My question is, is it what a new player should go to the advanced creation? Can you reroll your skills to try out other skills? The fact you can only have 100 in 7 skills but there being actually 50+ or w/e is kind of confusing.
I played every mmo thousands of hours since the early 80’s on BBS MUDs. But at the time of UO was about the only gap I ever had in gaming. So I came to it many years later around 2005-6. I’ve tried since them probably 20 times to get into the game and it’s so hard to do because people who do make guides or basic info for the game all come from a prospective of knowing the basics of the game. I really hope to find info this time to help me push past that first phase because there are no other MMO’s like this for me to pull from in my experiences.
Or unless your willing to just spend months and months and months learning the basics while getting killed by other players but even if I do that I always hit a wall where I just can’t find answers or figure out what to do.
@@SticksAandstonesBozohave you tried outlands or UOalive? I have both installed but am too anxious to play because I feel i haven't been able to grasp anything from the tutorials online for the same reasons you shared 😅

Hello Saladid! 🖖 are you planning to release any more UO:O videos? Can I get your opinion on the best choice for mob farming in ossuary in regards to the shield and weapon codex's please? With the codex's do i need to level all 5 options to get a level 5 finnisher?
Excelsior is a much friendlier place to jump into this game without the worries of PKing going on all over the place. But man, I do admire Outlands UI and graphical improvements.
Is there a way to get items to display the description without having to left click it? I wasn't able to figure out how to do it if it's even possible.
Back in the day, it was fsster to train up every "free to level" skills then when you get 700 total skill points you turn the ones you don't want down to keep leveling. Is that still the case

Why when u can train at an npc for a little gold. Altho i have chosen magery for a start skill. I choose the most expensive or hard one to gain and start at 50 skill level with the most expensive or hard ones for each charector i make.
@@atrociousone8803 I'm only now getting into UO again after 16 years trying UO Forever and I swear back in the day you could only train up to like 35. You only started a new character with a 100 gold and magery was a difficult skill to raise especially for a non combat character. Also it was expensive with the cost of reagents. After playing UO forever now I guess it doesn't really matter since you can pay an NPC to train up to 50 now and start with way more gold. unless you want to start with half a spell book and some newbified reagents. I remember buying a ship and setting sail doing 8x8 for hours to raise Magery to GM and beyond. It was the quickest and easiest way. 8x8 probably ain't even a thing anymore.
I can't even begin the game because every character name, no matter how stupid and random or nonsensical, is taken. Even if you hit the keyboard, that will also be taken. This is obviously some kind of glitch, as seen at 5:04
If its classic functionality and they did not change it on this server, it lets you make a campfire to log out, without standing around and be killed. it's mostly useless and he probably raised it to gain dexterity to speed up his hitrate and thus skillgain
@@metagen77 ravenous probably got this answer already but for any other new player looking into the shards: camping lets u build a campfire, campfires will give u a boost to ur damage in pVM and pvp depending on level, it will also let you travel around point of interest that u already visited with "hiking" this acts like a slower recall but is practically free... And finally and probably the most important thing is that it will improve your maximum carry weight allowing u to carry 550 instead of the 390 you get from 100 str... So yeah is one of the most useful abilities specially for a new player
this video took you 30 minutes... that means it only would have taken you 30 minutes to run through this once and actually know what you're talking about so we wouldn't have to "bear with you" while you figure it out 🙄
FYI In advanced character creation, it's worth putting 1 point in a 3rd skill to get that skills starting items

If I remember correctly you can get a rested bonus, as well as you can instant log out. It may have different functions on this server.
Always started every character with at least 30 magery. So you can at least Recall from the start. Recalling saves a lot of time

The default settings on this game just don't make any sense at all.
They must have changed it to 75 at shelter island. Made a new character today.
