Got to drive it in dirt before you change that rear end!!!! Dont do aluminum rear trailing arms, get the rpm, they have a replacement skid plate, my experience is i brake the skid before the arm and just replace the skid
I was going to write that but saw your comment. UDR is a drift in the dirt car, not a concrete car. You will loose the realism when drifting ! Also, bash it light, it's not a "send it" car, it's a fun and realistic drive. Enjoy the UDR, it's my most enjoying car, to "send it" I use my X-Maxx ;-)
Add the open diff....you'll love it.....don't do 6s.....or it will break more....traxxas 6700 4s is plenty fast......I've had mine for 2 years.....and love it...great video👍
I think the UDR is the coolest looking truck out there. The problem is you pay a pretty heavy toll for the looks. When I say heavy I mean it. It looks like it needs way stiffer suspension and thicker sway bars or you will be walking to flip it back over as much as you are driving it. A spec class would be awesome fun and look cool for spectators. Nice video Mark.
I own a UDR and I love it. BTW you can turn the car off by holding down the ESC Button for 3 seconds. You dont have to disconnect the battery to get it to turn off. Unless there is some random software update that i do not know about.
Hey Mark! You probably won't have to worry about shutting it off! You will running so much that the batteries will be out of juice and you will be looking for another set to put in it to keep running!😉👍🤣😂🤣
The solid Axel is at home off road. If you are mostly pavement then put the differential in. 4 s is more fun. Slightly slower. More control and you get to watch the suspension work.
Ok so I'm new......and dipping through your very long list of videos, I've come to the conclusion that I'm so glad I picked a Slash as my first rc! Everything else is so needlessly complicated!! 😅😅😅 Love you content though, I'm learning so much about this awesome hobby! Keep up the great work. 🤘
Your lower trailing arms, just fill the holes with a syringe of epoxy (whatever the brand). They tend to bend during high impact, so this will limit that. Just got my second one, Rigid. Will upgrade some parts during winter. Most important upgrade : Servo ! Never had an issue so far with the plastic hub. Have some alu ones but I'll wait until they're gone. Also got a second set of wheels with Proline Hyrax on...More traction but more body roll (maybe reduced by open diff though). You will break something on the UDR ! It's though but not as tough as Traxxas Monster truck ! Favorite RC car as of now, I just enjoy the drifts on dry grass or dirt, just amazing. The locked spool is useful in the loose stuff.
I'll be honest. I'm not crazy about the UDR. It looks good but a pain in the butt to work on. That new paint job on the XMaxx is freaking sweet dude! Love it.
They both look awesome but I like more scale looks & love the spare tires in the back. The fire extinguishers even the fake cooling fans. Hope to see you Wednesday.
The Udr also flips really easily when on grass also unless your really hammering on the throttle, but where it really shines is in the gravel and dirt tracks ! Also I’m not really liking the new MSM body as the first M is too narrow and you really can’t make it out unless in the shade as you could see it easier when you showed the side that wasn’t in the sun but I think it would’ve looked a lot better with the MSM in some kind of actual colour and not the chrome. Also I was going to mention that having to unplug your batteries because the actual button won’t work isn’t a programming error but is a flaw, as Traxxas also did it this way with the Erevo’s , so if you like using the button and it actually still works for you then don’t do the update when you go into the app and it asks you to do it and you won’t have that problem, Traxxas did that so people don’t forget to unplug their batteries after using it to save you from running your lipos to 0 and potentially never being able to recover them, at least that’s what they told me , because I told them I wasn’t happy with always having to unplug my batteries straight after using my unit and told them we should have the option to return to the older file we had on our units so we could restore the button function and they said once you do the update it’s to late and we can’t return it to our previous update, I think the updates should show what’s being updated so we have the option to do it or not ! Plus I wanted to mention that as much as I’d like to have two of everything and I do have multiples of a handful of units I decided it was sorta silly just because I wanted to keep one fresh and a shelf queen so I just started removing my original bodies and buying a spare body to play with and I’ll tell you it saves hoards of money and it’s a way smarter way to go. Sounds like working on this RC is pretty tedious when it comes to taking off the body and I don’t think those fox racing shock caps are worth it if you can’t even see them, but the window nets look awesome Great Job
Traxxas really needs to incorporate anti spark connectors in their live Id plugs. Can't stand it arcing everytime I connect my lipos. I imagine it can't be good for your electronics either. Switched to anti spark xt90s on all my rigs with a cap pack to help soften the initial surge of voltage coming from lipos. I believe that Arrma and their IC5 connectors are anti spark and most of their vehicles come with cap pacs as well 🤘

Mark what do you do for work? the houses are massive in ur neighborhood, and just use a piece of foam or yoga blocks are super cheap and work perfect for storing big monster trucks , get ur rigs off the ground 👍

Cool truck, love mine. You should upgrade the suspension arms. I put aluminum ones from Hot racing. They have have held up for two years now. Should also put grease in the axles, it keeps dirt from getting into your rear diff. One last thing, upgrade your front driveshaft, it will break. Traxxas sells one for cheap. Mine has been really good after these upgrades. 🤘
These things is insane they are so fun to drive! Too bad they get crazy traction on asphalt, good thing every time I flipped mine there wasn't a body on it
Use the RPM rear trailing arms and the skids, the lights are controllable by your mobile or a button the top, Get the Pro-Line Hyrax tyres and a set of alloy wheels from Vitavon on ebay, also the Pro-Line Isenhourer body or a clear one it is a 1967 FORD F100 race truck body looks ace, Look at all Vitiavon RC4WD and GPM alloy parts. You have to drive it way different more like you would a 1-1 truck, dont take the rear locker out and fit a normal diff in unless you get an alloy diff housing.
Not a bug in the software. Traxxas removed the power off to prevent power surging, damaging the ESC. My Xmaxx, Erevo, slash, and UDR all came with tags that say not to turn off the model with the switch. Annoying yes. Bit better than a model on fire like my trx6 lol

I picked up a used New Fox UDR fro a guy he had never ran it at all the paperwork was still in the battery compartment and not a scuff on it and he had bought the light kit for it also still in the box and some other parts for it got it all for real great deal!😉 On that on you have I don't see the light bar across the top of the front windshield? I've been running 4s in it for most of the summer in the fall I popped in two 3s packs and it flys your going to love it! I see another on for a great price and I picked that one up too! Same thing guy just ran in the open fields clean as a whistle with lights in it already!😉👍
That new Xmaxx body is freaking beautiful 😻 Good thinking to have a personalized Xmaxx body that stands out! You could have use small zip ties instead of the screws for the window mesh. After all the zip ties will be obscured once you put the body on. It’s definitely a pain to put the screws in and that I agrees with you Mark. Sometimes DIY is a way to solve some problems. well I learned something about the UDR, I had no idea that it would roll over so easy on pavement, never driven it on pavement myself.. yeah I will pass, Desert Racer is in the name. Working on it may be a bit bothersome, but it is a hobby and it's supposed to take time and patience. Gotten a couple body cracks which I just Shoe Goo 'd inside to keep the cracks from extending further, till I get a new body.. hoping for some more body paint and graphics, like to see the whole Trophy Truck field represented. XMaxx is looking pretty sweet.
Hey Mark, you probably know already but if you dont it might be a good idea to use some tape or something on the sides of the body, where the screws go in, between the wheels. Its very thin and weak there and the screws on mine popped through the body after a couple sessions. Also the two screws on the back of the body is worth to strengthen with soem tape, cause when it breaks the body flaps around in the back there. Congrats with the UDR i think yo will love it. I drive mine hard as heck and ive only broken the front bumper and a couple rear trailing arms.
The bet way to turn with the udr from my experience is gassing it on turns. Cant make quick turns while going fast but it's like a real truck that's built like this. If you have no acceleration youll most likely flip at speed. I guess its just how the suspension works, when you accelerate it doesnt flip as much, also gotta do wider turns. Super fun truck to drive around.
Traxxas had a tag on my esc that says to unplug the battery to turn esc off. I think they do it to make sure you don't kill your lipo by leaving it plugged in.
You could not have driven the UDR on a worse surface! It looked super grippy? It’s a Trophy Truck, use it on sand and dirt and you’ll realise why it’s sooo good.

This is the best car I could not recommend.....To work on it is a pain, I swapped out the entire cage for the shiny satin finish and man was I sorry.....This is just something nice to sit on the shelf as a model.
@@TerraQuestRC I have to disagree. Most real trophy trucks have so much power that they can wheelie. The udr on 6s represents this much better than if it's on 4s.

I have had my body off more than on . Alot of durability issues. But l run my stuff and bash it alot harder than you. Blown planetary. Blown pinion spurs. Alot of stuff. Tighten your motor mounts after the first few run. Had a screw back out and take out pinion and spur.

Sweet eh! Make sure you tape the wheel holes and vent the tires if you plan on going in the sand.

Very fun truck l love mine. Awsome on wet pavement and grass loose dirt. I left mine locked up.

You don't have to take the body off often. Most breakage is fixable from underneath.

The only thing I don't like about this truck is, I've heard its not made for bashing and if you drive it in mud water snow its hard to clean

I have had my body off more than on . Alot of durability issues. But l run my stuff and bash it alot harder than you. Blown planetary. Blown pinion spurs. Alot of stuff. Tighten your motor mounts after the first few run. Had a screw back out and take out pinion and spur.
