Great video Steve, can’t believe you are starting your penultimate from the free throw line! Definitely going to start taking a longer drop step now :)
Love it, very informational. But i have one problem, about the stutter steps and long strides ( The approach basically) , people always advice that but don't go into the reason why most people will stutter and slow down before they jump , which is week legs , their legs cant properly absorb all that energy so they automatically slow down or release some of that energy by using a stutter step , so the advice should be to strengthen their legs so they can withstand all of that energy.
I know this video is old ash but I wanna start beating able to jump off two as well I’m a one foot jumper and I jump off my left foot that’s my strong foot so my question is when doing the 2 foot jump should I use my stronger foot as my block or my weaker one ??
Hey Steven great video, I think this will help a lot of people. Not many people have videos like this, and it will help a ton of people. I am left right p.s.
Hey Steven, Great tutorial, love the video as always. I've been watching your channel for around 2 years now and it has really inspired me. I'm 5'6" and chasing my first dunk and can get just above the rim but not consistently. My plant isn't consistent and I'm trying to work out the best approach for me. My approach is quite slow and I rely on power rather than speed, but I never know the best angle for my feet during the plant. If I'm coming at the basket straight on, when I take my penultimate step (I'm right left like you) and plant my right foot first, should it be facing the basket or should I be pointing it to the right a bit say 45-90 degrees? The same with my left foot as it lands, should I keep this straight on or should I be wrapping it round to be nearly side on to the basket so that it acts like a brake and stops me from going forward? I've been playing about with both and getting comfortable getting it to turn to the right to try and propel me more upright, but I'm not sure if this is the correct approach. Hope that all makes sense. What would your advice be? Thanks, Matt
Very eye opening. I'm a fast sprinter and strong for my weight (2 1/2 yrs lifting now at 165lbs 5'9") Just for some backround here are some of my lifting workout numbers to get an idea of my current strength level- max traditional deadlift 415, max bench 225 for 5 reps, 365 squat, 205 clean. 120lb +bodyweight dip and 85lb +bodyweight wide grip pullup. My standing broad jump is 122 inches. I'm pretty quick and decently strong, but I've always had trouble even touching the top part of the net. Recently I've been doing explosive workouts and have been able to consistently grab rim with a couple steps and a right - left jump. I've never attempted to jump like you have in this video (fast running start and extremely explosive movements) so I'm excited to try it out. Hopefully this gets me closer to dunking!
Steven Celi Thanks to you because you talk clearly, I mean I can understand very well (I tried with News Tv I can't it's so fast lol) in consequence you teach me a lot in basketball, thank you keep the good work bro ✌💪

Question Steven, why do the majority of two foot jumpers lean on their dominant leg and have the second plant leg cave in ( as in the case of CJ) ? It looks like knee valgus which isn’t proper biomechanics. Wouldn’t you prefer both your knees to line up with your toes ? Thanks for the videos by way brother !!!
Bro can you help me out? I am 100% a one foot jumper, i jump a lot higher of one foot, but the problem is that i think i been jumping with the wrong foot... My strong foot is the right, i played 5 years soccer so my right is 100% the stronger one, but when i start the run-up i end up jumping with the left foot, i still jump pretty high but i think i could jump almost twice with my right foot because everytime i'm training my vert with one leg box jump i always struggle with the left to jump on a high box, while with the right i can do it 3 times easier. But the problem is when i try to start the run-up with my left foot to jump with the right one, i do like a weird weak ass run-up that cancel all my momentum so i end up losing bounce and explosivity, please help me how can i fix that?
It’s because you’ve jumped w ur left foot so much that ur muscles developed a memory so you don’t have to think about doing it. But when you try to jump w ur right foot it’s against ur muscle memory and ur body does that weird ass thing as a way of telling u ur doing it wrong. You just gotta keep trying it over and over again until ur body gets used to it. It’s like dribbling. Obviously when u start to play ball ur gonna dribble w ur dominant hand better bc ur used to it. U gotta keep dribbling w the weak hand until u become comfortable. I know it’s the opposite for u in ur leg situation, but the same concept applies.
@@mijkwgeblwxz6853 makes sense thanks bro, i'm already working on it from one week, and for now i can jump a little bit higher with my right than with my left, so i already did progress, but i think i can jump even more higher. Ill keep trying. 🤗

Ale awesome 👍🤾🏾♂️ keep working. what’s ur vert? And how tall r u? I’m only 5’7 but I can grab rim jumping off my left foot. But for 2 feet I can only barely touch it if I’m lucky.
@@mijkwgeblwxz6853 im 6'1 and my vert is around 30 with my left foot, with my right still gotta measure it, but i think like 1 more inch than with my left.
I ain't really a crazy jumper i just can one hand and two hands dunk, gotta learn how to windmill, tomahawk, 360 since i got the height and maybe the vert
@@mijkwgeblwxz6853 btw you got crazy hops for grabbing the rim at 5'7! You almlst there bro all you need is like 1-2 more inchs, just do a week of split bulgarian squat, tuck jumps, lateral bounds, and if you have the possibility some weight squats
This was really helpful.. love from Pakistan ❣️🙏
I got crazy good form bro what I don’t get is the guys without form but have dummy bounce
Great breakdown, what's your height?
Thanks Steven!!!❤️
no doubt!!
Great video man really useful
Thx i was always fuckin up these last two steps they werent really big like youre saying they are supposed to be
Quality content bro 👌
thanks a lot dude!
@Steven Celi, great stuff! I.m 49 and 6ft 2 and 274lbs and lift hard 4 days a week and looking to dunk for the 1st time. Will these drills increase my vertical alone or do u recommend some other drills for that?
How did you increase your height and lessen the awkwardness of your opposite plant?
what do you mean?
Steven Celi I just made it sound way more confusing my bad😂, but I meant how did you get your opposite plant almost on the same level of your normal plant
I am 14 5”9 and I have lobbed and dunked a couple times off one foot but I am now trying to get my two foot jump better
watch some volleyball, you pretty much want to be more explosive instead of bouncy
Goat
💚 💚 💚
cool video, but i got a question why are their knee bending backward? does it make the vertical better?
before takeoff or after?
ah... just realized that you mentioned it at the end of the video. lol
My problem is that I can't plam the ball I'm high enough tho
baller D Work on hand strength ig. Finger push-ups would help
Such good info man!
appreciate it man!!
Steven Celi your vids have helped me out a ton and keep me motivated. In the last 3 months my vert has increased 5.5inches. I still got about 11inches to go before I start yamming but I’ll keep pushing! How long did it take you from the first day you start trying to getting your first 10ft dunk?
I am 511 height very athletic i can catch the rim with two hands easy but i cant dunk with the ball , how many months of working this program do you think i need to dunk it?0
4-6 months i think you can def dunk!
I need advise... you’ve seen my videos, and I typically jump off 1, but recently... jumping off of 1 has been kind of awkward feeling. And jumping off of 2 is starting to feel more natural. But to me, left right feels better rather than right left as u do. But why are my 1 foot jumps starting to feel more awkward???
just keep jumping off both one foot and two foot dont stop. idk maybe you're getting stronger and going to fast now?? just try to look at your technique and find out exactly where it feels strange
Steven Celi alright. Thanks.
Can you jump everyday or do you also have to rest for jumping
Off of one I can get my fingers about 3 inches over the rim how do I convert to two feet, I feel like if I successfully converted to two feet I could dunk
Jake Valentine you don’t have to convert, you should practice both
Great video!
thanks man!
wow. thank you for such an in-depth tutorial video and how to clip and short film. i am going to the basketball courts rim to practice those technique(s) in 13minutes and 45 seconds after i finish eating my bagel bites and doritos, along with my diet mountain dew. always drink diet soda. it’s better for you. you just gained a subscriber. please continue to make videos exactly like this. except shorter. and with more pictures and less talking and less webcam. we don’t need to see your face. also kobe retired so you shouldn’t wear his shoes anymore. 🧠
DUUUUDEEE!! BUUUUUDE!! appreciate the love of likeness i really apartinish your enthusiasm!! Im gonna only listen to everything you say and from now on i will only wear deceased players shoes such as Wallaby Yorkis Jr. People like you are the reason i sing despite my being born with a lopsided larynx 💚 💚 💚 💚 💚 💚 💚 💚
Steven Celi wow. i too was born w/ a lopsided pharynx and ulna. my femurs are misplaced so i can only dunk in a circle. this movie you made was so helpful. i can’t believe you replied to me. much love. i just unsubscribed and subscribed again. so it counts as 2 subscribers. i love you follow me on instagram @wayofadam
That looks like the la fitness in north Miami
Hey Steven love your videos and I have been watching for about a month and a half now and I wanted to know if I should start recording my own dunks? Not sure yet because I’m not the best but I’m apart of the under 6 foot club
thanks bro! yea definitely!
Bro thanks i asked you on the stream for this! Thanks
yesss!! np!
When I jump I feel so explosive but I’m not getting super high. I play basketball and lift almost everyday. U have any advice?
