  • UPDATE - Mob difficulty has been significantly adjusted. The layout is the same however.
    Hey all. I had quite a few requests to do a video on my build and to give an explanation on Aspects, Codex, and Mastery Chains in regards to my build.
    Make sure to check out Amish Hammer's channel as well as he was the inspiration for this build.

    Really great Vid. i got my first two chain links and put 1.75% accuracy and then Melee dmg 1.75. I am water aspect for the alch bonus, being my first char on the account wanted something with survivability. From your notes look like there is a combined Accuracy/defence which i didn't know existed. Also ill get the swing speed next. Thanks for the content.

    i used to play a lot of UO back in the days and started now on outlands. im very conflicted already. outlands has a lot of additonal content but it seems to be an enormous pvm grind to progress. what i loved about uo is the simplicity. you could equip a weapon, few bandages and potions and already have a good time. or just a few regs on your mage and already go hunting. your own skill made a huge difference. is outland what i fear it is? just a huge grind?

    damn i have this similar template, but its my first time on outlands so replace resists with tracking for now, and maybe later ill switch. But what should i start saving for? should i start with doing codex or the other thing, aspects? Do you need to have a house to use this stuff? you have all this stuff laying on the ground, but can you do it from a bank box?

    hello, great video. can i ask a question? you think its possible to start with a dexxer which is not a bard and get some gold like that? everyone keeps pushing the bard bard bard as a first character to get money with peacekeeping but it just bores me so much, hitting sleeping mobs. id much rather have a challenge and just farm the gold as a dexxer and learn to survive like that. is it completely futile?

      Hey hey Ratafak! Ask all the questions you, Ill do you one better, you can DM me the question on discord as well! I am on the main Outlands discord as A Straw Hat.
      I started as a pure dexxer 6 months ago and it was an uphill battle as I picked the worst of the melee builds and slowest of the aspects for it haha. However. It is 100% doable. Im proof of it.
      I can NOT play a bard, like you, it was too boring. I like being the one at risk haha. Try farming level 2 dungeons near red moongates for now.
      Aim to get your weapon codex ( Macing/Swords/Fencing/Wrestling ) and get your aspect after. You can DM me on discord with any questions you have and Id be happy to help out! Search me on the Outlands discord as A Straw Hat.

      This build allows for more flexibility at 100 chiv. With 120 chiv Id have to drop some skills and lose my codex requirements.

    Ive been told that i should aim for 106 accuracy for my dexxer, I assume that is because of debuffs lowering your accuracy and having 106% still allows you to hit 100% of the time.
    My question is what weapon do i base that off ? for instance if im using a supreamly accurate weapon i dont need much accuracy links. but most of the time i will be using a crafted weapon so should i keep adding accuracy links until i cap accuracy on a mid tier crafted weapon ?

    • @A-Straw-Hat
      @A-Straw-Hat  9 месяцев назад +1

      You can check your stats in game. Options - player stats or [stats - aim for 106% with whatever gear/links you are running :)

      Dont stress it! Those links become very easy to acquire, the bronze atleast. Focus on grinding up your aspect and codex levels then worry about the chain. Aspect and codex first! Those are your strongest modifiers.

    • @A-Straw-Hat
      @A-Straw-Hat  Год назад +1

      Hey Anthony. Weapon types are somewhat equalized based on swing speed. So, two handed mace, best dps is any staff. QStaff, SCrook, GStaff, or BStaff.

      Thats a fine build. If you want to take it to the next level I would incorporate chivalry over camping assuming you want to keep some PvP capability. If you dont care for PvP capability drop magic resist for chivalry. I personally like my character capable of smashing the hardest PvM and PvP content at the same time.

      Hi Bubbles!
      Afaik - Outlands due to the customer design of the PvM progression system that is unique to Outlands only.

    Honestly this shit ruined the game. It's the same thing that happened with old UO, they took a perfect game that was skill based and not item based, you didnt need to grind to be rich to play you just needed to grind your template and have skill. Then they made it item based and added in a zillion new skills that ruined everything. Outlands has done the same thing. Everyone running around is a tamer with millions of dollars in shit. Game ruined, thats my rant.

    • @A-Straw-Hat
      @A-Straw-Hat  Год назад

      I'm sorry you feel that way. Our experiences don't line up. The game is still skill based. Which items are you talking about? ( I don't have a tamer or bard - I am a pure old school smack/punch/stab/whack and kill dexxer ).
      Dexxers, Mages, Bards, Tamers, and Crafter/Gatherer templates are all top of the line in PvM.
      PvP is balanced in that aspect has no effect on it.
      The only items that exist, in regards to active gameplay, are Magic items like your standard Vanquishing Weapons / Invul armor and crafted items like your Valorite Weapons / Valorite Armor.
      Do you mind explaining what you mean as I honestly do not follow. I think you are under a lot of false impressions.
      Perhaps you mean the Mastery Chain? That is a veteran reward style item that allows you add additional passive bonuses ( like jewelry used to ) as you farm/grind PvM.
      But the above being said lines up with what you want UO to be, right? Grind it out, grind out your skills, use magic items/crafted items and get at it! Thats exactly what this is.

      @@A-Straw-Hat The thing I always loved about ultima was that you could run around in garbage and still be competitive, it was about your build being complete You did not need to be rich and in doing so you could gain excitement and win back basic provisions to carry forward . While this is still the case with outlands to a large extent in pvp, doing so in a dungeon equals instant death. interacting with and getting into shit with other players in dungeons is where it's at but as the poor person i am with zero willingness to invest a million hours into crafting and farming to work up the gold to not instantly die in dungeons Im effectively priced out of the game. I just died 3 times in a row in this way earlier today, each time dead before even having a chance to heal, kite, or whatever. furthermore many of the classic templates are useless here, ie nox fencer, stealth, etc. its just not fun to play when you dont stand a chance and dont have the time to get rich. In dungeons everyone is almost exclusively a tamer or highly decked out.

    • @A-Straw-Hat
      @A-Straw-Hat  Год назад

      @@leehilborn8118 Okay, I still think there is a misconception here. There are overworld farms where you don't need anything but basic skills off the training island. Did you cap your skills out before leaving shelter by using the shelter dungeon?
      I dont understand what you mean by gear, or rich in terms of player strength.
      There are a few ways to increase player PvM power here.
      Stats - Str/Dex/Int
      Skills - 720 Cap
      Aspect - An activated suit ( cheap to get )
      Mastery Chain - Progressive small passive bonus's as you farm more
      You cant expect to go into the bottom of a dungeon and compete with mobs that were tuned for higher level play as a dexxer. Dexxers are stat sticks. You need more aspect, which means kill more...It has nothing to do with expensive gear. Just time played.
      A necro mage could solo any content in the game here within 3 days of starting. Do you want to learn how to do that?
      I would suggest making a lumberjack and farming 5K boards, sell those 5k boards for 60k, buy yourself some starting items to get moving.
      If you want a basic server where anyone can log in and compete at the highest levels of PvM in a day, this is probably not for you and would lead to this servers downfall.
      Outlands owes its success to the dev team who developed such a long living PvM system.
      All you need to invest is some time...

    • @leehilborn8118
      @leehilborn8118 Год назад

      @@A-Straw-Hat i have a hally mage, a nox fencer and stealth alchy dexxer (all finished characters (at 700, 720 is pricey) My whole point was that the classic fun of UO was that you dont need to farm up special gear, I get that for higher level pvm stuff you're going to need some devotion to that, its more the going to dungeons for like a mixed experience, pvp being the real reason, a finished character without money dies instantly, with zero chance of even survival, which makes everything else impossible. Also finding the nox fencer and stealth to be useless. The work the devs put in is amazing to be sure, not knocking that. Just the necessity for time investment outside of building your characters is so far removed from what i remember and love about this game

    • @A-Straw-Hat
      @A-Straw-Hat  Год назад

      @@leehilborn8118 I see. Well, I think what you describe is why Outlands is successful.
      I still disagree with some points but overall I think I get where you are coming from now.
      Unfortunately, the reality is people would move on from this server and it would die if it was what you are looking for. People have been playing UO for a long time and the original game does not retain a player base for more than a year or 2.
      Even the most dedicated *original* style servers either cave and add more content/development or siphon their player base out.
      The other thing that is interesting is that your opinion on tamers is what the majority play at a high level on Outlands, which is not the case. It is Mage or Mage Necro as the most popular and strongest templates.
      I have played on other custom UO servers and, if we are being honest, the only viable build to handle the majority of end game content was a tamer or bard. I did not enjoy that at all. Try fighting a balron as pure dexxer. Not happening haha.
      I do hope you find what you are looking for. Good luck sir.
