    Simple Hack. Use side cutters and cut the sharp tip off the screw. Guaranty will not split the wood.

    I didn't know this one. Finish carpenters taught me to predrill . Even on decks we predrill now

      I still predrill when I'm doing finish work. But for rough work, especially on decks and sheds I always do this. Glad I could help!

    I like to use #7 countersink bits, the kind that have the black plastic cylinder at the top. Creates the perfect little pocket for trim head screws. For larger deck screws, you can even ream out the hole a little bit. If you know guat I mean 😏
