Absolutely. We can debate all day long about Woody Allen, the man, but he's undeniably a great director and writer. Chaz's character in this movie was brilliant.
I gotta say that DuPont commercial triggered me . The chemical company that’s was responsible for all those cancer related deaths across America and most likely around the world.
@@dannykent6190 I rewatched it a few years ago and the editing is a mess. You can tell that it was probably a 4-hour assembly they cut down to it's current running time. The film needed to be longer and have a different pace.
@@Theomite I've watched it many times, including recently. I think it's cut perfectly. There's no unnecessary downtime. Perfect balance between mystery and comedy. Almost seemless transitions. Induces nostalgia for an era of time I was never part of. Quick, clever writing... I place it up there with anything by Sorkin.
@@dannykent6190 It tries to juggle too many substories without diverting too much from the A plot which means too many cutaways to slivers of other scenes.
Everything they say about Radioland Murders is spot on but I still enjoyed it. Its an overly energetic romp that’s got more excitement than it knows what to do with but also such childlike innocence and humor with a love for the magic of radio and the times it dominated nightly entertainment (which I incidentally do as well and love movie centered around radio though it’s well before my time) that it wins me over. I can totally understand someone hating it for the reasons they point out but I like it almost in spite of myself. Is it Bullets Over Broadway, one of the best comedies by one of the best comedy writers in film history? No, not even close(and it’s a brutal twist of fate that had it going up against it) but it’s fun escapism that’s innocence has grown since, cuz at this point, 94 is practically as much the good ol’ days as the 40’s was for the creators of it. Kevin Smith on the other hand I’ve never thought has anything that remotely indicates talent... But sometimes there’s a man, and I’m talking about The Dude and Keven Smith here, sometimes there’s a man, well, he’s the man for his time and place, he fits right in there, and that’s The Dude and Kevin Smith in(early 90’s) Los Angeles
Yes, but they did not like Radioland Murders. My point is that it has similar satire to Hot Shots! and Naked Gun. They both gave thumbs down to Tommy Boy and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective which are 2 of the funniest comedies of the 90s.
Bullets over Broadway was GREAT! Chaz Palmenteri STOLE THE SHOW!

Very funny movie
You take a great written part and put it in the hands of a master and you get brilliance. Chaz was fantastic.
You're right about Chaz.
I love these with commercials. It’s so comforting.

I love new Siskel and Ebert full episodes!
Kevin Smith must love hearing his name being paired with Quentin Tarantino. And I can't believe I've never seen Imaginary Crimes play anywhere, ever.
As I have always said about Kevin Smith, he would have been directed B grade Westerns at Monogram if he started in the 1940's.
Jon Seda would eventually end up in Homicide as a detective and Lauren Velez would end up as the Lieutenant on Dexter.
Man, 94 was a great year for movies
So beautiful to hear the Chicago Boys praise Clerks!
As they always say, without a good script you will never have a good movie.
Thank you very much for saving this complete episode with ads. It’s our history and the show is great.
It’s our history lol
Imaginary Crimes is a really slept on film! Very underrated!
It is a good movie.
I really enjoyed Bullets over Broadway. Is an elegant but acid comedy mixing art business and gangster thrillers
Is a great movie
I love the technology we have now.
But I miss the 90s in almost every other respect.

Thanks for including the ads.
I love RADIOLAND MURDERS. Still do. I don't care how disappointing it is.
There is absolutely nothing disappointing about that movie. It's one of the few that I consider perfect for what it was.

8:02 Bullets Over Broadway
Imaginary Crimes features great performances but it feels so lightweight, like a Lifetime Original Movie.
I always liked I LIKE IT LIKE THAT. Had it on tape, should've picked up the DVD when it was in print.
Jon Seda, hola papasito.
Alexis Lemme!
Wonder why Silverlake Life wasn't nominated either for a Best Documentary Oscar?
I loved “i like it like that”
Oh yes...subbed.
4 out 5 movies they like, I enjoy BULLETS OVER BROADWAY ⭐⭐⭐⭐
DERRRRRRR
Why would you buy Resolve but not give that kid a fork?

SnackWells? 😭
I remember those!
More like squirtwells.
@@cousineerie9604 why, did it have olestra?
Everyone picks on George Lucas for Howard the Duck, no one picks on Lucas for Radioland Murders
Wasn't as big a failure.
He didn't direct either one, he just produced them
That's because most anyone that's seen radioland murders actually likes it... ebert not withstanding.

if the only justification someone needs to do something is a reason, they're only half a person
Radioland Murders is not that bad. It's got the same tone as Hot Shots! or Naked Gun. Not sure why Roger and Gene were always so harsh on comedies.
I don't know why you say that because they both enjoyed the Hot Shots and Naked Gun films.

@@mjanderson4 That's because Tommy boy and Ace Ventura aren't funny if you are older than 12.
Name a 90s comedy that's funny for people over 12?
@@mjanderson4 maybe some woody Allen comedy?
I like Diane Wiest, but they robbed Jennifer Tilly out of the Oscar for Bullets over Broadway.
No they didn't
