Honestly, we can fight all we want, but at the end of the day, these two remain the most legendary guitar in history.

That is because the strat is normally used for less gainy music, which is more influenced by blues, but, for example, slash's solos have a shooting amount of feel and they are hard hard rock stuff but also influenced by blues
Les pauls are made for rock and fenders are for any genre

@@carlolf Why? It was recorded and only played live on Peter's Les Paul. You might be confused with Need Your Love So Bad which was recorded on a Strat

@@didds8869 hearing the studio version again, the intro guitar is an acoustic one, then answering guitar a Strat (I suppose).
carlolf He’s playing the bands shared Strat in the music video for Need Your Love So Bad filmed at the BBC. It’s fairly safe to assume that it was recorded on a strat too, especially since it sounds like that thin bridge single coil of a strat. I really doubt that Oh Well was recorded on a strat since that song is one of the best examples of Peters quacky out of phase pickup tone

Lynyrd Skynyrd tone was closest to the original. That's how fenders are supposed to sound.
Pink Floyd- a little bit too much of overdrive, in the album it was cleaner.
I say Strat because of layla, SRV, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chili peppers, Pink Floyd, INXS, John Mayer, Deep Purple, and the man Jimi Hendrix. Literally Everything
Yeah but Les Paul has Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, some Stones, Gary Moore, ZZ Top, Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde, KISS, Def Leppard, Bonamassa, Duane Allman, The Who, Aerosmith, Sex Pistols, Clapton also used a lot of Les Pauls, Zappa, Rush, Green Day, Eagles, Pearl Jam, Metallica. Les Paul wins easy

Sweet Home Alabama is the only Skynyrd song that really uses a strat though. All of the others use Gibson guitars.

No offense but im my opinion it was kinda boring, I enjoyed Eat the Rich way more.
I dont want to say Pink Floyd is a bad Band, all of them are excellent musicians and those were really good 4 Notes in the Song, but its a little monotonous.

@@keinname1706 i used to be the same if i'm gonna be honest, but recently i started to really appreciate the entirety of Shine On and it's insane how much feeling can be packed into those 4 notes. Nowadays, Shine On is easily one of my top songs from Floyd/in general.

Real answer: Get both. Most importantly just pick what ever feels more right to play. The sound comes from the fingers and feel so most importantly to pick the right tool for you.

They both have their unique sounds. There are times when I want the strat sound and times where I want that LP. If I had to pick a favorite I would choose LP because of it's warmth.
Ive always preferred the feel and handle of a Strat.
Agree to you David, less weight than a LP, 5way switch, a comfortable neck and the awesome sound if you play in Position 2 or 5.

I grew up with a Les Paul and loved listening to heavy guitar music. But as I've gotten older, the stratocaster became my favourite because of John Frusciante and John Mayer.
Love both,but if i had to choose one,it would be the Les Paul!

Les Pauls only sound good dirty. Whereas Strats can do both dirty and especially clean very well. There I said it.
Not really ,50's les paul can do both , even better , nowadays they improve it by adding coil tapping & in/out phase push pull pots

Stephen K well Clapton used both frequently during the duration of his career, but I do agree with you. John Frusciante does it for me.

I have only ever had guitars with humbuckers. Never was interest in fenders or single coils. Now I’m getting older I’m really starting to love the sound they produce

You should have compared Sultans of Swing with Money for Nothing. Both were played by Mark Knopfler but he was able to make those two guitars sound drastically different.

LP is thick and creamy. Strat has more attack and more twang. I'd choose the LP for blues and rock. If I were to just noodle around at home I'd go for strat. I usually set LPs at bridge pickup and strats at neck pickup.

I love how the Les Paul has quite a soft and smooth design, but some of the heaviest riffs I know were made with them. Scream by In Flames is one of them. That chorus is fucking brutal and Björn Gelotte just so happens to almost only play Epiphone Les Pauls.
If we take the Strat, then one of my favorite guitarists actually plays one. You don't see it often, but Fender Stratocasters and Heavy Metal can go really well together. Watch Sabaton perform Metal Crue live at Woodstock Poland and you'll hear one of the sickest shredding solos ever made on a Fender brought to you by the one and only Thorbjörn Englund. That dude can make his guitar sound like a fucking violin. He's a musical genius limited by a strict budget.

Not what I expected but I enjoyed it very much. What I thought it would be, that I would love at least as much, is a battle of the riffs where each riff is played on each guitar.

This was really really tough, but me being a Les Paul fan, I'll always vote for les paul. The strat was a tough competition thoug, but LP wins.
