  • Gothic novels possess an everlasting quality that both troubles and fuels the realms of art, film, and fashion. Whether we're delving into the narrative of Frankenstein or immersing ourselves in the iconic world of Bram Stoker's Dracula, the act of reimagining these characters, with elements of romance, darkness, and instant recognition, serves as a method to confront and expel our fears.
    It becomes a way to reflect the murky, tumultuous blend of pain and hope that resides within the core of every human being.
    Today we'll explore the deep connection between avant-garde fashion and horror films, highlighting their unbreakable link.
    Enjoy xxx

      @@inkarlcerating i was so stunned by this video!! it was my first introduction to avant garde fashion and im in love with the concepts. i think this was also wonderfully researched, and all the examples you gave seemed off the top of your head, like you're just so knowledgeable.
      my favorites were rei kawakubo's 'monster', and the wicker man inspired works by craig green. seeing fashion that made me viscerally uncomfortable honestly felt refreshing and.. exciting
      this connection between horror and fashion is absolutely genius, and i'm so glad you documented it. i also liked how you brought costume design into the discussion as well. all the genres seemed to meld together seamlessly but also super cohesively.

    This was a spectacular production.
    Suppose there was a play or movie that was an emerging subgenre of gothic fiction.
    What would be the approach for fashion shows, if your idea of the vampire is evolutionary off shoot of vampires that split off from homo sapiens, and blend in with normal society? Often work in jobs other people refuse, so to access to the dead or dying.
    Elfen Lied, while not exactly this, poses that question in my mind. Increasingly Im wondering if that show would have as much of an emotional effect without a fashion design team.

    • @inkarlcerating
      @inkarlcerating  8 месяцев назад

      That would be an exciting concept. I think so far, Alexander Mcqueen’s fashion shows will always be unparalleled! I wished that avant garde fashion label and houses would take time in storytelling and not just parading clothes.
      I will def have to do my homework first and come back to u haha
      btw I watched Elfen Lied bec of you! im on episode 3 now
