10:28 Stargate-- Ebert shaking his head in dismay before unloading on the entire movie. Another 2-second moment that make up the very best moments of Siskel & Ebert's vintage reviews.
I find those Road to Wellville clips so hilarious. The actors' performances are absolutely perfect. I saw about half of it on TV once and liked it a lot. It truly is a satire on these insane health crazes that are still popping up all the time. I need to watch the whole thing.
I watched Silent Fall for the first time recently and I enjoyed it. Like so many 90s thrillers it's trashy but gonzo enough that I found myself totally entertained. Plus the cast is stacked and the small-town autumn location photography is a treat.
I really like The Last Seduction because like Ebert said: tough, smart & manipulating thriller with great performance by Linda Fiorenrino who holds all the cards 👍🌟🌟🌟🌟. Vantage on 42 street is great original family drama 👍🌟🌟🌟.
Interesting fact Dana Carvey was also in Clean Slate the same year he did The Road to Wellville. For John Cusack he was in Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway also in 1994 when he did that film too.
They were both right on about half the time. Loved the interaction between them. But yes, they were often off point and biased when reviewing certain films
So Armond White was criticizing Ebert for giving movies he liked a good review??? As opposed to what....giving movies he liked a bad review?!?!? What kinda sense would that make??? "Gene I liked this movie a lot, I enjoyed it quite thoroughly, but you know what? Just cause i liked it doesn't mean i can recommend it for other people because my tastes than other peoples' and who am I to say what other people may or may not like???" "Well that's just good criticism right there Rog"
I see what White means. Just because you like a film that doesn't mean it's good. For example, I am nuts about Death Wish 3 even though it's a lousy film.
Ebert’s last quip in the Stargate review is one of the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.
Siskel and Ebert's rage at Silent Fall was so raw and pure that it messed up the VHS tracking!

I really liked stargate. I think the special effects and the story hold up really well.

The Last Seduction and Red Rock West are among the best neo noir films ever made.

My local thrift store sells VHS movies 20 for a dollar. I bought Road to Wellville there, just 'cause. I feel I got my money's worth.
Amazing deal if there’s some rare ones in there
They missed the mark on StarGate.
RIP J.T. Walsh and Bill Nunn.
There ain't no rest for the wicked
the road to Wellsville is great.
Kellogg is probably my favourite Hopkins role.
I remember Ebert dumping on Wise Blood because every character was over the top and yet he gave The Road To Wellville thumbs up.
Ebert seldom liked comedies, but when he did, Siskel didn't like them.
Who told you he didn't like comedies?

There was even Stargate the tv series.
For those who have not seen the last seduction, please go and see it today....GREAT MOVIE!
I liked the Road to Wellville. I also liked Stargate. I feel like I only agree with Ebert 50% of the time and Siskel even less.
They were both right on about half the time. Loved the interaction between them. But yes, they were often off point and biased when reviewing certain films
❤
Wasn’t Ebert’s print review of Road to Welllville much more critical?
3 out of 4 stars. Sounds like what he arrived at here.
“I would’ve rather have been in a health food store.” Gene Siskel

I agree with Siskel on Wellville. I love the story of Kellog but the performance are so hammy and over the top it comes off as ridiculous and unfunny.
One of Hopkins' worst performances.
If you like fat naked men, its great.
Road to Wellville is the worst thing I have ever seen
a movie about going to the bathroom should have been stopped in stage 1
babybird871 lol!!
You should see Human Centipede, Salo, or a Serbian Film. Then get back to us.
@@decodynamo I have seen Human Centipede. I still say it’s the worst. Okay, one of the worst.
@Wallace Cadwallader Footrot I guess that explains why I don’t like it, then. I do enjoy some English humor though, in general.
'Silent Fall' is one of the worst films I've ever seen.
Too much static...bye
IMO, The Last Seduction is ridiculous and annoying.
what a stupid comment on the "road to welliville"
SG-1 was better than the movie.
I thought the movie was good but silly.
As Armond White has pointed out, Ebert was really bad about giving movies a thumbs up if he happened to have liked it (as in The Road to Wellville).

No offense, but this is one of the most pointless comments I have ever read.
