This dude was straight up no bs to the point without hesitating and not even trying to promote anything even. This channel deserves subscribes.
I agree. Gave him the like and follow even though I was only using this video as a reference to explain to someone what these signs look like.
Wtf are you talking about!? This is just promoting his business and half the shit is wrong!!!
Thankfully I came across this video. I though smoke coming from my PC was a feature. 😋
😧
Lmao
😂😂😂
lmao wtf
Nah, bro ur smps just chilling 😎
I would never have known that my smoking PSU,which caused my case to give me electric shocks and trip my breaker board, was failing if I hadnt found this video. You've done me a service sir.
#11. If your house is on fire, this could be a sign of a failing power supply.
To be fair this could be a sign of a lot of things though

@@VelocityMicroPCcan it cause bsod bcoz I tested the ram it's fine so Im thinking psu problem bcoz my pc freezes when I playing games
Thanks! This is helpful in narrowing down my issue.
simple and top the point! Thank you, thumbs up.
Some seem obvious, but others are certainly not so obvious...
Never imagined smoke coming out of my PC could be a bad thing, though my PSU was just vaping
I just experienced half of these symptoms all at once... including #10 over the long term in the form of 'power events' being tripped on my power backup unit (seems relevant in hindsight?). Thanks for the handy list on the webpage as a sanity check! Will get it checked out tomorrow.
Good luck!

If your PC and your entire apartment is on fire and the fire brigade is trying to knock down your door to put the fire out, you might have a PSU failure.
Exactly
@Velocity Micro i had some of those issues BUT it got fixed after i changed the battery on the motherboard...it stops failing for 2-3 weeks and then i need to change to a new battery again..could it still be my PSU?
Thank you for the video, I was having many of these problems.
quick, to the point, and simple, thanks guy
Built my first pc few months ago. Getting the blue screen error msg every 4 hrs or so. Im thinking “spontaneous reboot” but tbh i have no clue. Is there a way to fix this? I dont think it’s got anything to do with my gpu. As I’m normally just browsing on the internet when this occurs. It would be greatly appreciated if you have any tips or ideas that I can give a try that would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
I just upgraded my pc with the new motherboard, new ram and a new CPU and a new cool for the cpu. Everything is plugged in and when I flip the switch of the power supply, I see no light on my motherboard. When I try to turn it on, it doesn’t turn on. Does this indicate my power supply died Or could there be other problems?
hi, if my psu works with clip test but I am getting random shut down. Sometimes when I turn my pc on, only cpu fan spins and ram rgb lits up then it will go off
is ths faulty?
My PC Started to do Spontaneous Reboots, and The Montors occasionaly turns off and On Again. When I Boot and when I game my Fans sound like an F1 Race Car.
I deep cleaned my PC and even changed the thermal pastes.
But the problem is still there
Do i need to replace my PSU?
Hey yall thank you for this video, so with my pc I start it but I get no display the first start up. BUT when I turn it off then turn it on again it boots up like normal. Before what my Pc was doing before this was when I started it up it immediately turned off then a few seconds later like 5 sec it would boot up normally? Ive made sure all cables are plugged in, Ive also reseated everything. Would this be a psu problem at this point?
I added a gpu yesterday … it was t showing up so I pressed on the riser iwhile it was running.. i somehow made a shortcut I think… the pc went off and now doest turn back on.. no ram lights no cpu fan no signal just rgb lights on the back light up… u think this could be the psu too ?? Or more likely the mb?
My keyboard switches and mouse behaves randomly and stop working as well..is it because of psu problem?
i believe to be experiencing #3, i stress test my pc alot and it acts fine but randomly on some days it just freezes where i cant interact with anything and i can only move my mouse cursor, if i dont manually reset my pc it will eventually do it for me
If im playing games my pc is not freezing but when im watching some random youtube videos it will freeze immediately and i dont know why is this power supply?
my pc shuts down unexpectedly when playing high intensive games for an hour but doesnt reboot, I have to manually turn it back on, no other symptoms on the video. I have a rtx 2060 and ryzen 7 5800x, and my psu is rated 650 watts and 80+ gold. Is my psu at fault here or is it something else? Things I have already checked off the list as not being a problem is memory, temps, and drivers.
The clicking noise is not that frequent and happens only when Im gaming. Its one tick/click per 5-10 minutes and I heard this might be a failing component. I recently overclocked my gpu too much. I did a factory reset and the gpu is working fine ig (but it makes lag spikes in games after some time so I need to give it a break. This might be an overheating problem.). After the factory reset I started hearing a clicking noise once 5-10min from the pc and I cant locate the source. Can someone pls help me

Thanks for this video, the first two problems seem to keep happening to me ordered a new PSU today hopefully this solves the issues, had my PSU for 3 years and it started doing this a few months ago didn't think it would be the problem. So my screen flickers from time to time after I recently changed my GPU and my PSU and I have to constantly replug the hdmi cable. Also, when I try running heavier games like Cyberpunk, my screen will suddenly say 'no input' and the only thing I could do is restart my PC. Does anyone know what's wrong with my PC?
My pc turns on but the keyboard won’t turn on and the and the monitor says no signal idk what is going on
Ever since the most recent update with windows 10 my PC crapped out on me frying both of my SSD drives and corrupting them.
I tried the SSD drives in this laptop my buddy gave me and they did not work. I tried the old archaic hard drive from the laptop in my PC
Got fried then my PC went into spontaneous reboot. But when I took that hard drive out and put back in both of my SSD drives it was loading normally at start up then gave a error saying I need to have a internal drive with windows. Give or take this PC is 10 years old my brother hand built it 10 years ago then I bought it off of him two years ago and it was working perfectly fine up until the moment I went to update it then it had crashed and both of my ssd's are now fried.
Should I just get a whole new PC instead of frying new hardware trying to locate the problem ?
I'm using a laptop, I started having spontaneous restarts when I removed my battery. Any way to fix this?
Bought a new pc and my power supply has been having this coil whine since i got it, now my pc usually reboots or shuts down by itslef once or twice when i first start it up within the first couple minutes. Also every once in a while my pc will just stutter, video and sound just stutters really bad for about 5 seconds. This video is helpful thanks
i have been experiencing the same stutters, did changing your psu solved these problems?
how exactly to ensure that filcking on mointor is a psu failure ??

Hi, my mouse and keyboard sometime keep connecting and reconnecting it happen when I plug both mouse and keyboard but if I plug only keyboard i won't happen at all. is it my psu failure? or my mouse just broke down if so, how does a broken mouse cause other usb port error too?

I have a noise sound from my psu (bzzzz), is that mean that my power supply is failure and I have to change it ?
My corsair 450w turns on automatically when i switch on the psu switch, i didn't even need to jumper it. But runs normally its just it automatically turns my pc on too. Is my psu dying?
Appreciate it, in my case my computer had a surge from lightning and wouldn't boot up after I turned it off, no lights at all except my USB/3.5mm speakers, so I assume the PSU got nuked since all the other parts still work.
Hey guys please help my i don't know what wrong in my pc if i turn on after a minute it freeze and sometime it will reboot, but if i remove the graphics card it will ok again, whats the problem? My PSU because cant supply the enough power? Or my graphics card? But my graphics card is brand new 3months old RX580 a budget one so it means the psu are the problem?
My power station is tripping off as soon as I connect the graphics card to it through the 6pin pcie connector.
What could be the problem?
Hi, hope you can help. My newly built pc works fine until I try to play a game, keeps crashing!. When I try my Rx 550 that doesn’t need power from psu games work fine, but when I try my rx 580 that connects to the psu every games crash. Could it be the psu?
Could be a problem with the RX 580
sometimes when I turn on the computer, the power supply fan spins very loudly and only the keyboard and mouse lights come on and I have to turn it off and on several times to start normally, after that I don't have any more problems, everything works normally
the power supply fan spins slowly and the computer no longer has any problems (I have this problem for several days)
😌 Thanks you so much for this Vid. I'm tired 😩 of findings something wrong to my pc, suddenly i watch your video and now realized the problem of my POTATO PC 😊👌 3 symptoms that i got!😢
simple and to the point
my pc is restarting after 10-15 mins of gaming and another problem the screen goes black for 1 sec then come back to normal, so i hope that is the psu and not other component cuz i'm gonna buy a new one
What if you have a 3 monitor setup, all screens connected to one GPU and you have these symptoms randomly, not very often, accruing:
- when pc is started from turned off state (cold) the GPU fans will go off like turbines, no picture appears on the screens and the pc doesn’t Boot at all. The pc will stay in this state until power is disconnected and will eventually come back to life after several boot try’s.
- when the gpu gets load, in my case typically when showing the 3d printers movement in the slicer software, the screens will go black. I can then still connect to my pc sometimes using TeamViewer as the pc is still working, but without picture output on the screens. To then shutdown and restart the system correctly. In 80% of the time this works. If not, I have to force shut down the system by the power switch or power cable unfortunately
- my ram is ok, all the other hardware works just fine when the pc is working. But sometimes, it behaves like described. Faulty capacitors in my PSU?
The system is 11 years old now (i7, 16GB Ram, SSD raid) and is still ok for me - but maybe 11 years is to much for some components.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance and happy New Year’s 🎆
Same symptoms bro I send my gpu to a repair shop and the issue above is still there
Oh my god!! This is probably what’s wrong with my pc! Thanks!
Glad to help!
Hi my pc turns on fine but after 5 or 15 mins it turns off, but does not reboot
while playing, the screen will black out, no power to mouse and keyboard but the system unit is still running, fan is still running.
also tried to reseat ram and cmos batt. Can this be a symptom of PSU failure?
have you checked your monitor?
I’m trying to identify where my issue is coming from. My display will crash but I can still hear audio. The last time it happened, the other components like the fans turned off as well. It was like the PC was off but I could still hear audio. It’s not the gpu because I’ve swapped to my old one already. I’m almost finished the ram test and it says no problems yet. I’m just thinking it’s between mobo and psu but does this sound like it could be a psu issue? The psu fan is working.
Sounds like motherboard, but could be either
@@VelocityMicroPC Thanks for reply. I’m scared to say “I’ve fixed it” but I removed 2 sticks of RAM (had 4 in there) about 4 days ago and not had any problems since. I’m just surprised a bit because I’d been running 4 sticks since December. Didn’t realise unstable RAM could cause so much havoc.
Love to know where you get your information. I'm a PC tech of 18 years and I can tell you - there are other indicators of a paing PSU and you didnt mention even one. smoke? Sheesh!
i have 3 problems of these came in order .. now it restart while gaming or programing . thx for this vid
That explains why I got one shocked from the wires of the PSU and one shock from touching the psu
I had a blue screen saying critical process died and now it won't turn on. Do u know what the issue might be
if it wont turn on its hdd/ssd corruption due to system files breaking which can also cause power issues. If it posts and fans spin, reinstall windows.
I had a blue screen also, which didn't give me enough time to read it before the power cut. Didn't turn back on, but the fan won't even spin now... it tries for a half second and fails continuously, looping attempts to boot/reboot. Guessing it's going to be the PSU in my case.
My PC shuts off if my Power Supply cord is touched lightly.
Since my PSU is connected to my Harddrive for the Operating System, can this be a reason why my Harddrive may have Corrupted Files?
Yes probably is why you have corrupted files. Have been experiencing the same issues as you.
Im having a issue when i turn on my pc my fans are working fine but there no display only black screen. Before i got this problem while im using my pc it suddently turns off the display ( fans still spinning ) after that it will shutdown do you think its the psu? Please help
Could also be the graphics card
@@VelocityMicroPC have the same problem but my second gpu still didn’t work.
i’m still tryna confirm if my psu is failing, i’ve had several blackouts throughout the months due to the heat where i’m at, my pc is a power hog and a high end one too, i stress test my pc/ benchmarks etc to see if i can replicate my pc randomly turning off on the start screen, what i found out is my psu cable wasnt plugged all the way in but at the same time i’m doubting that’s as entirely it.

hi there! what if my MOBO Leds turn on but pc doesnt start when i press power button? I tried also to make a jump on the mobo power pins with screwdriver but nothing. could it still be a PSU problem? thank you!

My pc has been having a problem thats kinda weird where it turns off randomly even if I'm not doing anything like just watching a movie and then when i try turning it back on it will turn on but the screen, keyboard and mouse won't turn on but when i give it a sec it eventually does turn on but now it completely wont turn on and will take longer when i turn it off from the power then turn it on it will work but sometimes doesn't i jist don't know if it's the power or the gpu because now it turns on but screen keeps flickering
Can be alot of issues. But if you can run some games without artefacts and temperatures are normal i guess psu

i have random black screens that brick my pc only during certain games, only thing that works are fans and LED's the only way i can restart it is unplugging it from the wall any ideas? could that be a PSU thing?
If it happens during gaming, it may be a graphics card failure of some type.
I would get these stutters and spontaneous reboots for a while now and just yesterday my gpu failed to start and so did my cpu fan. The motherboard stopped giving me a light indication as well. I’m fairly positive its my psu but I just got this psu from an RMA not even a year ago…

1: when I power it up, pc fans turns slow and gpu won't turn on.
2: when I power it up, with gpu disconnected, the pc fans turns normal, as they should..
Any ideas what could be the problem?
prob gpu failure??

If your pc instantly turns off followed by a burning smell in the vicinity of your psu...your psu just died? Cuz thats what mine did last night. Its 8 yrs old at this point and got alotta use. Theres a fire, should i be worried, and is warranty voided?
Now if my psu is broken from the first thing u said are the rest of my parts fine?
Psu can fry or damage other components its best to double check and get it checked from professional
My PC restarts especially during gaming. However, it also randomly gets stuck at some point and restarts. It even gets stuck often during reboot, restart or shut down and then restarts itself. It's a brand new custom PC. I bought it a week ago and I'm facing these issues even from day 1.
Could it be because of a faulty PSU? Please help.
PSU is possible, but it sounds like something else is going on.
@@VelocityMicroPC Hi.
I replaced the PSU but I'm still facing the same problem. The PC store's engineer from where I bought the PC says there's something wrong with the power supply of my house because my PC ran without any issue at the store. I thought it was because the AC was turned on at the store while not at my home which led me to replace the PSU with higher operating temperature of 50°C but still no hope. ☹️ Can you guess the problem? Please help.
Here are my system configuration:
1. GPU : Sapphire Nitro Plus AMD RX 7800XT
2. CPU : Ryzen 5 7600X
3. RAM : XPG DDR5 16 GB @4800 Mhz
4. Motherboard : MSI B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI
5. PSU : Cooler Master MWE 750 WATT GOLD V2
6. SSD : WD Blue SN580, 1 TB
You may be experiencing some thermal issues. Recommend installing a CPU temp monitoring application if you haven't already.
@@VelocityMicroPC The temperatures of CPU and GPU are pretty fine I think that even during heavy gaming CPU reaches 76°C and GPU 67°C.
I just had my PC shut off today but the ran was still lit up. Then I ordered even down and unplugged it. Plugged it back on and nothing. No light on the MOBO, no RGB ram, no fans spinning nothing. I'm hoping only my PSU went and that it didn't take anything else with it in the process.
So what was it bc it happened to me asw
What kind of symptom would it be if the display and gpu turn off while gaming but every other hardware keeps running. Can it be the psu or the gpu?
Sounds like GPU failure to me
@@VelocityMicroPC Could a failure on the GPU also give me a Red CPU light on the motherboard? The crashes can be so random at times. Yesterday I was able to game on it for 6 hours without problems. I always check the temps and the gpu tends to hit 80c and the CPU at 65c when playing baldur's gate 3 .
It's possible. The red CPU light would indicate the CPU has detected a failure of some type. If a bad GPU is the cause of the CPU error, it could show as a CPU issue. But honestly, either one could be the source of the problem.
Everything seems fine but mines making a clicking sound which never happened before. Its more annoying then anything at the moment.
Ok so my pc turns on everything inside lights up and is running but the red light is on and it doesn't give power to anything connected to it like keyboard or the essentials. Is that a dead psu?
I have the same problem and i am out of warranty period. Did you find a fix? I'm not sure if it's my mobo or psu. Please let me if you found out what caused it
@@rajeshkrish2625 im pretty sure its my cpu
If I get shocked whenever I touch my PC case, I might have a psu problem ? Is this legit? No grounding is needed ?
I built my pc all new I’m having shock problem for 7 month now and no this ain’t problem let me explain so the psu touches parts of ur pc that can transfer electric so I’m sure it’s very normal
how about rapid clicking then power up. it was doing that. So then last night i shut it off and turned off the PSU directly and completely. Today i flipped the switch hit the power button, and nothing happened. i took several attempts. couple clicks and nothing. the last time it clicked a bunch of times and finally turned on. it was like trying to start a car that ran out of gas.
Few days ago I decided to clean my PC, so I used a blower (I turned off the power and I also didn't touch any equipment, I didn't unplug any wire from GPU, CPU, mainboard etc...) after I finished with the cleaning I came to turn my PC on but it went off right after I turned it on... so I decided to test few things, like I detached the RAMs and changed their places and I also switched the power outlet (instead of using multi outlet I connected PC straight to the outlet) so the thing happened was that PC stayed on for a longer time (few more seconds) but it still went off and turned on again by itself... it's more like a restart loop... rn I connected the monitor but I don't have a screen at all not even mainboard logo and literally black screen...
I just built my PC no Humming or fan movement from the PSU at all, no power to anything, did I just get a bad unit?
It's possible. Does the PSU have a manual power switch? Make sure that's on (|)
I'm having a weird problem with a pc I built a year ago, so basically I use it normally and randomly the video goes off, the fans keep spinning, the rgb works, but the computer doesn't respond, i press the caps lock key and it doesn't work, the only way to turn the pc on again is to press the power button till it turn it off and then i turn it on again, it happens randomly, sometimes once a day, sometimes 10 times a day, sometimes once a week, and idk if it's the power supply or the motherboard, both are just 1 year old, and this happen also when I'm on the bios, doing nothing, so it has nothing to do with windows or a driver
I have something similar.. only happens when I game.. I have ran ram tests, reinstalled gpu drivers etc.. not sure of a fix.
Same in my case dont know what to do any fix ?
@@2010aishwary My problem was the motherboard but was difficult to diagnose, I had to take my CPU to a repair shop for them to try in another motherboard and it worked fine, so since I already tested all the other components the last one was the motherboard, I changed the motherboard and now it works fine
oh, I'm supposed to unplug my PC when it starts smoking? I just tried overclocking all components As far as I could take them
My pc sometimes starts up but sometimes doesn't.
When it doesn't start up, it either:
1) Starts up cpu fan, and cpu fan stops immediately.
2) OR Doesn't start up cpu fan at all.
When I switch off the power at the plug and on again, unplugged most of usb devices, it can turn on.
Plugging back those devices, the pc still continue running fine.
But when I let it sleep, it can't turn back on.
Before the first incident of not being able to start up the pc, I might have heard some louder fan noise sometimes from the PSU.
Is this a PSU problem?
Likely either PSU or motherboard
@@VelocityMicroPC After I changed the CMOS battery and removed my GPU, the PC is now able to start up, shut down, start up again, sleep, and wake up without removing any USB device or switching off the power at the socket.
What if the only led that works is the GPU? And the pc wouldn't turn on. Is that most likely a psi failure?
Main board issue most likely.
I do have some questions if anyone can answer them. I have been getting kicked out of a lot of my games and an error message will always occur through the game itself. For instance, on the finals, it will kick me out after the game stutters a little bit and it’ll give me some errors I’m thinking that it’s my power supply not giving my system, enough power or something like that, maybe it might be the ram if anyone has any information, please let me know😁🙏
im having the 2nd issue spontaneous reboot its been happening a lot more recently it can happen anywhere from an hour into gameplay to 5 hours in I've contacted corsair and they are sending me a new and better rated psu luckily.
Mainboard LED glowing when PSU is turned on.
Pressing the power-on button makes it glow for quarter of a second, then the whole mainboard loses power.
