Hot Toys should have probably reissued Armor Test Tony Stark from Iron Man 3 to go with this suit. After all, they put the old version next to the open armor at the promo. Such a missed opportunity to make the diorama complete.
I like your idea but not a reissue. I'd prefer a re-make top to bottom with updated sculpt, body proportions and tailoring. The craftmanship has improved since armor test tony from iron man 3 was made and this would also be a wasted opportunity.

How does the power go thru the base to the armour?
Sorcery.
Seriously, though. You can spot the keys on the base hub, which plug into the bottoms of the boots.
