Finally captured the Flying Scotsman. Been trying to record this for 3 years now and thanks to a tip off on Facebook when I was on holiday from work I got the chance. Really windy and lots of other drones around. The Flying Scotsman marks Carlisle-to-Settle line reopening today.

What can one say? This is just priceless!!!!
Thank you
Stunningly beautiful and oh so professional! Thank you so much . . . . spine tingling stuff! 👍😎😁
I just had to come back and watch this classic again. Perfect.Thank you again.
... and again tonight. Thanks again Steve. (23rd December 2020)
2 masterpieces meet again.
Yeah it was amazing.
The world's most famous steam locomotive on the world's most famous stretch of railway. Superb!
wonderful thank you very much
Spine-tingling - Victorian engineering at its finest, and maybe GB's finest era too!
Spine tingling indeed. I agree.
Amazing video from NZ
Absolutely amazing footage and great sound as well - brilliant - well done and what a 'drone' WOW is all I can add.
Grahame .White thanks grahame. Glad you liked it. Was really windy but managed to get the shot
I've only this August made the journey from York to Carlisle on the Flying Scotsman with my Wife , your video brings back the very special day memories that is dear to my heart ,I've been on the FS twice and each time was different, thank you .Graham Ball.✅
Great video. Only a drone could capture this perspective. Terrific definition. The viaduct is a massive structure and can only be appreciated when standing beside it and looking up. Had no idea it was so high. Bonus watching the "Scotsman". Keep up the good work.
Richard Berry thanks for that Richard. I really enjoyed recording this.
Wonderful catch!
Cheers buddy. Catch you on TNL later maybe.
I just LOVE that 3-cylinder beat. Brings tears to my eyes...
Glad you liked it Nigel....don't forget to subscribe then you wont miss any of my new videos and click on the bell icon to get notified when I upload...Thanks
I like great footage keep it up👌
Fantastic sight..
TERRY. W cheers terry
Great video!
You caught that beautifully, well done...
Cecil B DeMille made films that weren't as epic as this.
Sensational footage.
Lol it was a bit over the top but I've been trying to catch it going over the viaduct for years.
@@skycamvideo well I went over on 30 August 2014 behind 46233, brilliant, would have been brillianter if it had been an A4.
See a new word you just learnt brillianter.
I couldn't resist it.
Anyway I loved the footage.
Sensational
Stephen Barnes thanks mate. glad you liked it
I read somewhere that the late Alan Pegler, sometime owner of '4472', had his ashes thrown into the firebox as the engine crossed Ribblehead Viaduct, in accordance with his last wishes...
Can't blame him. What a way to go. Thanks for that Nigel
Brilliant!
Our railway lines are going to look awful though when everything is electrified - a real eyesore!
Wow. Masterful. Well done!
ALL TIME AMAZING VIDEO THANK YOU.. GREAT WORK TO GET THANK YOU FOR SHARE..
Pity it was such bad weather but I tried to make the best of it. Thanks
It looks rather like a nicely made Hornby Dublo train set layout Steve. You caught the sound excellently.
Derek Wood hi Derek. yeah good sound on this one. was almost too windy to fly.
You did well Steve.
That tracking shot following the train across the viaduct is soooo perfect. A master drone pilot and great videographer at work! Railway nostalgia at its best - very moving. The heroic Hans Zimmer-esque score adds nicely to the mood too. Hope to be travelling this line in the summer, but sadly with only an ordinary movie cam, not a drone. Lovely work - well done!
magicknuns wow great praise thanks. it was windy so was a bit harder than usual. been planned before flight. thanks again and glad you liked the video
I agree, lovely shots. But why must there be any music at all? Why must we always be told what to think/feel by a chain-jerking sound-track......? Why not just let the beautiful engine speak for herself?
Just superb!
sandtoftfield thanks. glad you liked it.
superb well done.
fantastic mate, when I was there the weather was pretty poor, loved this video thanks for sharing 👍
I managed the same thing this afternoon up at Ribblehead Viaduct. It was hellish windy, but I hadn't travelled all that way not to launch.
Want to go up tomorrow - can you tell me what time it went over please? Think it was about 1pm when I was on board last month, but can't remember exactly!
Found itinerary from last month - for benefit of others wanting to see, passes over the viaduct heading north between approx 12.45-12.50pm most summer Sundays, and return pass heading south is approx 6pm. Saw it today, magnificent! Good to meet Brian & Kevin too!
A superb video, we are planning a trip later this year me with my Phantom 3 and Russell from sky view yorkshire with his S900, but are concerned about the amount of people always about, thinking maybe a Saturday evening would be best, thanks for a great video
Julian Humphrey I was worried about that but if you go down near the bottom of the bridge it's quiet. lots up on the road etc but nobody low down. 3 people on south side of bridge that day. all of us flying. I've seen videos of early passing and was plastered with people then. good luck
The local sheep get freaked out by the steam engine at 2:00.
Perfect shot, did you coordinate with other pilots so you didn't get in each others way? sounds hectic!
jamesb72 yes. well I did with Craig that was flying with me. no idea where the second one came from.
@@skycamvideo is there a station just near the viaduct and what's the nearest main road please
I take it that was the return trip, we were there for the morning pass, with drone and DSLR, multitasking at its best lol. Just a quick question on the editing side, does it take a lot to straighten out the horizons on the video, i am flying a PH2 but the horizons are terrible. Also does your drone have the microphone as well, brill how you get the sound. :) Nice flying, the wind was just a tad breezy :)
Tony Pickard no the sound is added in edit. the work of the horizon is done with the gimbal. no stabilising at all. a Mike would only pick up the motors anyway. lol
Ah yes of course, nice. I get the gimbal steadies the video but with mine afterwards the horizon on playback seems to curve quite a lot. Maybe its just the camera on the pH2
Definitely the return trip, train is going south - you can see the farm, road and parked cars coming *after* the viaduct.
Fantastic!! I am currently editing our recent ride in Cumbria and Yorkshire and would like to use your photo of The Flying Scotsman going over the viaduct, please. I will add the link to your video in the description field of the video. I don't monetise my videos, preferring to archive our many motorcycle rides. Please could you let me know about the photo as soon as possible so I can publish my video. Thank you and thanks for sharing.
Biker Paul where would this be used ? shown etc ?
On my RUclips channel....Worldwide.
Biker Paul ok why not. just leave my logo on. thanks
sky cam video. Thank you so much. I'd love to get into using a drone, but I will have to leave that until I cannot ride anymore. This is why I do vlogs. Take care. Paul.
Biker Paul did you ever do that video ? if so let's have a link please. Ta
I see there was a few other drones on your vid ha !
Yes Andrew..lots about that day
is this easy to get to
Andy Hall yes. It's on Google maps. Park on road and short walk down to viaduct.

Andy Hall yes and yes
Lovely video! I was there with my drone a couple of weeks ago (ruclips.net/video/7ZW5m6SgfUo/видео.html) Alas... there were no trains coming over! Keep up the good work.
