I always do searches every now and then about LK, it’s still one of my favorite games. I wish they’d make a 3, or remake it. Today’s time is perfect for this title, especially on The switch.
The best part about card combinations was that it didn't matter how much you had already used a card. If you needed four cards to do a combo, you could use each of those 4 cards individually until just before they ran out (unless they were summons), then combo them. It gave some of the weapon and follower cards extended uses/shelf life.
Still remember 5ge greatest combo TO THIS DAY 2 Rhombus/ Rhemuses (Green one eyed dogs) 1phoenix. If you throw them in same area the two Rhemuses heal each other, keeping them alive. This is almost unbeatable but when you throw Phoenix in same area it protects them and you. From there on throw any monster and you'll win guarantee

Glad to see this video, big fan of LK2. :) You have to read between the lines to get the full backstory on Tara's name. Tara is called "Tara Grimface" because that's the name other people gave her. We see Tara abandoned by her well off family when they take her on a carriage as a young child and deliberately leave without any explanation. Tara is consequently forced to live with bandits and be raised by them. She was given that name for having an unhappy expression all the time. Naturally, the bandits have never met her before, so this is the only Tara they know.
I remember getting this game after adoring the first one and being too put off by the differences, mainly things like the story and characters, lack of random encounters, and the fact that I didn't recognize all the cards anymore. I think if I went back to it now I'd find more to enjoy about it, but the first will always have a special place in my heart.
Lost kingdoms and lk2 are two of my all time favorite games. Such masterpieces at their time, and I can go back to playing it to this day and still love it
i know this vid is a little old but the best way to circumvent sol dieing in the escort mission was putting 2 combo healer cards together it was the fairy and rheebus or w.e its called and have 2 of them stack on top of each other since sol could get healed and it would repelnish the other combo card so you would have infinite heal. i did multiple playthroughs of this game and enjoyed it a bunch. not recently though
The way you described the combat, with limited moves and mana usage was really interesting. Like I would enjoy this game for novelty alone. I really enjoy old FROMSOFT games for their novelty alone. You were correct when you mentioned once how experimental they were. I'm actually interested in known if any of the devs had interest in Magic or other CCGs. As for FROMSOFT sequels, wasn't Armored Core 2 a big step up from PS1 ACs? 7/10 needs more Kreal.
Just as an aside, I would like to add that your review is pretty spot on, but as for "combo cards", 3 main things I want to add: 1) If the combo cards are "action" cards, use them until their last usage, PRIOR to using them as a combo. Doing it in this way ensures you can get the most out of every card. 2) An untold massive benefit of combo cards is that, while they don't always provide more damage than the individual cards combined, they DO ignore elemental attributes, and thus their mana costs are low, and provide REALLY nice burst (if used correctly) with a few exceptions. 3) Lastly, combo cards absolutely SHINE in the end game. When you have every card available (or almost every card, fuck you pumpkin card), some of these cards can be absolutely devastating, and some become even more powerful with the combos. One of my absolute favorite cards, and combo cards in the entire game, is the Skeleton combo. When you summon said combo card, they walk around and the "Ice" skeleton is the one walking around, meaning all the tankiness, and also slowness, is attached. When the Ice skeleton finally moves for an attack, the regular skeleton, water (demon?) skeleton, and steel skeleton all jump out and attack WITH the ice skeleton. Each time the Ice skeleton attacks, if all 4 hits land, it does MORE damage than the lizard combo... except it keeps on moving and attacking. The absolute best way for this card to shine is in enclosed spaces with high-difficulty monsters that AREN'T the demon swordsman (his attacks auto-drain the life of your cards). Specifically, in the final floor of the proving grounds, before you can fight the Emperor, you are locked into a room with the 4 god cards: The Golden Phoenix, the Blue Dragon, the Great Turtle, and the White Tiger. The Ice Skeleton, if you are lucky, and are able to get it to fight 1 on 1 against each god by luring them close, is capable of killing all 4 gods by himself. Normally there are only 2 ways to beat the gods: by expending almost every card in your arsenal, and then bringing in the mind-flayer combo or the Blue Dragon to restore all the cards burned so you still have something to fight. Or by bringing along a Berserker Master (this causes the gods to fight amongst themselves). I personally prefer the Skeleton Combo, because it is useful in other floors when you only have to fight 1 or 2 "god-like" monsters, such as 1 black dragon with allies, or 2 black dragons, or pazuzus. Normally in a Berserk Master + 2 enemies scenarios, they are still highly likely to fight the Berserker Master while fighting each other, but in the 4 gods battle, the dragon/pheonix/tiger all fight while the turtle fires off artillery shells and so it normally works in this specific case. Again, combo cards shine in the end game, in areas where you need to burn through 40+ cards to be able to reliably clear, you need to max your attribute bonuses as well as cards to bring back other cards, or "heal" cards. With the mind flayer combo you can bring back I believe up to 20 cards, and is one of the best combo cards in the game. Sacrifice 2 cards to get 20 back? AWESOME! Another card that is often over-looked is Rheebus. It is a stationary monster that heals in an area in front of it... But you can put a second Rheebus in front of the FIRST Rheebus, and they infinitely heal each other, the cards will never burn out and will heal you and any monsters in the area. Super useful when you summon monsters :) Again, this was way too much to talk about a game I loved from way too long ago, but I felt the need to explain that some of the mechanics didn't make too much sense until you got used to them, and once you got into the end game. I would also like to point out some cards are just absolute crap, and their combos are even worse, but that's fine! Many people think the Skeleton Combo is crap, but I think it's one of the most broken things in the game! We are entitled to our own opinions. All I want is for LK 3 to be released on the switch lol
If you do another run of this game: if you max out an element, what element tara is changes. and you get all the strengths and weaknesses of that element. (which you touched on) so the best defensive element for her is Machine. If you're struggling with mana costs early on, Skeletons and the UPGRADED Aggressor actually clear out a lot of things. For the boss you said you had trouble with: Throw down two Mechapults at the entrance and walk towards the other side.

I remember the secret ending where you can keep Sol alive, but never Tara's mom. How do you do this? I'd look it up, but the internet doesn't have much on this game.
3:14: all the voice actors are 4kids holdovers, hell, the brat from the 1st flashback that wants kid terra to hand over her runestone sounds just like Gary Oak and Rashianu has the same voice as Mai Valentine from yugioh, witch is fitting given that this is a childrens card game.
I pefer part 2 over part1. I played part 2 first & ome month later i got the first game. So the firat game felt hollow compared to the 2nd. Part 2 was faster & had a better story. Part 1 gelt like a demo compared to part 2. The company had time to improve everything in part 1. And bought that over in part 2. I felt a bit let down when i played the first game. But i understanded improvements are made over time. I still loved both games
How are these games not on switch yet! They need a remaster and reboot like now playing the 1st one now and moving on to the second next sadly I have to emulate them because there next to impossible to find anywhere...
The leveling curve was never a problem for me, as when you use the right cards for the right situations everything always played out right. Like for the fight against the giant demon you use the mech catapult and was super easy to cheese or you could just use succubus to do mega damage since chaos element
i loved this game as a kid played both part 1 and 2 but when trying to come back to part 1 kept getting dic read errors and trying to get the emperor without the game crashing was a bitch
10:55: if that whole needed to grind line was for the 1st encounter with the god of harmonies body like the visual s imply, then this is where comboc are a goos thing, 2 lizardmen combos + storm hagans whirlwind +having a stone golem on standby if the storm hagans RNG isn't in you favor= you winning the battle
I don't know i kind of have to disagree about the combo system as I didn't have many issues with it. But that's just me knowing which combos had the best results

I always felt like a genius when I discovered this exploit.
I used to do that with the black dragon. The heals were high enough to keep his drawback of using my health pool from being an issue.

This game should have a community romhacking it. This was my dream Pokemon game.

You can use thi to set up an imortal catapult and to heal up your transforms. Then just put away the healers and keep going

LK1 was really good, but I found that it got really hard and I didn't get the strategy down
