By far the most simplified video for beginners . I do Russian twists with weights , but hands go down with when on the sides . Will keep this form in mind next time . Thanks !
I used to do it in a wrong way for which my body even after working out regularly for 2 months had no change Thnx to this I'm gonna do it in a right way now
Very clear demonstration, excellent detail, the opposite of one I just watched which was focussed on the burn rather than on doing it effectively ; ) Thank you, Gentlemen.
This was like taking a breath of fresh air after spending a day in Manhattan- like this was super clear and informative and everything makes so mucch sense, thank you!
This is at least the 3rd video I've viewed re how to do the Russian twist. This by far is the best I've seen. Great work. Thank you for posting this video. Wishing you all the best of success. P.S. you have a new subscriber.
Been doing this for a couple weeks and barely noticed any improvement... watched the video and i might aswell been doing nothing, so many mistakes. Tried how you explain while watching and the fire was on! Thanks for the clear explanation!!
What a great video. I've been doing the Russian Twist all wrong! Thank you for your thorough instruction on how to do it correctly. I definitely feel it in my core with the correct form.
I think it is a great explanation to how perform this exercise and it will be very useful to me on the next training session although I noticed that my legs are much longer than my body ( from ABS to neck ) and always that I perform this exercise( within others ) my legs pull me down to the floor and I did not find the way yet to keep my balance on. Thank you very much for this video, I think is great! ;-)
VIDEO SUMMED UP Straight back Belly button forward Don’t move lower back Only move arms as long as your belly button doesn’t move across Legs still afloat
Awesome instruction! Form is everything. I am just now finding you! Wow! Thanks! I workout from home since the pandemic and I always worry about my form being correct.
I like your video. Very informative . I have a question. During the demonstration, I noticed Will's head follows his hands to the side. I see some You Tube videos on the Russian Twist the head stays still while looking in the front. Can you please clarify that for me ? Thanks.
Hi Harold - thanks for the great feedback! That's an excellent question. The answer is that both techniques can be considered good form - so you can try both out and see which one you prefer. Let us know how you get on?
Vijay Kumar so pleased to hear the great feedback! We filmed 7 new videos last month and they are currently going through the editing process. First one should be out in the next couple of weeks, so keep a look out!
I wish our American training videos would feature normal guys like this instead of the usual naked steroid junkies. And the explanations here are a thousand times better, covering all the possible errors!
Hi 354, there are two options you can try: 1) Try much smaller turns and then gradually increase the range of movement as you get stronger. 2) You can try anchoring your feet (such as on the bottom of a sofa or bed) and as you get stronger slowly release your legs. Hope that helps and let us know how you get on!
what the hecc, oh my gosh my gym class didnt teach any form, we werent taught any of these tips, thank you for correct form tips! I though you werent meant to cross your ankles, and you were supposed to touch the ground?
What I do not understand of this video is this obsession about a straight back. The function of the rectus abdominis is to bring the ribcage towards the pelvis and viceversa. Why does necessarily have to be straight? What if you got "tight hamstrings"? You would focus the whole time on the back when your goals is the abdomen instead.
Hi Triija - ff you are finding this then what you can try is anchoring your feet (to something like the base of a sofa or bed) whilst doing the exercise. Let us know if this helps!
"plumb line" is a misleading term. By nature, its function is to be straight vertical. What you are describing should be called "string line", as his back is not vertical (plumb).
It seems that making it so your belly button moves is not exactly a conscious thing. See for me it seems my belly button always moves just a bit it’s sort of like as you move your torso the belly button moves along with it and there’s nothing you can do about that. I have been able to make only my shoulders move and my belly button moves just a tiny bit, but there is no way to keep my belly button completely in the middle unless I Keep my torso completely still
Hi Tempe - you are correct the belly button will move as you go side to side. However by focusing on trying to keep it pointing forwards (even though it will move), you will get much more core activation. So it sounds like you are doing it spot on!

Thanks so much for the great feedback W. Hill!

I having tail bone pain, while doing these russian twists and other core exercises. Is there any solution to kt?
Hi Niha, what type of surface are you doing the exercise on?
Is it ok to touch legs on the floor and do russian twist???
Hi Arjun - yes you can keep your feet on the floor. Then as you get stronger you can try lifting them back up again. Let us know how you get on!
