      I like the design of Tactix too but why is it so much more expensive than the First Tactical Specialist 1-Day or Rush 24?
      Tactix is $190 vs $100-130 for the Specialist 1-Day. I even found one for $75 in tan color (sold by First Tactical). Even though i like Tactix better than Rush 24 i can't justify spending so much extra money, that's crazy...
      I feel like FT Specialist 1-Day vs Rush 24 would've been a better comparison.
      Very nice video, thanks!

    Hi Gabe, my name is Tim Wimberly and I am from San Diego, California and it’s nice to meet you. Nice and impressive video on both the 5.11 Rush24 2.0 and the First Tactics Backpacks. Let me get right to the point. I am retired U.S. Army Combat Trained Military Policeman that has seen and experienced a lot of military luggage that has been put through a lot of torture. 5.11 with their Tactical Backpacks and engineering designs can withstand the most austere environments. However First Tactics after Your demonstration video with them wins when it comes to load carrying factors and ergonomics for outdoor sports however I question its combat effectiveness and efficiency. I am 6ft. 150lbs and you are 5ft. 11 and 190lbs. Both manufacturers design military/tactical backpacks for different customers. First Tactics however does not business with one of the Biggest Military Luggage Retailers in the United States and that’s Military Luggage Company and they are based in Fayetteville, North Carolina contiguous to Joint Base Bragg/Pope Home of Various Specialized Units of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force and First Tactics products need to tested to U.S Department of Defense engineering standards (DARPA)at Ft. Irwin California and Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. I am a also a military luggage sustainment specialist and analyst that throws military luggage full of bricks and concrete off cliffs, ships, run over by heavy vehicles here in San Diego County California. To see if certain Military Luggage equipment can with combat environments on both sea, air and land. Overall Gabe You did a Great job on Your video just next time get more advice from the Professionals.

      Hey Tim, HOOAH!
      Thanks for watching and commenting. On to addressing your points:
      *_"I question its combat effectiveness and efficiency":_*
      I would also. I have not used either packs, ever, for combat or anything of that nature. I too have seen and heard positive remarks of 5.11 on the field (e.g., Fort Irwin).
      *_First Tactics however does not business with one of the Biggest Military Luggage Retailers in the United States and that’s Military Luggage Company and they are based in Fayetteville, North Carolina contiguous to Joint Base Bragg/Pope Home of Various Specialized Units of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force and First Tactics products need to tested to U.S Department of Defense engineering standards (DARPA)...:_*
      This is good to know. I will say that First Tactical is a reputable company as well. Maybe not to the level of the military but is a sought out brand by both law enforcement and first responders.
      *_Overall Gabe You did a Great job on Your video just next time get more advice from the Professionals_* .:
      Again , thank you. As for asking advice, I wouldn't be sure on who or what to ask? The purpose of this video was to share a comparison of two high quality tactical backpacks that have some history together (owners), my intentions for buying them (i.e., Fitness, EDC, Travel, Rucking), my personal experiences, and to share some visuals as there aren't many out there. First Tactical "won" because it best suits my needs. That's all.
      I am with you and agree to what many others have shared, 5.11 is a great brand and pack. Many who serve in the military or law enforcement may be using this backpack and speak highly towards it, however, under my categories, it just didn't deliver.
      But going forward, at least we know that if there are questions on High Performing Tactical Backpacks, You're the guy that can help.

    I've used 5.11's backpacks, especially the Rush 24, for many years but I'm waaay more happy with the Tactix One day. The features are vastly superior and it looks way better thanks to the laser cut webbing. The One Day has completely replaced both my Rush 24 and 12 and I'm also thinking of buying the 3 Day to replace my rush 72.

    The (drain) holes in the First Tactical are a deal breaker for me. It totally defeats the purpose of using water resistant material. Water, snow, mud and dirt comes inside the bag through the drain holes - you can never put your bag on the ground.

    As the user of the first version of rush 24, I have to admit that I like it for it’s brutal simplicity. I can see how it was designed to dump either a box of ammo or your weekly shopping into the main compartment. It’s not over engineered, yet vastly sensible.
    One thing to note is that your back will get really sweaty on a hot day due to lack of any ventilation.

    I tend to refer to First Tactical as 5.11 Junior because they both have great products that are kinda made by the same people. Both companies were started by Dan Costa. He started 5.11 in 2003 and First Tactical in 2015. The end result is you’re getting a quality product no matter which one you choose.

    Although the Tactix looks better imo I'd have to go with the rush, its built better and has less gimmicks. I compared both at the store (ended up purchasing the rush72), I also found the zippers on the tactix to be more finicky. In short, the tactix was trying to do too many things at once while the rush kept things sturdy, reliable and straight forward. The rush72 also comes with the stow-away pouch and is built with heavier duty material. The rush was also about 100 dollars cheaper so there's that too.

    I think both are great bags. The first tactical does have better organization and looks.
    After owning both, I have to say I slightly prefer the 5.11 base on the carry system. To me the yoke strap is much more comfortable than the first tactical. The lack of waist belt don't really bother me none because I use it to replace the assault pack that the army issued me. I only find waist belt useful if I'm carrying a rucksack with heavy loads.
    With that being said, I take the 5.11 when I go to the field and any missions. But for everything else, I take the first tactical.

    I have them both in front of me now... I am not sure if I like the rush 24 better because I am familiar with it however I really wanted to like the First Tactical however the sunglass pocket was so shallow and the missing water bladder portion was not there. I also like the CCW pocket being velcro because the zipper is hard to get to and also everybody will know there is something inside the bag instead of the pocket being almost hidden in the Rush 24. I am still deciding what one to keep.

I am up in Canada and travel in the FAR north 140 - 150 Days a year.....and Have dragged my 5.11's to hell and back....I notice that on the First Tactical the shoulder straps are actually removable....wow! do you know if you can get spar shoulder straps?....reason I ask, is like the other dude said, that meshy stuff doesn't look super durable?....weird considering everything else seems to be like Bomb proof....have you heard, or have has any issues with premature wear of that stuff? thoughts? thanks man and great review.

      @GabeCuello  2 года назад +1

      Hey! Thanks for watching my review. It totally sounds like you be gettin some out there. That's awesome!
      As for the straps: 1) I honestly don't think they sell spare shoulder straps. Please reach out to First Tactical directly for that info though. 2) I have done a few miles with the Tactix (loaded with 30-45lbs) and have had no issues with durability. Yes, they are a bit rough in texture (I sometimes hike with tank top and get aggressive skin rubs) but they are durable for me at least.
      The waist belt is (imo) what makes this backpack complete and freakn awesome. I bring that up because without it, the hikes and loaded carries might just be a bit fatiguing on the shoulders/traps over the long hauls.
      I know it's not much for a clear answer but I hope it works out for you. I'd also suggest buying a set of adjustable straps too (which they sell as a pair for $12 I think). They can come in handy.

    The backpack that is reasonable to compare with Rush 24 2.0 is the Specialist 1-day, not the Tactix 1-day plus. You also didn't include the price for comparison. The specialist 1-day being the cheapest, Rush 24 2.0 being in the middle, and the Tactix 1-day plus being the most expensive of the three.
    You're like comparing Smartphone A with Smartphone B+ instead of Smartphone B.

      @@GabeCuello yeah I'm on a very similar mission as you were. I got sick with COVID and almost killed me. I would get winded walking to the store. I decided to get fit. I eat no processed sugar. Eat low carb, high protein diet as well as a lot vit D3, k2, zinc, magnesium. Exercise daily. I went from 260 to now under 200lbs in months. I plan on getting back into inline skating when the weather improves here in Canada. Still lots of snow. I want the right gear. I want a rugged tactical bag but one I can use for my skates to. I'm also into bush craft and prepping. So I enjoy your reviews and self improvement videos. Great work on your achievements. I look now like you did starting. I have a long way to go but I know it will work if I do the work. Thanks for replying and any advice will help or recommended videos. I will check out that UnderArmour bag since I wear a ton of that compression gear and clothing.

    The sternum strap got caught on the thin mesh and tore the mesh easily after the first day using it. I adjusted the strap while wearing the pack with about 15 lbs of weight. I got a replacement on the way via AMZ however this is not a good sign.. do you have any issues like this? The mesh on the straps is so thin you can see the white padding inside. Do you think that’s normal? This is for the first tactical tactix half day pack.-- update I spoke with FT customer service. They said this is a very rare occurrence and they don’t get many calls for this issue. She said it’s covered for a year and if it happens to the replacement as well call them directly and they will make it right.

    I prefer the first tsctical over the 5.11 BUT. For me the 5.11 is more suitable for me. Mainly my o ly gripe with the first tac is that the shoulder strap and back panel are mesh instead of plain nylon. When I wore the first tacticalack the mesh got destroyed i no time by wearing it and it rubbing against my chest rig

    Guys just ordered the 5.11 tactical rush 24 in color black but I recently read some remarks that when you’re in a hot country with lots of sun that might actually cause your backpack’s color to fade…! Any thoughts on that? Do you think that these bags can really fade on a hot summer sun? Thanks✌️💪

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  2 года назад +1

      Hmm, not sure. I do think it's possible because of the webbing and fabric style but then again it's nylon/polyester blend fabrics which usually does well in retaining the original color.
      Not a clear answer, I know, but reach out to 5.11 and let us know if this would be covered under warranty. They are very good with servicing their customers.

    You are the MF’n Man! 5.11 refuses to provide a waist belt for no applicable reason. Will the first tactical belt work on a 5.11 rush 24? I ruck, therefore it’s important to my training to have one supporting that weight. Keep up the outstanding work man.

      I am biased... I think the Tactix 1day+ or 1/2 day plus are great options.
      HOWEVER, it is completely up to you and what your style, habits, and needs are. I know. Sometimes we just want a straightforward answer, but it really depends on you.
      Some say for real world applications (e.g., tactical use), the 5.11 is best. Imo, First Tactical Tactix is still a great contender, just lacks real world testing.
      For me, to this day, both Tactix backs are great. I love the 1/2day plus and both are awesome for traveling. The organizational features are just a game changer for me.

    Maybe I’m biased but the 5.11 is top tier.
    Edit: Honestly after watching the video the 5.11 is vastly superior.
    I own three 5.11 bags and they all perform great. I also own a Maxpedition so im not a 100% 5.11 fan boy but they’re a top brand for a reason.
    I suggest trying The Maxpedition line of bags as well as Vanquest Trident.

    • @GabeCuello
      @GabeCuello  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts.
      5.11 is a great brand. The Rush 24 2.0 is a newer pack vs the Tactix 1 day plus (2016 model).
      I have also heard great great things about Maxpedition and Dragon Egg.
      The Tactix ended up being my choice only for the things I value (Ie., organization and rucking capacity). It's a solid backpack for those specific needs whereas mostly all the other tactical backpacks I've seen are "too tactical" (ie. focused on combat), do not offer waistbelt capabilities or organization capabilities which is why I ended up with Tactix 1 Day plus.
