  • In this video we capture the famous 60103 Flying Scotsman on the outward leg of The Waverley from York to Carlisle.
After a two year absence on the channel we decided it was only fitting to go and film this fine locomotive again and she sure was fantastic!
We start the video at Barkston Ash, near Church Fenton where Flying Scotsman is seen powering after a stop to let a TransPennine Express service train heading for Manchester Piccadilly sounding superb as she galloped her way through the countryside with her distinctive three cylinder beat.
The next location would be the beautiful Bank Newton where the A3 Pacific is seen crossing over the stunning bridge before crossing over the Leeds & Liverpool Canal unfortunately the sun had disappeared minutes before the tour passed through but looked stunning nonetheless.
Our third and final location is the famous Ribblehead Viaduct, it would be rude not to capture the worlds most famous steam locomotive over one of the most famous railway viaducts in the world! And she certainly didn't disappoint as she powered up the 1 in 100 climb up to Blea Moor with a fantastic long whistle over the viaduct. Unfortunately just like the previous location the sun had decided not to play ball again but it certainly didn't spoil anything as the crew on Scotsman put on a fantastic show!
After this shot, it was decided to go home back to the north midlands as we decided to not wait 7 hours for the next and only shot on the return leg with very little to do in the waiting time and bad weather arriving.
Overall a great morning/afternoon trip out to see the worlds most famous steam locomotive and I look forward to seeing Flying Scotsman again in the future!
