Today we're replacing the hydroboost on my LLY duramax with the hydroboost for a 2011 LML duramax. It was a direct bolt on and no modifications were necessary. LML booster does provide more pressure and firming braking

You should think about adding a PS cooler from the 8.1, keeps the PS fluid clear and cool, and should extend the life of this hydroboost as well. Great vid.
In a pinch if you ever lose brakes again you can use the emergency brake, just hold the release while you depress the pedal. Obviously not as good as the service brakes but can get you home. Also a whole lot better than slamming your transmission into park while moving
I hope I’ll never have to run into that problem ever 😭 Luckily the LML has exhaust brake which helped a lot

We upgraded our old grain truck from vacuum brakes to hydraulic every thing went good except know the brake pedal is hard as Stone and very little brakes it's a Ac Delco brand new not remanufactured
Wow man i have to replace my lines and Hydro Boost and i have just been waiting to go back to work to do it but with this video you make it look so easy i have never done one of the hydro boost systems thank you for this video mine is on a 2011 Silverado 2500hd

Might want to check your abs under the cab. On my lly, I replaced literally everything. Then it was the ABS module, and or pump.
It feel better now. I still may bleed the abs

I got this upgrade for my truck but the mechanic told me that I couldn’t use it unless I put it into neutral and start the truck and then put into gear. Idk what the problem would be. Anyone else have the same issues. It’s an LLY 05 duramax and the hydro boost was a acdelco from a 2011 gmc duramax

Is this an "upgrade" on a 2006 lbz as well, do you know?
Another question, at a stop or slow moving my steering will kinda lock-up/not want to move. Have you or someone you know have that problem and know if sometimes it's the hydroboost system being the culprit?

Did you have to remove and replace the pushrod from old hydra boost into the new hydraboost or does the new GM one come with the pushrod ready and installed
Could a bad brake booster cause your rpm needle to surge and vibrate when letting off the brake?? Dealership said the reason my truck is doing that it is due to a bad booster
According to the O'Reilly Auto the vehicle compatibility chart the 2011 LML Hydroboost is a one off part for the Chevy and GMC trucks for that single year.

With slight modification of the booster push rod, this hyrdoboost can be used on 2001-2010 trucks to aide in curing the notorious low spongy pedal feel.
Anyone ever have issues after installing this? Right now it feels like the braking it worse then my old one. I literally have to push the breaks all the way down to the floor for the breaks to kick in. And also it now won’t shift out of park unless I turn the key once and then put it into drive. :( same part number same engine LLY. Idk if it’s just a faulty part or the mechanic I sent it into to do all this just messed it up somehow.

178-0853 is the original LML dually crew cab hydrobooster. What is the difference between this revised PN 19371361 and the original 178-0853?
So I have done the hydro upgrade on my LBZ but I have been noting overheating brakes all four. I have flushed the power steering fluid as well and no change. I tried to install a washer between the hydro and master and the over heating goes away. Any ideas?
I have a 85 gmc c7000 the hydro boost is not available anywhere I’m looking at putting a new one on don’t know where to start are they all the same?
Would you recommend also replacing the master cylinder? Mine is an LLY with the original master cylinder. If so, master cylinder made for 2005, or for 2011 ?
No, you don't need to. You changed nothing with the brake system, only the brake assist.

Should’ve covered your fender. Getting brake fluid on your paint could ruin it and start chipping.

Does this work on a 2007.5 Duramax (LMM) with the vacuum brake booster? All I see are trucks without the vacuum booster.
Yes, it will work. And all diesel trucks have to use hydroboost because they do not create vaccum like a gass engine does.

I literally just did it in my 05 lly and upgraded to the 2011 ...same thing... but for some reason while applying the brakes my power steering is still hard to turn..other than that everything else is working.. amazing brakes and amazing power steering while im not applying the brakes...why????

Maybe you have air or your pump is weak, check out the PSC pump.
Pump doesn’t have enough psi to pressure steering and brakes at the same time

@James B Did you ever figure out what was causing your brakes to drag after upgrading to the LMM hydroboost?
@@jamisondonato5766 yes. I had contaminated my master doing a bench bleed with power steering fluid. Shortly after I realized I flushed with brake fluid and installed. Once contaminated you gotta replace. The next thing was that the new hydroboost pin is slightly longer than the original. You cannot adjust the length of the pin and I wasn’t about to take it apart. I put in a #10 washer on each peg between the master and the hydroboost and that fixed my problem.
@@jamesb3654 awesome. Thanks for the update. I'm about to do this upgrade on my 04 K2500 Burb. It's the same part numbers and I've got an 06 lbz in it. I'll post up my results after this weekend.
@@jamisondonato5766 ohhh that is sweet! I have a 04 burb 1500. I’d love to do a duraburb conversion some point. Do post update! I can tell you it’s a major upgrade for braking. I feel more confident in stoping with my load now as sometimes before it was a bit questionable and I was like crap… this is it… this idiot is gonna get ate up for pulling out in front of me.
That brake pedal clip and those bolts will be your most difficult part. You can put the master up to the new hydroboost and see if you feel the pin hit the master when it is butted up together. I also drilled the pedal rod out to 17mm but I heard someone use the standard drill bit and it worked as well. Just have to measure that part and see! Good luck!
@@jamesb3654 Sorry for the delay, but I got the new 2011 hydroboost in there and it feels awesome. took me some time to get the air bled out of the PS steering system as I changed out my lines and the steering box as well. But holy cow, that feels really good. Towing a 9k TT last week, had 3 deer jump out in front of us and the truck and trailer was so confident in stopping abruptly and felt great! seriously recommended upgrade. My only complaint was trying to maneuver my fat hands under the dash.. Normally its fine, but this truck has the adjustable pedals and I was cursing them the entire time. Other than that, good to go. thx.
