      I once was trying to flash a board for a friend for like an hour. Thought it was the usb drive’s format or that I renamed the file wrong. I started panicking.
      All of a sudden I saw the wifi antenna ports on the IO….realised I was trying to flash the non-wifi BIOS.🤦‍♂️
      10 minutes later were in windows, latest bios and a ryzen 5000 up and running.

      Updating a bios scares me to fire everytime I do it. Mainly worried about a power surge or outage. I have never bricked a board yet doing it. On my last couple of builds they have the bios flash back feature which makes things a whole lot easier. Great call Greg and what an upstanding person for admitting a simple oversight.

    Sad that many of these early x570 boards didn't have flashback. Many a board have been dumped as a result. This feature needs to be on boards no matter how "cheap."

    • @spankbuda7466
      @spankbuda7466 2 года назад

      It's not a upgraded feature for the PC novice. Manufacturers/retailers do not want to be dealing with bricked board returns and high tech support call volumes. This feature is useless for the vast majority of PC users because they do not mess around with the bios for the most part and most are illiterate when it comes down to this.

    • @James-jh6wq
      @James-jh6wq 2 года назад +1

      @@spankbuda7466 I mean most users won't be overclocking their RAM/CPU, setting PCIe bifrucation, or so on besides enabling XMP, but when say someone wants to upgrade their CPU and need a BIOS update, this feature would be extremely helpful. On top of the fact that not even bios flashback, just a second chip, likely doesn't cost more than 50 cents in bulk considering how small they are.

    • @qT_p13
      @qT_p13 2 года назад

      @@spankbuda7466 You say its for the pc novice, then say the average consumer won't update the bios and are illiterate anyway...so it isnt for the novice?
      You then say they don't want to deal with rma, but some boards don't work out of the box with certain cpus... which could result in an rma?

    • @spankbuda7466
      @spankbuda7466 2 года назад

      My mistake, I was typing and accidentally cleared out "not". But also, when you state that some boards doesn't work with certain CPU's that falls on the end user for not reading the packaging or contacting the manufacturer tech support because of their ignorance. This is when prebuilds are important. Some people shouldn't be building anything without researching and studying first.

    • @qT_p13
      @qT_p13 2 года назад

      @@spankbuda7466 clears that up lol. But in this case it really doesn't always fall on the end user, because lots of b50/x570 boards didn't work with ryzen 5000 out of the gate, so how can a user possibly know that when amd advertise new cpus without explaining any of this? Also even some intel b660 boards have this issue with 12th gen and this is the first gen on that socket!

    I have a motherboard that refuses to turn on when I shortcut the power button. The red light stays on and that's it. The board was functioning I installed win11 by bypassing all the prep requisites (it's a z97 board) I used the pc for a couple of days turning it on and off, then I let it on. When I came back it was apparently on sleep but it refused to wake up when hitting the keyboard or wathever. I turned it off with the shortcut but since then it refuses to turn on again. Actually it did turn on a few times but there was always a issue like vram. The last time it turned on correctly but I had incorrectly plugged the graphic card (arggh) . There was a message on the screen saying power wasn't correctly supplied to the gpu. I turned everything off and correctly plugged the 6 pin vga power. The problem is the motherboard refuses to turn on since then. Everytime I was able to turn it back again I had it unplugged for hours before retrying but this time nothing seems to work.
    Do you have idea? Any help would be appreciated :)

    Thanks for teaching me most of the gaming computer knowledge I will need to know when I eventually am able to afford my own computer. I will definitely use this if I ever run into the issue.

    I picked this motherboard for my first 3950X Build. This board still gives me NIGHTMARES. Can't count how many times I had to pop out the battery. Very picky when it comes to RAM period. Even on the latest bios, enabling XMP will give you a black screen. I passed this X570 TUF Gaming
    Plus Wi-Fi to my younger brother, told him don't mess with anything in the bios, and got me the ROG X570-E Wifi, that does actually boot into Safe Mode due to overclocking errors.
    This board is infamous for sure Greg. I'm glad you figured it out in the end Keep up the great content.

    That was my first X570 board. Still have it, powers my Plex server. All my other systems I switched to the X570 TUF Pro (Wi-Fi). Memory seems more robust on the Pro. Glad you got it sorted :)

    Nice one … yeah compatibility can be a Pita … and some times it’s the simple solutions that you might forget about or overlook that solve the problem
    This is one of those things that should be in the same category as clearing the cmos

    Love the videos Greg...I dig your approach and everything in regards to this series. (And the channel! almost 2 years subscribed!) Though ONE thing that stuck out for me about this one...was the customer having a 4 core CPU on a X570! Please excuse my "snobbery", but it seems like the motherboard is far more than what the CPU was designed for. I ALMOST wanted to reach out and sell your customer a Ryzen 3700x I have handy now after upgrading to a 3rd Gen 5,000 series Ryzen CPU. My apologies if this observation offends anyone!😉

    I have that exact same board, i got a Ryzen 5 3600 just before Covid-19 in January of 2020 with this board. Only two problems i had...the cpu ran very hot on the stock cooler which was odd to me...after seeing other reviews with that problem it seems the stock cooler was not doing a good job...so i got a beefy cooler and that solved the problem....sometime this year the PC just started shutting down...after doing PSU testing..Memory testing it seems that the board just needed a proper cleaning lol its working good now... :) !! nice video i sub and greetings from the Caribbean island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis !!!

    I had a BIOs issue a few months back. I swapped my 3700x to a 5950x and for some reason the new CPU did not work with the latest BIOs update. I would try to load into any games and it was just restart my PC. Tried everything I learned from this series to try to figure out what was wrong with the new CPU. After weeks to testing and trying things out, my PC stopped restating and all I had to do is roll back to an old BIOs. So from everyone that watches your series and your content I wanna thank you for all you do to help us out. 🙌🙌🙌

    @ 6:00 What buttons was you pushing to get boot screen?
    I was given a msi z490 for free from a buddy of mine who had in his rig that wouldn’t power on so he had new motherboard installed and had a hunch that it was something simple so I got it 😁

    It might be worth adding a BIOS update section to every fix or flop from now on, just to be on the safe side 🤷🏾‍♂️ at least it gives the hardware the best chance going forward, whether it's updating to fix issues like memory compatibility or just updating for the sake of being up to date with it

    Hey Greg, do not be hard on yourself. Some people can have many years of experience in computer repair and still miss stuff. It's the nature of computers, sometimes they can sometimes throw up weird and non-predictive stuff. The best thing you can do is what you are doing, persevere and persistence is key.

    Did you reset motherboard to factory settings first than play around with different RAM slots to get the PC to POST? I know some motherboard vendors now reset RAM to default speeds as to minimise borking a BIOS update but it's still good practice for the end user to do it anyway. Good vid all the same, glad you followed up with this motherboard's issues.

    I own a TUF GAMING X570 PLUS (WI-FI). I had a plethora of booting issues for the first few months of ownership. Every time a new BIOS would come out I would update it and everything would work fine for a few months. Then, boot loops. My issue seemed to be a combination of a 5600X and 3600 MHz CL18 Vengeance low-profile RAM. That orange light would come on CONSTANTLY. I appreciate you taking the time to revisit this because it made me less apprehensive about installing 4403 (which is out of beta phase now).

    Well Greg don't be too hard on yourself. Just remember that you are running solo on all these things.. Most people like Linus or Jayz2cents have a team and sometimes small suggestions can make a huge difference and save a lot of time. Your hardware skills is amazing and I believe that your software skills is also super, you just didn't think of it and there was no one giving that "Maybe BIOS" suggestion. Sometimes you just can't think of it all at once. Kudos for making another video about it and sorting it out. My dream is to just build and fix PC's like you. I just absolutely love PC's and everything about it.
    Proud of you man, you have come such a long way!
