Jeremy Brown Syd Barrett was a half decent guitar player who was more known for his lyrics. Are you referring to the actual guitarist in the group, David Gilmour? Because he inspired people in his own way too with long drawn out bends and eclectic note choices.

He was just shit, let's get it straight. Amen Brother. It takes a very specific palm muting touch.. needs more CFH 🤘 Also look up 2 Live Crew "Fuq Shop" if you don't know about that. I could just ol Diamond Dave and Eddie being like "yeah you can use our song for your rap sample as long as it's about boning and not killing people"

Not surprisingly, all but 2 were from the DLR era. Feelin' and 5150 are great inclusions. They definitely belong on this list.

The Mug l, agree but it didn’t sound as boogied up as the Halen ver, timing was a bit out, it’s a bitch to play if your timing in 6/8 is a bit iffy!
Kevin Leavy people forget that old music had jankiness and that jank needs to be played.
If you play a solo from Richie Blackmore, with perfection, you’ll just sound like a less nimble Doug Aldrich.

"Unchained" , for me, is the perfect VH tune. Hard, propulsive, joyful, and Diamond Dave at his extra-extraverted best.

Agree. Right after the HUGE 1984 album, change of front man, completely different sound, etc. Maybe not as technical but an absolutely beautiful intro. EVH still on top of his game then no doubt!

I cant get past the little birdies inlays on them pricy soy boy guitars.It does have a better headstock design than those Wolfie Music man monstrosities ,I'll give you that.Gotta frankenstrat it up though!

For me he is the best. I don't know about him as a person but his playing is unbelievable and his writing is what blows my mind the most. I tuned out after 1984 but those first several albums are incredible. I love Jimi far more but I think EVH was the greatest guitarist.

5150 is the most underrated Van Halen riff of all time, in my opinion. Probably is overlooked cause it’s Van Hagar, even though Eddie wrote it before Hagar joined. Top of the World is personally my favorite riff, first EVH riff I ever learned. 🤘
