our channel, we appreciate the great comment.
Yes, we should do that and think of it as an additional instrument, the first time it is a shock factor, but we will try and be ready for that next time and appreciate how it used more for the music and not get shocked by it.

9.7 eh?

Hi and cheers for the comment.
We get the screen size, the issue is more to do with the number that were getting blocked when we had them full screen.

@donald jackson
Thank you for the nice comment, we really appreciate it.
@donald jackson
Thanks and noted!!
Tears for fears oh no oh no lmao No filter lol you can growl without any problems. if you do it right. if you dont do it right you can ruin your voice. But yes thats Tati in all her glory. ( her voice is layered in the recording through out the whole song. BUT thats not a filter.
Good way of putting it. :)
@Torben Johansen
Yup, not "Tears for Fears" Roland and Curt we not quite that intense!!
Thanks for watching.
Oh, you picked a good one - and have come to the wide fields of progressive rock by yourselves. :))
But as you asked for suggestions I thought about it some more. Since you're British:
Frost* - Day and Age (There's an official video which is shorter.)
Haken - Canary Yellow
I mentioned the new band Pentral - they have a nice "Kashmir" cover as well as good original songs.
@Ulrich von Bek
OK, thanks for all the suggestions, a few to choose from there.
That's all.
@Daniel O'Sheigh
She sure caught us by surprise on that one, no Tears for Fears in there!!
We will try and revisit them soon.
Okay.
Naturally, Google rescued me with this blurb:
"Pisces, a water sign, is the last constellation of the zodiac. With such immense sensitivity, Pisces can easily become swallowed by emotion and must remember to stay grounded in the material realm (appropriately, Pisces rules the feet)."
IMO, that sort of speaks to me about the duality in the song.
@Debbie Lewis
Wow, that sure is a comment and a break down of a song too.
The CC's on the video we not much help so we were not entirely sure of what the whole song was about. BP1 did try and make some comments about it but we were both in the dark to what the song was about.
Also, we were so taken back with the whole situation, it was probably lost on us too.
We were totally drawn in, I had a little knowledge as I researched the song before hand a little, BP1 was priceless in this as he had no idea.🙂
I like to do that to him too.
We have been given some good suggestions for a follow up, but we may do something live in concert to see how they sound in that environment.
Impressed with your research we may come to you for the information in future!!
Thanks for the great comments and you really do like to dive right in.
Good for you..🙂
The weekend is almost over here, back to the day job soon
@@BritPopsReactWe're going to have to watch you, BP2. You're up to mischief, not giving BP1, at least, a tiny heads-up. No, it was priceless. That expression on his face was probably the same that I had on my face.
I go too far on the comments on the songs. It's from my work in research. I'll try to shorten my comments.
Get some rest! 🙂
Not a filter.

First of all, why is the picture in like 16:3?? Turn of the captions!!
Ah, auto-generated subtitles are always amusing nonsense, at least for song lyrics. I'm not sure it'll ever be able to pick the words out of the music. Tatiana's singing about the duality of being a Pisces, as she and the bassist were both born in March.
Pls do 46&2 by TOOL
@Toolfankrk
Hello and thank you for the comment and suggestion.
We do have Tool on our list of bands we know nothing about and hope to get to react to them soon.
We have very limited time to record reactions but we try and covere as many different genres as we can.
