Condorman was drawn by Frank Bolle, one of the most generic artists in the history of comics. He lived to be 95 and just passed away in 2020.

I remember on my day off from work, i would catch a 1/2 hour bus to a certain arcade that had a gauntlet machine where i would spend hours playing gauntlet . I played it so much that i got to a point where i spent 75 cent and would played for about 8 hours on that 75 cent. Arcade 1up has a 3 player arcade cabinet that has gauntlet, joust and rampage. All 3 games are true to the arcade and was i think was in a 3/4 size cabinet. I bought mine many years ago and you could probably find a used one on ebay for not much money.

I only have 3 Jack Kirby FF books, but I am so honored to have them. I found them for a couple bucks in my early days of collecting when I first learned of the legend 🤘🔥

John, I must take you to task. You show us the Condorman miniseries yet fail to mention the movie's stars: a pre-Phantom Of The Opera Michael Crawford, Barbara Carrera who also starred in such classics as "Embryo" and "Lone Wolf McQuade" and the wonderful Oliver Reed who, when not drunk, was an amazing actor of great range and intensity. Sure, The LA Times called Condorman the movie "dull and dispiriting" but still.....
Barry Windsor-Smith also did some very nice work for Marvel's early Bronze Age supernatural books.

The digest format is under-rated, especially for kids! DC tried, but I think one problem with the stories they reprinted was that they didn't transfer very well to that format. The dialogue bubbles and text became a micro font which was a lot harder to read. Archie got the format right, making it easy to read. For DC completists out there, finishing off the digest run is quite the challenge!

I remember seeing the digest Comics and lots of grocery store magazine sections. I have fun memory of them. I was surprised when I went to a Barnes & Noble store and found that they still have Archie digests in the magazine racks. Here I thought all newsstand comics were a thing of a past time fondly remembered period. So with that in mind head over to your local Barnes & Noble and check out the new Stan version of Archie digest comic books

I remember watching Condorman in the theatre in 1981 with my cousin as we were having a sleepover and it was the only film playing at the local theatre (this was before every theatre was a multiplex - although where we saw Condorman is still a stand alone theatre with one screen and they play classic films, but not Condorman). We were the only people in the theatre that summer afternoon. Things went better when he slept over my house later that summer and we went to see Airplane!

Hope you have a great 60th birthday Richard . I’m a little older than you . We’re in a growing demographic of older comic collectors . I hope enough youngsters replace us when our time is done .

Are those scuffs on the outside or inside? I’ve heard you can use Polywatch to buff them out

I had a babysitters husband come into my house back in 1990 and take Amazing Fantasy 15 off my wall, he then grabbed from my shelf Spiderman 6-20. My 14 & 16 were near mint. I had bought them at a comic con in 1983 for $100 each. There isn’t a day that goes by I don’t think about that day! What are some of the worst stories you’ve ever heard?

Love the new drinking game. Thank god John didn’t show a Doll Man bondage cover or we would have all needed to do a double shot.

Guantlet Legends was released in the late 90’s and was a modern take on the game. Dark Legacy was an expansion/sequel. Both games were excellent multiplayers and I believe the arcades let you save your progress.

Had to duck out for work. Was going to say that towards the end of the Best of DC run, it pretty much alternated between Superman/Best of the Year and humor titles. Loved the Best of issues, because I either wanted my favorites to be included as "Best of" or I got a chance to read stuff that I didn't normally read. It's also a place you can get Swamp Thing's "The Anatomy Lesson" for (maybe) less than the original issue.

I've had no luck selling my books on Instagram or eBay. I'm getting to the point where I may just drop them off at a Goodwill. People used to throw their books in the trash after they were read, but as a collector I'm not at that point yet. Any thoughts?

60 is just a number. A very, very BIG number.
Just kidding, Richard... I hit it nearly 2 years ago and my life has never been better.
