I’ve still got the 03’ 100th anniversary FXDX that I bought brand new in 2003. 650 lbs I believe . I tried an FXR because I heard it was superior , it was too small for me. I’ve twisted 2 or 3 cranks in my FXDX . As it sits now it’s 95” 10:1 comp, with S&S gear drive cams and 06 heads. Backed with a Barnett scorpion clutch. Love my sport, I might take it to my grave.

I had a super glide sport in 2000 new. To be honest I didn’t ride it a lot but I thought it was a fantastic looking bike was everything I thought a Harley club bike should be. I still look at the sports style dyna, and think wow that’s beautiful. I was pestered by a friend to sell it, and i did
Jumpin forward to 2016 id tried a lot of Japanese super cruises M109. M1800R Yamaha 1900 and decided to buy a new DYNA street Bob. Because it seemed to be the latest Incarnation of the super glide sport. It didn’t disappoint
    it was totally blacked out.
And came with fork like tree trunks and had ABS a full keyless and coded security system.
Led lights turn signals brake lights and hazards and stop light I fitted a new exhaust and filter and a ecm and it was fast. Very fast. And it handles new Lowrider s shocks and a lowering cartridge kit in the forks a set of brakeout floating disc F&R.
And Lowrider s bars and risers. To tell the truth I’ve never stopped improving it and giving Harley more money since I bought it.
But I genuinely think the street Bob and low rider s. And possibly the Fatbob are the best and the last of the real Harley’s. I’ve no problem with the super glide sport. I’ll end up buying another. Or the Fxr just the late DYNA s do everything better and are still a proper Harley with 6 speed. So I’d say the street Bob is the best Harley ever produced. Because it does everything better that the 20 year old predecessors. Good blog good topic. And I know all the die hards will disagree but. Your wrong. I’ve owned both.

    • @0hi0hdmc

I had a 2007 streetbob and loved it! My low rider s is a bike that I will take to the grave for sure. I love the fxdx because it is simple and stripped down but wish it had a 6 speed for sure. On all 5 speed bikes I keep reaching for another gear on the highway for sure. I am a fan of the newer model street bob / fat bobs / low rider bikes!

@@0hi0hdmc I bought a dyna Lowrider s My self. So I think you must get my point I jump it over humpback bridges I get about four foot of air at least I think so
the tyres are about the same hight has the peoples face’s in the cars I pass I drift it around roundabouts. And ride it the same has my super moto. I’m a race technician that means I work on race bike at top level races and pit crew I’ve raced motocross enduro grass track and super sport and super bike I even tried drag racing a long time ago. So I’m not a Harley guy. But I love my Harley. Not interested in a soft tail,s I’ll sick to my Harley DYNA for life. But never say never a few of those new Harley’s look superb but I’d always keep the dyna and just for the record I’ve never come across anyone who rides a Harley has hard has I do. And I’ve never once had a speed wobble. Death wobble or head shake. And coming home from my bike club every Wednesday night I come off the freeway flat out. Down the off ramp flat out the las 80/100 yards I touch the brake let them off drop some gears and open the throttle full and drift around a hard right hand turn and just keep the throttle wide open. So if I don’t get this wobble maybe it’s a slow thing. Because it ride hard I have to load the front end to plant it into corners then full throttle around the corner. It works I’ve embarrassed a lot of superbikes and friends who are racers I also ride super bikes. A fireblade and a Ducati Diavel. With the low centre of gravity the Harley corners better. Not a Harley fan but love mine. Hey thanks for the reply. You know a million time more about Harley’s. So don’t listen to me. What do I know. Take care.

Best? Everyone has an opinion. My first Harley ever was a Diamond Ice 99 that crapped a cam bearing at 5000 miles, spreading evil metal everywhere and I got rid of it. It was so bad it wouldn’t run under 2k rpm. Fortunately it was under warranty and the owner of the dealer -Bob DeHaven at Patriot H.D. loaned me his Road King Demo until it was fixed. The good old days.
The bike itself was fun, nimble, and quick. I changed the handlebars, added a windshield, forward controls and was much happier.

I have 4 concerns with FXDX: key ignition switch location behind riders right side is terrible location for ease of use! Top tank trim center piece has rubber backing for protecting the tank. That backing rubber pulles out of it metal edge, making tank top look cheesey! T-bars are too short requiring higher replacement bars! Black engine coating is pealing, esp under carburetor! Cam chain tensioners replacement problems!
