Shaxx was right…To blame them for an ill conceived wish is like blaming a fire for burning down a house. Tarranis definitely proved that ahamkara have the capacity to not be vicious manipulators. The dungeon ahamkara hfend can to a degree even be considered as well as his wishes after his death were used to help people rather than harm them
I mean hefnd sounds like a great ahamkara, obviously he can’t grant wishes for free, but it was never stated that he twisted any of the dark age peoples wishes, only made naeem take the burden of the wish (which is what she wanted anyway)
@@jacobtuck3086 Their heads differ. Taranis had, for lack of a word, more appendages than Riven -and they were sharper. Compare his image at 6:02 to images of the illusion from Witch Queen and I think you might see the bit of resemblance. *I was thinking of it as Savathun being sneaky again.
I'm not happy the story is stuck beneath this once-a-week Easter egg hunt, but the actual story has been pretty good. Shades of Haunted in it's portrayals, love the themes of love, betrayal, retribution, and reconciliation.
The reason he “died” was because the only way he could grand his own wish is by using his life as the bad denominator for the wish, not cause it killed him, their wishes always have an opposite reaction so his was is physical death
I thought his whole thing was granting wishes without the bad denominator, ahamkaras don’t need to have a negative+wish it’s just they don’t grow as strong if they don’t and the actual reason he died was because when ahakaras grant wished they feed of the wish so when he made his own wish he just fed off himself in turn killing hisself
So ahamkara sustain themselves on the difference between what the wisher actually wants, and the wish they get, after it has been twisted. Taranis tried to limit how much he twisted wishes, and riven says it must’ve taken a toll. As the wish he made was unable to be altered, as he himself made it, he literally starved himself to death, as he used energy granting a wish, but got no sustenance from it, as he obviously can’t twist the wish as he himself made it
But also wish dragons need some kind of bad turnout for there wish to come true and in this case it was his physical body as far as we know, his bones could talk to us in the future though
Riven's cutscene suggests that this whole time, most of the Ahamkara have been causing a negative effect along with whatever wish they grant by choice. Is there any other lore talking about this?
Not sure about specific lore BUT I do know that the Ahamkara choosing to create negative effects with their wishes is more of a survival adaptation than simple choice to be evil. The story has told us (and there is more lore talking about this) that Ahamkara feed on the “difference between what is desired and what is,” so it makes sense that a creature able to grant wishes would twist them in order to have more “food.” This is why Riven was so attracted to Teranus- he rose above this part of their nature and granted wishes without twisting them; he probably suffered from this. I equate it to a single parent who can barely afford food and yet, because they love their kids, forego meals so that they can give more food to their children. Technically a choice, but a difficult one because it defies the parents’ evolutionary nature and is rooted solely in love.
Ahamkara feed of the difference between what is desired and what is, as in the difference between what the wisher wants and what the wish ends up being, it’s like a monkeys paw, and is almost always negative
Mara has a long term scheme to win her brother back, to have (essentially) a Lightbearer under her control. What better avenue than the restoration of a once inseparable friendship. Petra, when all is said and done serves her Queen's interests. Crow needs to bear that in mind when accepting 'advice' from her.
Actually, I think Mara is done with that. The Guardians will be her allies because her brother is one of their leaders and she is working on amending her relationship with him. If anything, I think Crow/Uldren being separated from Mara and have some distance from her has done wonders for him and for her. Of course death is also a factor as well, but I think the two of them have done some growing as individuals.
Crow has already made it clear he isn't interested in going back, he worked hard to be accepted by the vanguard (still being sneered) Lore states however that a friend of Mara, had a dream that included Uldren being at the scene in which Mara attacked a pyramid and ripped it in half (Uldren being at the scene in the dream doesn't mean he's Uldren again, it just means the people of the dreaming city wouldnt know Uldren would die, and become Crow) The dream wasn't taken seriously, but general lore of destiny says such dreams are a vision of the future
Petra could have just known that Crow doesn't have many friends. He's somewhat reconciled with Mara, might as well reach out to other Awoken. Taranis, the exception that proves the rule... if we didn't already meet Hefnd.
