- Friends, what did it mean for the early Christians to be witnesses? In my keynote address at the Good News Conference, I spoke about what it means to be a witness and its uniqueness to Christianity. Christianity is about something that happened in history, something that altered the course of humanity. And it is because of the first Christian witnesses that we can be here today, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus.

I can rely on you to boil down the garblygook we so often make of Christianity to the beautiful message it truly is: God, the creator, came to Earth in human form because He so loves us! He suffered and died to pay the price for our sins. Jesus/God conquered death, so that we can have eternal life. Now we live to spread this love to the world.

That was such an inspiring speech, centering on the important theme of evangelizing. I was thinking about a word that is often used today, systematic. I think systematic evangelization
is a great expression for the Catholic Church.😂. Catholic groups are everywhere, helping people.The purpose of the cross is to evangelize and Bishop Barron laid out so many ways that Catholic’s spread the good news. ❤✝️

Thank you Bishop Barron. Beautiful conference. When I have to deal with annoying people, I remember that I need to go to mass. And I see the Grace of God with us. It is not me! It is the patience of the Lord for our salvation.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 'Study to be quiet, work with your hands and mind your own business.' Co-operate with Scripture. Preach by example.
the devil has had 2000 years to learn how to guise himself using scripture. This can also work to cloud great evil. “Mind your business” is how a nation full of professed Christian’s became engrossed in Child Sex Traffic Trade and Sacrifice under our nose.
The “preach always, and use words only when neccesary” mentality just isn’t biblical. For example:
“And everyday, they ceased not in the temple, and from house to house, to teach and preach Christ Jesus” (Acts 5:42).
“Preach the word: be instant in season or out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine.” (2 Timothy 4:2)
“Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel” (1 Cor 9:16)
“Faith comes from hearing. And hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
Throughout the scriptures, Christ and His Apostles preach, vocally, not just by example. There is room for prudence for when to be vocal or not. But we do not just “preach by example”.
@@andrewsong9104 'Study to be quiet.' Preaching of St Paul to the Thessalonians whose authority came from Christ. I admit my fault, I accept my rebuke and correction and I submit to the authority of the words of Christ Who requires obedience.
Protestant, who gave you authority? Who is the founder of your church? What century?

(referring to when he was on the water with Jesus and sank) Who can run faster in a race, Peter or John?" and that if you study the Gospels you'll know where the answer is.

I'm so glad to see Catholic priests give sermons like this.. in the Gospel of John it was a woman by the name of Mary Magdalene that first saw the empty tomb and she ran and got Peter and John and then they went to see the empty tomb.... the Pharisees according to their Jewish laws could not crucify anybody so they had the Romans do it

There are so many religions around the world today (2023) making it extremely hard for people to judge the severity or level of
one sin verses another - as listed in the10 commandments. This is an inarguable separation of biblical teachings/religious beliefs that should not exist. If your house was burglarized and your daughter murdered are these sins equal? Without doubt...THEY ARE NOT. My point is the proclamation of historic documents which include writings about Jesus and what he desperately tried to teach us were and remain the acts of mercy towards one another which we should chose to do in place of neglect or violence.
Beautiful talk. Can we understand how to bring mercy to gaza without exacting total justice. Its so complicated. God bless.

Fab, thank you. My one question: why are so many bishops, priests, vicars, pastors and ministers failing to disciple their flocks today? One short homily from a pulpit each week is not enough. The body of Christ needs feeding.
This is constantly in my heart. I think it's time retired priests are called back to preach and teach right after Mass.
Nothing is more important than get everyone under the same doctrine by faithful teachers
It's also an opportunity for informality and friendship.
I pray to God, this starts immediately.

Here's a reason why the story says John waited for Peter: it was an apologetic device so people couldnt say John moved the body or some such while Peter wasnt there. Makes more sense than just assuming the story must be true.
@@Denis.Collins There're a million ways it could be told, but the progression of the story over time is quite obvious in the gospels. The resurrection story was continually beefed up with statements that were made specifically to counter early claims against Christianity and in the case of John, make Jesus appear more divine. This is really all that needs to be said to have doubt against even a mundane claim, but against a full blown resurrection claim, it's honestly overkill.
Cool, the spiritual works of mercy is more important than the corporal works of mercy coz' we'd be nice atheists if there's no spiritual works and it also violated loving God in the most direct way.
