Building Some Very Capable, Wooden Basement Shelves

  • If you've seen some of my other videos, you'll notice our basement could use some more storage shelves. You might also notice that some of the shelves we have already are pretty awesome! Here, I go ahead and build another shelving unit similar to one we already had. Fully complete, this unit is able to hold up to 20 large rubbermaid-type containers, and helped eliminate much of the stuff we had just sitting on the floor.
    If you'd like to build one of these useful units yourself, see the parts list below. In my area, total parts costs are around $70 US.
    Parts List:
    6x 8' long 2x4's
    4x 6' (or 7') long 2x6's
    6x 6' long 1x12's
    1x 8' long 1x4
    24x 4" long 5/16" carriage bolts
    24x 5/16" nuts
    28x 5/16" washers
    4x 3" 5/16 lag bolts
    48x (or more) 2.5" Nails
