On passing my test my driving instructor said “well done, now you can learn how to drive”
Exactly. The entire time I was taking my driving test I kept wondering, "So... when do I actually get to look at the road ahead of me?" because everything is a "check this, check that, do this, do that." with hardly any actual driving techniques taught.
I think that's pretty true. You don't really know how to drive until you've done it a million times and have stopped focusing on doing all the right things. I passed my test perfectly but I immediately got on the road alone and I had to figure out a whole new set of difficulties. The driving test makes you a technically correct driver but it doesn't teach you how to actually drive your car.
Once I passed my driving test I never used the six point check unless it was really dark, I drive with just one hand because two can get tiring especially on straighter roads
It's ridiculous how true that statement is

Only pull the handbrake when you are taking a 90 degree turn at 60mph.
only pull the handbrake when you are listening to deja vu
Real drivers don’t handbreak to drift

I had two driving instructors, with one instructing me to feed the wheel and the other calling me an old lady for doing so. Same driving school.
I had an instructor at a racing school tell me to learn to shuffle steer/feed the wheel and I did. It has helped to make me much smoother. I'm also a tall guy and it cured some ergonomic problems for me stuffing myself into small sports cars.
lol
"Speed ist the enemy" as a german, when I attended driving school we did Autobahn lessons where I would go about 180 Km/h (~112 mph) regulary (mainly when overtakting). It seems to be very problematic if young drivers dont learn 'how to go fast properly'. That is because they will either go fast anyways and wont know how to drive at such speeds or they will slow down traffic around them and make other drivers take unnecessary risks.
Damn. In US if you get caught going 15+ above limit its considered reckless endangerment and automatic jail time plus a huge fine with that charge.
@@oceanbytez847 autobahns have limitless parts btw
In Romania it is forbidden to take driving lessons on the highway...partly because we don't have highways.
People who are scared of driving fast shouldn't be driving. Same with anyone remotely uncomfortable with any common manouvre
YolophantHD German autobahns don’t have a speed limit tho. Here in The Netherlands the speed limit has been changed to 100km/h (60 mph) max and driving 180 will make you lose your license instantly + a huge fine + you will likely have to attend a course on road safety that you will have to pay for yourself.
First thing I unlearned was stopping for red lights
That's not something you need to unlearn because you actualy need to stopc

In my country, flashing headlights either means "speed the fuck up" or "get the hell out my way".
Ah, in the UK it generally means "I'm letting you pass" (if there are parked cars or obstacles in the oncoming car's way) but can occasionally be a warning of a speed check or something up with their vehicle.
Bryn Clarke My friend went to UK and wondered why he got flashed when driving perfectly normal, guess that's why. There is foreign language involved even in headlight flashing.
In Canada it typically means there is a cop just up the road.
no you cant in germany, 10€ fine and thats it.

Flashing lights in germany:
1. Cops ahead
2. If youre turning left and need to wait for oncoming traffic, they will flash their lights to signal you that you can go.
3. Speed trap ahead
4. Something is wrong with your car
I highly assume that goes for pretty much every other country too?
Netherlands confirms this.
1 addition: also flash like a motherf***** when someone makes a dangerous move
Same n the US. That and at night when someone from the on coming lane has their fucking brights on, flash them to turn them off until you pass-

Speeding doesn’t kill you, it’s quickly coming to a stop that does
Speed doesn't kill you... INAPPROPRIATE speed and the sudden stop that kills!
If your arms are crossed whilst negotiating a tight left turn for example, and some moron hits you head-on your arms are immediately in front of your airbag. What do you think is gonna hit your face first? The air bag or your forearms? So if you feed the wheel correctly you stay clear of the air bag and can reach full lock a lot faster than crossing your arms. If done correctly. Why? Each movement of the arm if done correctly moves the wheel 180 degrees. So for 1 pull down and 1 up that's a full turn on the wheel. So 2 movements. Crossing your arms however gives you at best 120 degree of rotation without getting into an awkward position. So that's 3 movements to get the same result. And yes I am an advanced driver something the author of the video clearly isn't. Have a nice day😁😊
David Dulson I bet you’re fun at parties
...or being smashed by a two ton car travelling at 80mph when it hits you on foot.
Well done! You succeeded in stealing one of jeremy Clarkson's quotes. And is actually "speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary that's what gets you."
Hand-braking at every stop???
WHAT?!!?
Makes sense in a manual car to not roll back.
Although I feel like you should be able to heel toe in a manual eventually
@@arsenalfanatic09 just hold the clutch down at the same time as braking (then change shift to neutral if you will have to stop completely)?
+Spethman Jones *"Hand-braking at every stop???"* Don't worry, my friend. There is no requirement to apply the handbrake every time the vehicle stops; this is a common misconception about the British driving test which arises from poor instruction, or (in most cases) simple misunderstanding of the advice given. The handbrake should be applied _as and when necessary_ - not every single time the vehicle comes to a halt. Apocrypha like this has dogged perceptions of the test for over seventy years, and whereas no-one in his right mind would say it is perfect, it certainly is not as rigid and inflexible as this bloke suggests.
@@arsenalfanatic09 well.. it dosent, unless you on a hill or something.

Love how the BMW cliche is universal 😂
They are migrating to Audis too
There was a huge study done in the US that found that the more expensive your car is, the less likely you'll stop for pedestrians or let other drivers merge. The chart showed a decrease in these two variables by 3% for every $1000 more your car cost. The funny thing is, it found that the vehicle make/model wasn't a viable parameter. So a 2007 BMW driver was still nicer than a 2016 Lexus driver.
Conclusion: The richer you are, the more chances that you're an asshole.
Shane I don’t need a study to tell me that rich people are ass wholes driving and in person 😂

“Drain your indicator fluid”
I’m dead 😂
BMWs do not have blinker fluid. They have a dry system that sucks. The blinkers go bad in about a year of operation. They are super expensive to replace so most BMW drivers just do not bother replacing the damaged blinkers. I do not know why BMW just does not use the proven, reliable, fluid filled system like all other car companies.
I thought they had 6 speed mechanical indicators which regularly suffer from overheating, causing them to lose their orange colour and stop working
Yes. Indicators run on indicator fluid similarly to headlights which run on headlight fluid. Everyone knows that.
What is this? Why you fill your lamp with fluid?
In Poland you can literally fail the test for feeding the wheel.
We would kill ourselves if we lived in Poland anyway
In Portugal you get points deducted for arm crossing
@@GloriosoMD Sounds like they need to update their test on safety.
in Estonia noone cares how you turn the wheen, aslong as hands are used and it works.
Turning with 1 hand is toatally okay even, thought they will find a place to make the 1 handys fail at turning if you do.

"speed is your enemy" When I did my driving lessons my instructor told me to go 160km/h at night with heavy rain on the autobahn.
Is your instructor alright now ?
I'm taught that speed difference is the enemy. Doing 30 on the highway is far more dangerous than doing 100mph. Most of the time your speed will be much closer to that of the rest of the traffic. It's a different story when you run into a traffic jam, but that just underlines my point: speed difference is the enemy
@@AwoudeX bingo. I live in the US, but if everyone else is going 10 over im going 10 over too.
One guy going 55 while everyone else is going 80 is more dangerous than everyone going 90.
@@itsmb8 Yes, but if the 55 doing guy is within the traffic rules, that is fine if you can anticipate for it. If you get stuck behind, fall back a bit, choose a good time to accelerate to proper speed, check for a hole in the fast lane (if it is that busy) and then merge while at proper speed for it.
We had a speed limit of 130 km/h and due to nitrogen emissions they reduced it to 100 km/h. I'll have my speedometer at 110 as that is the speed everyone goes. Cars usually have that margin, at 100 on the speedometer you'll do actually 90-95, the manufacturer made it so for legal reasons. On top of that, for legal reasons if they catch you doing 105, a legal correction of 5 km/h is applied due to expected inacurracies for measuring speed by the police. We're safe doing 110 on the speedometer, at least from cops ^^
@@itsmb8 i rather not having to pay that ticket... i mean, i just worry about the money that i dont have.. you have to appear in court for it in adition to the money... i feel it has to be the most tedious thing to do

right 17 years ago... in US, they would have failed me for feeding the wheel
+wqui,7genite n
yea, i was taught to do it just like they said you should do in the video
Interestingly in Australia, we're taught both. The video method for tight corners, push and pull/feeding for medium corners, just nudging the wheel for small ones.
I'm also in Australia and I was told that I have two options, the push-pull and the hand-over-hand and told to use "whichever you feel more comfortable with". Needless to say, 98% of the time I do hand over hand, the other 2% is either palming the wheel around or one hand inside the wheel (both of which I would not recommend)
Another bonus point: if you're an Audi driver, ignore the '3 second behind the car in front of you' rule.
IKR one time I saw an Audi and it almost plowed into the back of a school bus
Why seconds? Why don't you use car lengths? Like say 5 car lengths when traveling over 100kph.
Because a 'car length' is an arbitrary statement. Leaving a three second gap will account for peoples reaction time, and is safer. There is no specific measurement for a 'car length', and it's not as simple as saying "1 car length for every 20km" or something, because that isn't how the real world works.
Most 'normal' people have a reaction time of 1.5 seconds. If the car in front suddenly stops, that only leaves you 0.5 seconds to stop too. So unless you have a good reaction time (or drive an Audi) then don't leave a 2 second gap.
Or a lifted truck
In Bulgaria, flash with headlight is use to warn other driver's for a cops :D
This is true in the U.S. as well. If you get caught doing it you get in trouble. :)
In the US, flashing lights can mean several things :P
mostly flash for pigs though
Is it illegal in the US to flash?
+Jack AD yes if they see you do it, it's an automatic ticket.
Fun fact: You can fail a test in the UK due to "response to signals: other road users".
Two years later, still salty.
that is just stupid
Flashing is a really important part of traffic here in Hungary. f.e. 2 flash (usually) means "You can go ahead" (like in merging, letting someone out or for oncomings to turn across your lane, etc). And this is/can be used during the learning as well. (actually it was one of the first things my instructor said)
You should react to things that have a definate meaning. Flashing beams could mean get out of the fucking way my horn isn't working and i cant stop. My horn stopped working once and I had to use my lights instead. They're shit

The part about BMW drivers not using their turn signal light was funny, and happens in the US as well.
it is a funny thing , is there some truth to it? are they are not required to indicate or it is jst rhetorical thing to say???
It is required for all drivers to indicate. He simply said that because BMW drivers tend to ignore the indicator.
because BMW drivers have a sense of entitlement and don't feel anyone else deserves their indication
in hungary they say: if you think your life is worthless, think about the people whos job is to install indicators on bmws.
I didn't know that! lol...
I feel bad for anyone who doesn’t get the joke at the end
Yeah, the people who actually drive them!
I *CRINGED!*
some of the others was a joke too you know 😂
It's not actually a joke. Here in Oz that behavior as well as sitting in the right lane when not overtaking is the reserve of Toyota drivers
@@KTM250SX07 Here in America, it's required by law to keep right except to pass, but most everyone I encounter when on the road treat the left lane like another simple lane.
The "feed the wheel" method is truly from an archaic era before power steering. Back then, you really had to tug at the steering wheel to get the car to turn, using your arm strength, rather than hydraulic fluids mechanism.
Even then it wasn't that bad as long as you were moving, and using the non-driving school technique is still preferable
What was also an archaic steering method from the unassisted steering days is the 10 and 2 hand position, as it would help the driver gain some leverage
I missed I think 7 or 8 marks on my driving test. 6 of them were because I wasn't "looking" enough at stops. In reality the proctor was 200 years old and was't paying attention when I was moving my entire body to look around at stops to make them obvious. Still passed first try tho
I got 4 minors, 2 for late indication, 2 for no indication. guess what car I drive :)
It's always the examiner's fault, isn't it?
I didn't know a Shiba Inu could drive. Much good.
My test had some stupid bullshit about reversing around corners, so I got a point off for being more than a few inches from the curb. Oh, and points off for indicator use while parallel parking. You know how you straighten out the wheel and the indicator turns off? Yeah, apparently the guy thought I should have immediately turned it back on while I was already in the spot. Of course, I passed because even his dumb ass couldn't find anything else to mark off.

Yeah, pretty much this, unfortunately. All except the six-point check at every junction. You have to do it if you're moving away after being parked or doing a three-point turn (or turn-in-the-road as we call it here). But I have never EVER heard of anyone being instructed to do it at every single junction, you usually just have to check your mirrors...unless things have changed in the nine years since I took my test.
Oh yeah, and the handbrake thing as well.

You only apply your handbrake if a stop becomes a wait!
Well, if the car is on a flat surface so it doesn't roll forward nor back it can stay without any brakes xd
Of course when you leave the car you should pull the handbrake (just in case)
This also prevents your car from plowing into whatever it is in front of you in case you get read ended.
Well I use the handbrake to stop the car, I never use the services brake. Using the handbrake is more safe and give you less braking distance. (Sarcasm)
Krzysztof Korzeniewski its handy
I never let a car sit anywhere without being Or driving Or with a brake on. In front of traffic lights i just hold the regular brakes. If you are tired after work you may not notice it when you’re rolling slowly into someone else at a traffic light. So, better safe (= brake) than sorry. Technically it’s better to use the parking brake than the normal brake for this though... The front brakes just had to stop the car so they are hot, and by keeping them applied it may deform some things. The handbrake only applies the rear brakes.
In my country, flashing headlights to cars going my way means "cops with speed cameras ahead, be careful mate" (or "Thanks", if flashing back), and to pedestrians "C'mon cross the fuckin' street, I don't have all day"

A double flash is nearly always "Oy mate, WTF?!"
Speeding on driving tests is mandatory here in Belgium. Driving 27 in a 30 is usually a fail because you drive unnecessarily slow. Driving between 30 and 34 in a 30 makes the examer happy since he sees that you understand traffic flow.
Well here in Brasil if you drive 41 in a road that is 40 you actually don’t know how to drive
My driving test was so stupidly easy that it's no wonder that half of the people on the road drive like idiots. It lasted all of 3 minutes and we never even left the parking lot. welp time to rent that automatic
And if you’re left handed you have to deal with everyone else being right handed.
It has one advantage over right-hand gear shifting: the same half of your brain controls the clutch pedal and the gearstick, which helps coordinating those two. But it's hell when you have to switch to a left-hand drive car.
Very awkward for right handed people, especially me because my left hand is an absolute spaz
I didn't find that to be a problem (I'm from the US and drove a standard in Australia), the pattern is the same, just on the other side. Now if they switched the pedals that would have been a problem.🙂

My instructor encouraged me to drive with 1 hand. On almost every slow turn he told me to turn with 1 hand and shift to second with the other to train me. Almost no one drive with 2 hands in my country. Best instructor ever
Fake video, indicator fluid is obviously yellow... -_-
If I pee white fluid, is that fake because it's not yellow?
No it's not...
I didn't know that turn signals needed a liquid. They are lights. Lights don't need a fluid.

In germany we aren't even alowed to "feed the wheel" in driving school. At least in my driving school
BWOLF Yeah, we basically just cross our arms over here because it would be inefficient otherwise.
BWOLF I am not even driving (too young) but how can anyone drive like that?!
@@illusion86ln I don't get it either, though my instructor orders me to do it. If I do it incorrectly he yells and slaps my hands..
Kichka Angeloca wtf is wrong with him
i didnt get told to "feed the wheel" by my instructor in the UK, he just said not to cross hands, so basically i could steer anyway i wanted, as long as i didnt cross my hands, and i had two hands on the wheel, so i basically ended up with one hand on the top of the wheel, the other at the bottom, and just steering with the top hand, while the bottom hand was merely a guide to the wheel, my instructor said that was fine for the test, so basically you can steer anyway you like, as long as you dont cross your hands, and you keep two hands on the wheel.
here in Croatia we only use flash light to aware eachother when there's police nearby to slow down ;D

Slovakia same thing :D
Brazil too
USA too
Here in the Netherlands the 6 point check and feeding the wheel are also taught. instantly stopped doing both as i got my own car.
However, i had a driving instructor who really pushed me to go fast on highways and accelerate quickly behind your fellow drivers to not hinder traffic behind you. It was really nice because it meant i was never afraid to drive fast on highways and it made me a more confident driver in general, in a good way that is.

Uk driving tests seem pretty strict compared to the us
michael browne at least more people drive standard transmissions over there
Chace The Drummer they are very strict over here and 99.9% do the test in a manual transmission car
Not in the slightest its only a basic standard , which should be improved on after the test
...and the average American forgets how to drive as soon as they get their license anyway :3
The US driving test is a joke, you can do it in an automatic (That's like driving a freaking gokart) and you don't even have to take a theoretical quiz.
I took my driving test about three years ago. From what I remember, it was fine to not use your handbrake, and "progressive driving" was encouraged, especially on dual carriageways to the point that you'd get a minor for not driving fast enough/making progress. Still meant that you had to be constantly checking your speed ofc.
Hand over Hand method is taught and expected on driving tests in Canada, parking brake is for parking only, and in drivers school it is highly recommended to use all forms of possible communication to give to other drivers
Bob Smith parking brake is great at stop lights in a manual- auto you dont need it at all.
I get my left foot off the clutch, poise my right foot over the brake (in case of fuckwits from behind)
Plus a handbrake in a manual car lets you do a racing start - you only need launch control in dct's because if you try yourself you'll fry the clutch
I was taught by my instructor, if you stop and release the clutch you should apply the handbrake, as it makes driving away after stopping easier, especially on a hill. I still do this on hills as it allows me to builds revs and not roll back.
You drive an automatic yes? because using your HANDBRAKE is useful in a manual, because pressing the footbrake setting the gas and using a clutch at the same time is a little tricky with 2 feet..... and holding the car still on anything uphill with your clutch pedal creates a nice burning smell.
That's what heel-and-toe is for right? :-p
In America we only use the handbrake/footbrake when parking on steep hils or when idling even in manual vehicles. I would not trust it to hold on most manuals I've driven though. On my truck it barely will but only if unloaded. If you have to park on a hill always leave it in 1st/reverse and with brake pulled. I advise no one to ever trust a handbrake to hold they are very bad for failing.
Wow Uk driving exam really is outdated, using your handbrake everytime you stop? What a bunch of balony, it is called PARKINGbrake in most countries for a reason.
The video is kind of exaggerated. Using the handbrake constantly isn't encouraged and you won't be penalised for not using it all the time.
so you dont use handbrake on longer stops? for me it is a nice relieve to let my right foot go free instead of constantly hogging the break on longer stops. same goes for the clutch, on longer stops i am putting the car in neutral, so my left foot can relax.
It depends on the area and the length of the stop. In GB, there's a lot of small roads and stop starting, this means you're never really stationary for long periods of time, so it's not always necessary to use the handbrake. In fact, you have to be relatively careful about it in the actual driving test as you can be penalised for holding other drivers up if you use the handbrake constantly. For some stops it's better to just clutch control, the reason people don't is simply that, if you roll back even slightly it's an instant fail.
zampano 006 My car doesnt have hill start assist, so I have to us the handbrake on hills :(
If you get off the clutch when you're stopped, it also probably prolongs the clutch life. I got 16 years out of my last one.
3:39 he did use his indicators.
He did but his blinker fluid was empty
the would of like pretend it was being emptied (like at that view of the fluid flowing down the front right side of the car) it could be like water from another bowl being poured from the hood of the car, or maybe that is true but i don't think so cause i think the fluid might be somewhere in the engine bay or under the car ect. I'm not this good with cars but this is just my thoughts.
@@robertsteel3563 .... It's a common joke/troll. There is no blinker fluid

are you high
I didn't know you were a car enthusiast Mumbo.
Ay mumbos here :P
In my country only old men and losers who cant drive milk the wheel like that
Driving a stick sucks in America, very few people understand the concept so people get mad when you roll back or don't accelerate fast enough because your car isn't shifting for you, when I was learning, idiots would always honk at me when I stalled. Everyone here is an automatic normie
Who's fault is it to stall?
ZeroTox
You should probably learn in a more isolated area and reduce the risk of causing accidents until you get used to driving. Sometimes, you can't always avoid traffic though.
+2010ngojo I've been driving stick for years now, just back then when I was learning it was annoying, but yeah that's what I did when I learned, but you have to drive in public to really learn you know
obviously the vehicle it's fault not the driver! :)
And sometimes it is... I'd say that around half the times I've stalled unexpectedly in the last 5 years have been due to driving shitty old cars that don't always behave consistently.
When I took my test, the driving instructor took me on roads at about 65 mph. Also, we were turning off of the major 65 mph roadway onto a 25 and I was following someone else. Without paying attention, I ended up going to same mph as the guy ahead of me which was about 20 over. As soon as I realized this, I calmly applied the brakes and got it back under 25 and the driver instructor said "good, key part of driving is when you realize that you may be going over the speed limit." and didn't mark me. XD
I don't really know why he didn't mark me...
He didn't mark you because what you did was safe. The safest speed to drive on the freeway is the same speed that everyone else is driving -- accidents happen where there are major speed differentials. So you were driving safely, watching the road and drivers, and when you realized you were speeding, you slowed down. Good driving!
most instructors would of failed you though... pretty rare.
my instructor would panic the moment i went 1km above, and the moment i went 1km below.
the car had a digital meter :S
+Randy Taylor untrue, it's a minor fault to go over the speed limit momentarily. If you linger above it, they'll bring it to your attention and then fail you.
However, it appears this person had a pretty down to earth and understanding examiner
Lucky you.Mine kept telling me to slow go faster and to fast go slower!!! For god fucking sake!!! I'm not driving a fucking tesla! Keeping it around 20 mph is a chore enough! Thanks goodness I barely passed.
Thank goodness someone's finally said this! Particularly on feeding the wheel; it is the most ridiculous and inefficient method of steering, and probably originates from a time before PAS was universal and more strength was required to steer. Personally whenever I turn out of a junction, I check every mirror, including the one on the sun visor, quickly check the glovebox, under the seat, check the door bins and then screech off in an uncontrolled manner without using my indicators. It's always worked for me.
I'd take what Alex says here with a pinch of salt.
Virtually *all* modern cars - now fitted with drivers' airbags, could inflate at a speed of around 200 mph, in the event of a deployment if the steering "correction" isn't made when deemed urgent.
Invariably, this would result in serious facial and/or hand and/or wrist injuries from its abrupt deployment.
This _could_ maybe(?) have been argued to have been justified in a situation where somehow(?) the driver would have advance knowledge of the relevant part of a future unexpected event whereby a *_second,_* uncontrollable hazard may make itself apparent immediately following the _first_ *possible* hazard, such as a pedestrian of concern.
This would result in scrambled steering in order to HOPE to retain control, which is of course not defensive, critically thought through driving.
But if a motorist has advance knowledge of _one_ particular hazard, then what would be stopping them from applying the brakes when they need to?
And what's then to stop there from being a *THIRD* potential hazard [all at the same time], such as an oil spill or a patch of black ice in the road to have to deal with??
Push-pull driving, isn't a daft concept in the slightest.
It provides a "safety net" for the realistic, yet simultaneously *unknowable* events that could affect road users during the course of a journey.
In the event of any collision with anything or anyone, then at least you can walk away both knowing that you had no more knowledgeable opportunity to DEFINITELY safely avoid an unexpected hazard, and that you have not suffered from the injuries with which you could suffer a lifetime - *because you weren't thoughtfully informed by somebody else of this fact.*
@@letsdiscussitoversometea8479 well said. I will say shuffle steering is hard for most people to do smoothly and takes years of practice. I do it without even thinking about it. A good driver probably switches between steering motion types without noticing depending on the situation. The only steering method I can't stand is when people put their palm up, grab the top of the wheel, then turn. Super common.
7. Turning your fucking head at EVERY INTERSECTION. No bitch, my eyes can move, i don't need to turn my head!
Atleast some truth in that one though. The corners of your eyes see way less compared to the center "cone". Turning aint a bad thing to do (though if you have clear sight of the intersection beforehand, there shouldn't be a point lol, just see if something is around when you start driving).
You can see clearly from the corners of your eyes, but you see color the best from the center of your eye. It's actually called the fovea.
+Chisom Adaora, that's not even remotely true. Your eyes have only about 3% of the total visual field in focus at any time, it's just that your eyes generally dart all over the place giving you a seemingly sharp image.
Peripheral vision is nowhere near as good at the central vision is and is mostly useful for identifying large objects to focus on.
+Chris L I didn't even address what you're talking about, and I said humans see the best through their fovea because it detects color.Your eyes move and depending on the intersection you don't always have to turn your head. Read what the whole comment thread was about first before you try to tag someone to "correct" them.
I read the comment and you're full of it. It's demonstrably false that the peripheral vision is as clear as the central vision.

In Ireland you have to sit a theory test first which consist of 40 questions about driving and you need to answer 35 of them right to pass. Then you can get your learners license. You can drive on the road with this but you have to have someone with a full license in the car with you. Then you have to do 12 hours of lessons and you have to keep your learners license for 6 months before you do your driver's test.

And that rule about not crossing your hands on the steering wheel is bull too. Race car drivers cross their hands.
This is so true. I've already failed my first two driving test for ridiculous reasons. You should definitely forward this video to the DVSA. It's such a stupid system. I can drive absolutely fine, but because of a couple of small and irrelevant issues I now have to pay a stupid amount of money to retake my test.
Why are they failing you? What reasons?
Brian Edward Psolka I uploaded to my channel for you. Take a look...
Looked at the video, read the description and you wouldnt have been able to stop if a child would have run across the zebra crossing. Pretty self explanatory. If you dont get it, then you are not ready to get your licence yet .
fortydaysrain I get it completely. However, my opinion differs and I strongly feel that I would have been able to stop. Either way, the result of the test cannot be changed so I'll just have to go a third time and keep my fingers crossed.
Not to mention that my driving instructor also thought that I had enough time to stop.
If you "Feed the wheel" in Poland, you are going to fail your exam.

In Malaysia, flashing lights multiple times to the oncoming traffic sends a message that reads "there's a police roadblock ahead, be ready" .
Same in South Africa.

In the US, flashing highs means one of four things:
1 Your highs are on/not on
2 Be careful, there’s something requiring caution up ahead
3 Go
4 Don’t go
Oh, and I guess there’s actually a fifth - “YOU’RE IN THE RIGHT LANE OF A FIVE LANE HIGHWAY DRIVING FIVE MILES OVER THE SPEED LIMIT WITH THE OTHER FOUR LANES OPEN, BUT I’M FLYING ALONG AT 15 OVER AND DON’T FEEL LIKE MOVING OVER SO I’M JUST GOING TO DRIVE TWO INCHES BEHIND YOU AND CONSTANTLY BLIND YOU UNTIL YOU GO AS FAST AS I WANT YOU TOO!”

I've seen like 2 BMWs using indicators. do i report them to the police? or give them the finger?
Yes.
That's what I do!
LOL WHERE DID U C ME... :/ I only used it on the bigger roundabout doe.
You need to report them to the police definitely for a suspected stolen car.
Stop them and give them an award for not being a douchebag on a bmw
Funny thing is that my driving school actually only has BMWs.
I really had to resist the urge to make indicator-jokes on many occasions.
Same. Was always cruising 10-20 kph over speed limits except on the day i took the license (0-5 kph above speed limits) aswell. I did drive a VW t-roc a few times in the driving school and that was one of the dullest moments in my life. Hated the gearbox, lack of engine noise, press the gas and wait 10+ sec to reach a comfortable speed.
I didn’t do any of these things when I learnt to drive and I passed my test with ease! I accepted somebody flashing me out & I flashed 2 other people out on my test! Also you don’t do six point checks every time you pull out of a junction you’d be done for hesitation!
I love BMW's with my heart but I was dying laughing at the last one
"Feeding the wheel" was always explained to us in American driving school as a superior hold on the wheel because of air bags. Last thing you want between you and an explosive expanding bag is your arms. Can't speak for all states, but that's how they taught us where I'm at.
Dhime junk
Actually really quite logical, specially if you're losing control on a bend surrounded by trees, ouch 😂

I live in India. Here in order to pass the driving test you need to:
Make sure that you have seatbelt on
Use turn indicators only in turns (duh)
Use rear view and side view mirror
And boom you're passed.... unless you have some spare money, then you don't even need to pass the test.
Damn, India is a corruption free developing country.
I've never been to India but from what I hear its also the wild west of driving.
Depends on where you are. Drive defensively and you'll be fine
Besides most of the time you'll rarely get over 60 kmph
what if your vehicle doesn't have seat belts? Here in the US I've seen a lot of older vehicles(1960's and older for the most part) that don't have any belts whatsoever.
You forgot to mention that after each action you take, whether it's indicating, turning up wheel, it has to be followed with a complementary pressing of the horn 👍
Shivam Vishwakarma The Indians that love in my boyfriends apartment are terrible drivers and always almost crash or honk their horns for no good reason :)
I failed my first test for ‘trusting people’s indicators’ 😂
They actually can be deceiving at roundabouts when people use them at the inappropriate time
You shouldn’t trust indicators though. You’ll end up in a crash eventually when someone else indicates wrong
So I took my drivers test in Tennessee. You don't have to parallel park, merge, or do anything remotely challenging to anybody. All I had to do was drive down a road, make a U-Turn, then go back and park.
in UK you will pass without ever going above 30mph
I think it depends where you learn though. If you live in a city centre maybe. But if you live on outskirts/a couple of miles away at least you will need to drive into the city which generally has national speed limit roads.
Wake no matter where you learn, you wont go on a motorway, thats a stupidly massive flaw in the system
daniel117100 Yep, you can go on Dual Carriageways but that's it. As you are only holding a provisional license you aren't legally allowed on the motorway I believe.
Where I live you don't even have to drive on the streets, it's a closed course where you have to parallel park and reverse down a curve, that's why most people can't drive for shit
The excuse for the shuffling method is that it doesn't cross your arms over the steering wheel airbag when it deploys.
And it makes sense, because a deployed airbag is very likely when you crash while shuffling around a tight corner.
They teach you that shit in England?!?!?
Lime Icing they're archaic just like the rest of the country
We drive on the correct side of the road. It's the yanks who've got it wrong. Historically one should drive on the left to ensure that one can wield a sword in case some madman challenges you on the road.
Skuldugery It's leftover custom. There's no point switching sides now. But since it was a universal way of driving for centuries and switching to the other side of the road was a relatively recent endeavour it can be said that the left is the correct side if the road and the rest of Europe and the US were just trying to be edgy. ;)
Lime Icing i guess so...😂😂
lefties though
I live in Ireland so the driving test is basically the same as the UK. My instructor asked me how would I check if my headlights work to which I said, turn them and get out and check which you would! He said no you turn them on then drive up to a window or wall to see if the are on!! Why the f**k would you do that?? Hop out and check for yourself is way more accurate than looking for a damn wall or window to drive up to! Irish/UK driving test are stupid!
That's the best way to check if your brake lights are working. Every other light on the car can be checked by getting out and walking around, though.
I usually look at the indicator lol sorry modern car problems. Also they come on automatically. I do agree with you how dumb that sounds. So then should I drive around not knowing if they are on before driving off?
The indicator will shine even if a bulb is burnt out.
Is jacksepticeye the most popular Irish youtuber?
Shane Earley! There is a name I haven't seen in ages for some reason. Glad to see you're still making the car review vids.
the feeding of the wheel comes from a time when cars had no power steering because you needed both hands to turn the dam thing, and no self centring caster angle. but as the DVLA are stuck in the passed it stays that way.
They also claim its to prevent hand injuries if your airbag goes off
I didn’t feel my wheel on my driving test and I passed. (3 years ago UK)
Sonic Well luckily my car has no airbags.
They’re probably still teaching it because although powered steering is standard in the vast majority of cars today, there are still vehicles from the early 2000s and late 90s, for example, without powered steering. Plus, it’s quite common to see 17 year-olds having a cheap car from the early 2000s as their first car.
Funny being I drive classic cars with no power steering frequently. The hand over hand method is pretty effective
I tried “feeding the wheel” when I was first practicing and by golly did I screw up every turn
