I have the crest symbol tattooed on my right hand. Finding a complete image of it was basically impossible because it kept varying too much between concept art, until I discovered a rare copy of the novel mentioned in 3:15 being sold online for ¥700. I went to buy it but unfortunately I was too late, someone just beat me to it. I went to Google looking for anything at that point and found a post on Reddit from the person who'd bought it saying they were working on translations. So I made an account just to message them asking if the novel had any images of the crest. Shortly after they got back to me with an image of the full thing! So not long after that I was able to booked in with my tattooist and get it put on my hand. I look back on the post occasionally to see if the translations are coming along but I think they've moved onto other things now. I frequently get asked by people if it's the Dishonoured tattoo which I'd never played, so I was surprised to learn it looks very similar. I even met someone with the Dishonoured tattoo at a gaming convention so I asked them if I could get a picture of both our hands just to have a side-by-side comparison haha.
Oh hey! That’s me! I think about your post too from time to time, it was a wonderful memory 😊 Don’t worry, I’m still working on the translations but life is getting in the way. 3/6 chapters done!
I have very fond memories of this game. I got in a horrible car accident in 2003 and had a broken femur, so I was bedridden for a few months. A friend of mine gave me a copy of this and I put in lots of hours playing it. Loved it despite all its flaws and still hope to have my own dandelion field someday.
That soul bind share the pain curse is quite relatable in your case but you had a positive outcome with it. I liked Faeana’s plot twist and pancake weapons lol tough game
You know, earlier today, I was really wracking my brain really hard to remember something--and it led me to your Evergrace video. I kept thinking that it was odd, that maybe I was just misremembering the game (it's been like two decads, after all, and memory fades). After watching it, I was convinced that what I was remembering was that particular game, but actually, no, it's this one. Rambling aside, I am quite happy to see someone covering such an obscure game from my childhood. Thank you. Liked and subscribed!
Looks like I got lucky after finishing the Evergrace video, with how quick this one came out. Glad you made videos on these games, since although they look interesting I'm very bad at completing games, let alone dealing with the process of trying to emulat- I mean legal acquire them (though both would be a pain).
Super cool video ! Thank you for those informations, you can tell your videos are well researched ! and thank you for welcoming me on the Discord ! :) looking forward to more of your work ! :)
Fantastic video, as someone who doesnt have too much time for video games like I used to, this video alongside the Evergrace vid allow me to enjoy the two games even deeper as an album/art piece. Interesting to learn about the background behind them as well, I had no idea that Evergrace started out on the PS1.
Thank you for taking the time to watch!! My latest video is almost done it just keeps getting put on the sidelines because of IRL things, but I'm definitely not finished putting out videos.
@@LvlJake it was a pleasure to watch. Quest 64 was one of the first games I got for the n64 and evergrace was the game I got with my ps2 because I liked how the cover looked. You covering them both his my nostalgia in a really hard way.
Judging by how great the soundtrack is, maybe the Evergrace franchise could have had an anime back in the early 2000s for either MTV, Adult Swim, CW or Comedy Central.
I think I’d cry if Evergrace was ever turned into an anime. Honestly, a lot of the story beats fit right into a fantasy anime, but the Fromsoftware vibes would make it extra special.
Very ironic how I was just rewatching your Quest videos yesterday and was thinking "I gotta check out that Evergrace video tomorrow" and you upload today hahaha
@@LvlJake I gave up playing due to the actual camera controls of the game but the music and story were quite captivating so your video really helped with getting the full experience! Dark Souls is cool and all but I do wish From went back and did something more experimental like this.
@@HappyZavulon this is what I keep hearing more and more often and honestly I totally agree, I'd love to see FromSoft revisit this kind of setting from their past work
Wow, just when I thought I knew almost all (obscure) PS2 games by now. Thank you so much and good job with this video :) Loved Evergrace back then, even though it was hard to finish due to confusing elemental stuff and some bosses were a pain. Also, Eternal Ring and Shadow Tower: Abyss were also great
I mean, who wouldn't like a Dark Souls movie where Will Ferrell plays the main character?😂😂. With Kevin Hart as an NPC as well as Bill Burr as Patches😂.
The music in both games was remarkable, yet strangely enough I find myself replaying Evergrace 1 more then it's prequel/sequel. Which isn't to say that Forever Kingdom is considerably worse than its predecessor, its just more based on my story preferences. Evergrace 1 feels like you are uncovering the mystery of a lost civilization whereas Forever Kingdom is that BUT ALSO trying to piece together the relationship between two dysfunctional girls which is not as interesting to me. Even if the voice acting was better and the pacing was improved I just think the "Goddesses" aren't as interesting as antagonists as they could have been. Morpheus, for what little we knew of him was charming as a bad guy. I don't know whether I'm supposed to pity these girls or not.
Looks like it transformed into final destiny. Can you imagine if dark souls/elden ring switched to this style? I like the feeling of being by yourself and not knowing where to go and I believe Elden Ring captures this feature from Evergrace. The emphasis is put on the scenery, the music, what you can wear, the skills, and the combat. The story also plays a role but the lost feeling is a key element of the game. Everything isn’t laid out for you like most modern American games.
Let me just point out... For some of us awkward voice acting is awesome. Gives my head a break to "clean the canvas". And good laughs as opposed to games taking themselves wayyy too seriously.
I lovvveeee the 1st one soooo much still replay it from time to time. The music always takes me on a trip. When i came across the 2nd one a few years ago i had to have it.
I'd definitely love it if FromSoftware went back to creating games like this, but with the production values of the Souls games. They definitely know how to create worlds and scenery porn.
Hey man are you still around? I remember you said you had a lot going on in your personal life. I'm just checking to see if you're still making videos and hoping you're doing well.
Yes all good, I'm really bad at predicting when a video is going to be done. Sometimes I'll say "it'll be out next month!" And then months go by without it being finished because I'll obsess over a detail or something I don't think feels right. I've had a video on Radiata Stories that has almost been finished for months that I haven't gotten around to finishing yet. It's taken a lot longer since all the games I've done before are like 10-15 hour rpgs while this one is like 40+. But it will be finished. Thanks so much for sticking around during the dead-time and checking in, I hope you're doing well as well! Feel free to join the discord by the way, I stream in there every other Saturday if thats something you're interested in.
@@LvlJake great choice! Radiata stories is an underrated game. I'm glad you're going to cover it! I'll join you in discord and hopefully talk to you again.
I was hoping Forever Kingdom would also be a single character story, just played better. Ie, Ps2 Dark Souls... But them adding party members just ruins that effect!
Idk what's "secret" about it... But then again, I guess considering how few people even know of Evergrace... To anyone that played Evergrace and saw Darius on the case of this game though, expected it to be related to Evergrace. Also personally, I prefer Evergrace... For no reason other than atmosphere which is primarily thanks to the music... The music of Evergrace created so much atmosphere even where there was none to be found in the visuals,
I guess its a secret since not many people know about Evergrace and Forever Kingdom. Which were 2 games by Fromsoft. But I guess out of Fromsofts old IP's, it seems like only Armored Core was more remembered. Then everything else after that. Would be cool to see Fromsoft to a huge overhaul remake of Evergrace and Forever Kingdom.
