It’s an amazing show at a unique venue, but best of all it’s an incredible place to trade for some awesome comic books… and I traded for 3 HUGE ones! I'm extremely happy you saw my buddy Threesixty Comics and got to meet Mike aka Pope of Chili Town. Both are great friends and some of the best members of the community. I hope to make it to Terrific Con this year to meet you in person you are one of my favorite comic RUclipsrs. I think you did great on the haul. Trading books and using them to get the grails you want are such a great thing and The Fantastic Four 49 is not only one of the best Silver Age covers but one of the best covers ever in comics.
Great pick ups Mike. You can never go wrong on a trade if it's books you really want. I traded a she-hulk 1, nyx 4 and a SIKTC 3 2nd print all cbcs 9.8's for a FF 52. It's a book I always wanted and as a kicker the vendor threw in a Teen Titans 12 cgc 9.6 1st Batman who laughs. Collect what you love. 👊🏼
Mike, incredible pick-ups. What you spend on comics should be relative to your disposable income. In that sense nothing has changed with your philosophy. No we can't all do it. But it's nice to live vicariously through someone who appreciates the reverence with which we hold these items. Keep up the great content and thanks. P.S. Nobody sounded like they shamed themselves in the karaoke department 😅

I think getting those incredible books the way you did still holds true to the ethos of your channel and your approach to collecting. You got those trade books at such great deals, you used them towards getting 3 wallet buster books 😂 Congrats!
FF 48-50 is probably one of the most famous and important story lines in the history of Marvel Comics. One of my favorites.
Mike, stop apologizing for “trading up”. Haters hate to start from the bottom. You made connections and look for deals.
7.5/8.0 is realistic only if it didn't have the foxing. More likely a 6.5, 7.0 max.
I had comic spa work on it already and believe it or not he removed most of the foxing. I still think it’s a 7.5
@@lunchmoneycomics That's great, then the book could well be an 8.0 contender after clean and press. Fingers crossed that you don't get the same stingy grader that gave you a 4.5 on your Hulk 181, I felt that book deserved a 5.0 minimum if not 5.5

Amazing Spider-Man #41! I used to have that book and about two dozen pre-100 books from the Silver Age, and a complete run from issue 100 into the 300s Todd McFarlane run. If I had held onto those books I could sell them now for $150,000 at least! But for personal reasons I gave them all away back when they still weren’t worth much, ah well, what goes around comes around.

Mike, I see you're trying to fill in "The Galactus Trilogy... I can relate.. Picked up Gd range copies of #s 49 & 50 @ $12 each. Still trying to track down 48!! That bloody movie!!

What an awesome haul! That Moon Knight is amazing and I need it. But I agree with you, that FF is definitely the best silver age cover. Kirby is king! I’m super stoked to have one in my pc. Now I just need to find a 48 lol
Just needed to buy that Moonknight 10 years ago when he was less cultly popular. Hindsight, I would have purchased a first mile morales for $100
It's great the you bought that D&D book. To be honest, I would like to see you show off more of your antique collection. I recently bought a book from 1879 and it's my oldest book. It isnt comics but a piece of history. Im kinda bored with comics recently because i already exceeded the cap. I already have so many.

Put the fantastic four 49 right next to your 48. (I know you don't want to grade stuff but for 48 you should make an exception).
Congrats on your new Keys, Mike. Great deal on that FF49! I got that in a CGC 4.5 during the boom and the price on that book has really come back down a lot but at that price/trade it was a steal for you.
Happy for you Mike! Don't worry about some of the books being outside the "lunch money" price range, because obviously some of the real gems and grails out there are going to cost more, but are also an investment. Happy to see you pick up these beauties as much as you grabbing cool dollar books too. All the best from RI man, and hope to bump into you at one of the New England shows sometime.
Michael T Gilbert is an awesome dude!!! He and his wife who worked with him as well lived in Eugene, Oregon for yrs and I worked at a local shop here for yrs and got to meet him and talk with him a bunch... such a nice guy, I had a bunch of his Mr. Monsters signed in my last collection before I sold it out of need.

Love Gary! We had him on our channel to do an interview...we do mostly sports card content but a lot of what Gary talks about is very translatable to all hobbies!

Haha I just sold one of those AD&D 6th printings as well. I got it for xmas in 1980 and never even had opened it.
That FF book you got is definitely on my list of books to get. Great stores and shows over there in New England. Here in So Cal very hard to find deals like that….

Congratulations on your great pickups. I see you have been eyeing captain america one hundred in the last couple of shows. You have worked yourself up to this higher level of collecting. Each family has a certain amount of disposable wealth. The Connections that you've made through your hobby and youtube has given you these opportunities, which I feel you should cash in on every chance you get. Good for you and I love seeing all these neat books.

Wow! That’s a great price for the comics ya got. Are you planning on having any of them graded? Also, what’s the story of the X-men pic on display behind ya? I just had FF#49 in a low grade and sold it for alot cause I am still saving up for a TMNT#1 and once I get it then I am gonna quiet collecting comics for awhile.
