    Thought I'd see old dirty units this part of the country, but the two SD70s out of Brush Creek Tunnel looked brand new. Nice low level camera shot .

    I remember pushing that train up the gorge @ 20:21. I was on a D571 job as conductor and we had to go to Green Mountain with a single engine to go get some cars and a Bad Order of the main there at Green Mountain. CSXT/CRR 8128 is currently still floating around on the clinchfield in local and Yard service atm.

    So sad! I still can't believe what happened to the Clinchfield in 2015. I remember getting ELFX, OUCX, GALX, SCWX and more coal trains daily off of the Clinchfield to us in Spartanburg. Now coal trains are almost nonexistent in Spartanburg.

      It’s definitely gotten worse on the coal side, but it’s still hanging on pretty good considering what it was.

    Very nice video, I have been watching so many videos about this area before and after the flooding. It is so sad to see all the destruction and so many people's lives uprooted. Thank you for helping out and hope we are all able to do a little something to help. I remember when I was younger there was a model train mag that had a small railroad you could model, it was the Yancey RR, I have followed that on google map the best I could and would love to have seen it operating back in the day. Best to all in that area and stay well and thanks again.

    I wish Amtrak would establish a train using the Clinchfield from Cincinnati or Columbus to Sprtanburg since the line runs right into the Spartanburg station. It would provide service to undeserved areas

    Maybe they should have a private luxury train running from Chicago to Miami and back via the Clinchfield from Elkhorn City to Spartanburg similar to Rocky Mountaineer.

    Now is the time to turn this into a tourist railroad to rival the Great Smoky Mountains Railway. The regular trains are so infrequent it has to be a possibility, right? Erwin to Bostic or somewhere south of the Loops.

    My Dad told me of seeing Clinchfield's steam sitting there in Erwin waiting to be scrapped in the early 60s, including their Challenger articulated locomotives

    A shame their contractors are botching the job so horribly. Sat and watched them hauling off a buddies property today here in Unaka Springs. Their haste is going to cost the taxpayers hundreds of millions, while simultaneously building an unsafe railbed for the engineers who have to run that line. Federal lawsuits, fines and more on the way.
