- Adam and Norm unbox two massive replicas from Lord of the Rings: Sauron and the Witch-King's helmets! These come from Purearts, who make officially licensed art masks of pop culture characters, and we're impressed by the paint finish on these replicas as well as their highly-detailed display stands representing the dark tower of Barad-dûr and Minas Morgul!

Adam, for your sins, go back and rewatch all 3 extended versions.
12 hours later
“A…are you my judge?”
“It’s just that you should be punished.”
“I’m gunna chop off your arm. Are you ready?”
Ha!
😂
I'd highly recommend he audiobook series narrated by Andy Serkis. The pinnacle of audio book performance, the best voice actor in the world, reading one of the greatest stories.
We're so honoured to be featured! Thank you Adam & the entire Tested team :)
I have your resident evil 2 licker bust. Amazing work you guys do. 👍
@@Ashassin1981 Thank you so much!!!
superb work!
Standing ovation Thank you
Thank you for creating such an amazing piece, absolutely gorgeous
Back in 2017 at Silicon Valley Comic Con my son cosplayed as Frodo wearing the orc armor from Return of the King. After the costume contest we met Adam, who seemed confused by the costume. When we told him what it was he said "I haven't seen the second two movies."
I did not know what to say.
I usually don't think of myself as a huge LOTR nerd, as I could never compete in knowledge with most, but when he said Orthanc, I almost screamed out "Minas Morgul!" 😂
You Qualify as a huge LOTR nerd if you know that information. :)
@@silentsnooper3307 Just rewatched all 3 extended. And yes i screamed Minas Morgul.
Minas Morgul was the first one, the Witch King's city. Barad-dûr is the one with the Eye.
Also, Celebrimbor most definitely did NOT help sauron create his armor. Besides his 'Annatar' form, who knows what he really looked like. He could shape shift but i think the armor is just for the movie
@@earendilthemariner5546 he is described as a humanoid figure of pure darkness with the barest of features atop barad dur casting storm cloud all the live long day and night so his legion vast of orc kind can move about without falling to a bad case of sun exposure.
The proportions on that Witch King helmet are stunning. Everything in its place.
It looks to be more accurate than the version made by United Cutlery
Not Orthanc, that was Saruman's lair, Minas Morgul is what that is. And 6:30 that is the Watchers at the gate of Minas Morgul, which are also the same at the tower of Cirith Ungol Sam confronted.
Thanks for the comment.
I was about to put in my own two (nerd) cents.
Sure it's not Barad-dûr? You know, with the EYE and everything.
Every tool is a hammer, every castle is an Orthanc.
Barad-hûr! Yep!
Why trying to explain it in here? Shouldn't they know it before casting it?
Sauron might have the full armor, but the Witch King's helmet is on another level.
Ended up having a fatal flaw though . . .
Absolutely 100% agree, that has always bothered me on why the Witch King's helmet was always soo much more frightening and bad azz than Sauron's helmet. Even with Sauron being enormous and has full armor the Witch King looks much more formidable.
I actually think Sauron’s Helmet is far more cooler 🤷🏻♂️
@VB23 what is it about his helmet you find more appealing, I'm asking because I'm really curious as to why
@@ChatMania487 yeah but just imagine youre deep into a battle and turn too see someone wearing that, id bounce
Watching Adam unpacking something as nice as this is nerve wracking.
He seemed like a kid on Christmas
I would have reacted the exact same way, which makes me completely confident to ask, "how many geeks does it take to open a prop shipping box?"
And both times he unboxed the styrofoam upside down?! I love Adam Savage, but as an actual collector who spends their limited funds on such pieces; it can be somewhat cringe worthy watching him unbox these things. And it's not odd for something to fall to the ground due to his mishandling, but I guess if any damage occurs they can probably fix it.... If they can be bothered to.
I screamed at Adam when he went after the packaging with the blade facing the object! Sometimes his inner child (let’s face it, it’s huge) gets the best of him.
As someone already mentioned, the Witch King base is Minas Morgul which was built near the western mountain side of Mordor. It was previously called Minas Ithil and was the counterpart of Minas Anor which became Minas Tirith. Between them would be the ruined city of Osgiliath.
These two are so different, it's hilarious. Norm has his hands out constantly as if to catch an egg that Adam is sure to drop, and Adam is like a rambunctious kid on Christmas morning, can't rip things open fast enough to get to the next thing.🤣🤣
That Barad-dûr base is excellent. Almost as good as the Weta one, much better than the Danbury Mint version. The Minas Morgûl is fantastic, probably my favourite model for the films.
I like how Adam pretended to not get Norm's slightly off-color joke about China smelling like industrial chemicals, and Norm's recovery :you know, factories." :D
Adam Savage watching LOTR and seeing The Shire: "It's Orthanc!"
Adam Savage watching LOTR and seeing Minas Tirith: "It's Orthanc!"
Adam Savage watching LOTR and seeing Rivendale: "It's Orthanc!"
Adam Savage watching LORT and seeing Orthanc: **crickets**
I'd buy both just for the bases. Minas Morgul and Barad Dur both are very impressive, but the helmets too - such incredible detail.
The base isnt orthanc, the witch king’s base is minas morgul. And the Sauron base is Barad Dur.
Also celebremor did not help make sauron's armor... he helped make the 7, the 9, and he made the 3 elven rings without sauron.
Ah, correct but don't forget the early drafts. Celebrimbor and Sauron made MANY so called "Lesser Rings" before they finally mastered the makings of the 16 main rings together. Only Celebrimbor made the 3 elven rings in secret while Sauron was making the "One" also in secret. The reason the 3 elven rings are still effected by Sauron is because Celebrimbor used the same methods that Sauron taught him. This took years btw. The only rings that truly worked were the 9 rings given to the 9 Kings of Men. Due to Men's nature, unfortunately are highly susceptible to power and greed and they became the Nazgûl over hundreds of years and were at Sauron's bidding forever as long as Sauron lives or when the One Ring is destroyed. The 7 Rings that were given to the Dwarves, did not effect them in the sense to be controlled by Sauron. It only made them more greedy and become more obsessed on finding gold and staying in there mountains. Now for the 3 Elven Rings, was quite different. When Sauron put on the One Ring for the first time, Gil Galad, Círdan, and Galadriel could sense the evil and took them off in time and didn't wear the rings until Sauron was "defeated" in the end of the second age and when the One Ring was lost. Lastly. the ring that Bilbo had, was obviously the One Ring, but Gandalf for a short time thought it was one of the "Lesser Rings" that really have next to nothing or some magical abilities. There were thousands of these "lesser rings" and even more rings that were created by other smiths ages earlier. Gandalf thought it was just one of these other rings, especially when Saruman being the Leader of the Istari, said that the One Ring was forever lost, so Gandalf trusting Saruman didn't think much of it when he found out that Bilbo had a ring. This was one of the few "mistakes" he made assuming that Bilbo's ring was nothing to worry about. Sorry for the long response. lol, but I love sharing LOTR lore.
Sauron was a master crafter of armor as well as rings and so didn't need help making his own armor , and yes celebrimbor made three eleven rings in secret the rest were forged by sauron there were 16 in total if I remember correctly
@@Spartan-oj9dc yes celibrimbor and Sauron made the 16 together.
@@paulmartin6209 And a lot of lesser rings whose fates remain unknown but if they had any power, it would have vanished with the destruction of the one ring.
And the C is pronounced as a K. :)
"OMG the base is Orthanc!" - sprinkles fresh salt in the wounds of a whole host of already displaced Gondorians. 😆
I'M SEEING The Return of the King: Extended Edition IN THEATERS tonight! Two theaters chains here in Los Angeles metro area have created a few screenings throughout this week starting today. Warner Brothers facilitated these screenings in honor of the 20th anniversary of the film's original release. I'm beyond excited.
Wow. Just wow. Love Adam's reactions, I'd have been squealing with excitement in his place. The yelling is perfectly understandable.
this feeling when you open your box containing an amazing props....so addictive...i'm sure Adam is like a 10 yo kids when he opens his boxes....like all of us.
Don’t be shy turn the lights off so we can see the light come through Sauron’s helmet 🥺
I have got lord of the rings crazy lately. Have love the movies but just started listening to the audiobook and listening to a lot of lore stuff too so it’s good to see that you are still crazy about them too.
Thank you soo very much for sharing this video it's absolutely incredible, the details and how they simplified the assembly of everything so genius and without looking cheap or cheesy. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊😊
I am so glad you tried on the mask at the end, was dying to see it on
i went to a marathon of all extended versions at my local showcase cinema last year by myself thats how much i love tolkien's work
Wow, Orthanc 1 was amazing looking, almost as amazing looking as Orthanc 2!
I need these so bad. They are beautiful display pieces.
Love watching you two unboxing!
These cats living a great life.
"Thank you Mario! But our Dark Lord is in another castle!"
this is in so many ways so incredibly awesome, only love for you crazy artists 🎉
Awesome. Didn’t know there wasn’t an eye in the books like the movies until recently.
To use Barad-Dur and Minas Morgul as the bases for these amazing, exceptional helmet replicas is sheer genius. The quality looks great from your footage, and I can only imagine the cost of these works of art. And Adam, The Witch King's helmet looks good on you, scarrrry. Sauron's helmet is creepy to boot.
800 usd is the cost
@@DrN0VA. not as bad as I was expecting
@@operatorlxix5839 its 900 dollars probs does not include shipping and stuff
The detail of the magnetized removable horns for the Witch King helmet!! OHH that is so smart, wow! :D
I really envy your enthusiasm. Your excitement is absolutely contagious. It makes me feel ten-years-old again.
I would love to see the ghostly green light of Minas Morgul on this model. Would be the cherry on top!
there actually is green glow but they just didnt turn it on
Astonishingly good quality masks, love them.
HOLY HELL That's Badass!! Dayum! Orthanc is Saruman's tower FYI. (I know you've probably been corrected many times.) Minas Morgul is the Witch King's tower. and Barad Dur is Sauron's tower. Damn these are fantastic! I'll never be able to afford one, but wow I'm quite impressed! Brilliant use of the towers as the base!
A) these are beautiful
B) think it's time Adam rewatched LOTR lol
C) anybody else wonder whatever happened to the Moby Dick sculpture Adam was working on during Covid? It looked spectacular and very much my alley as a nautical history buff and sculptor
That's baradur with sauron ... also why didn't they put both guards with minas morgal? Other than that absolutely amazing!
"We don't needs it. We don't needs it. We don't needs it. We don't needs it. ... WE NEEDSES IT PRECIOUS!!!" / Smeabob Squaregol
I don't often have * covets aggressively * moments over things shown on Tested, but...
👋🏼🇨🇴🧔🏻👍🏼🤝🏻 Saludos desde Colombia, yo nunca me perdía los "cazadores de mitos", cómo se conocían aquí en Colombia
ORTHANC?! Come on! Card revoked!!! Lol Also the armoured gargoyle is one of the gate watchers at the entrance to Minas Morgul where they "call" to Frodo to come across the threshold instead of ascending the high steps!
Now this was just the biggest joy of my week so far 😊
Giving Adam something that he is interested in to display is one of the smartest moves ever...how can't you love this watching geek out over this? Lol
I own a “wearable” Sauron’s helm myself, although mine is MUCH bigger (and heavier) So cool to see this on my feed!!
I actually remember that gargoyle from one of the films. When Smeagol leads Frodo and Sam to the staircase, Frodo is overcome by the ring and Frodo begins walking towards the gates of Minas Morgul before Sam and Smeagol intervene.
Awesome dude Adam you so wonderful thanks tested team
Oh man...I think I need these. They recently added the Mouth of Sauron as well and it's BAD ASS.
These are everything I wanted after watching the films, well done
Minas Morgul is the Witch King's layer
Orthanc is the name of the tower in Isengard.
Adam.... Barad-dur is Sauron's tower
The Lord of the Rings has some amazing costume design and Sauron and the Witch King were awesome! I love their helmet designs
These look so good!
"Sorry I keep yelling!" lol don't be sorry! Live your excitement, it's awesome!
Wow they look fantastic
I love the child like wonder that Adam still has at his age. It's so fun and refreshing!
Adam: *Pulls out a scale model of Minas Morgul*
Also Adam: "Wow! It's Orthanc!"
It's Barad-dûr ffs if you're gonna nerd out do it right
@@LLPTV its MInus Morgul for the witch king
@@LLPTV Nope, definitely Minas Morgul. Barad-dûr was the second model, and although he did also confuse that one with Orthanc he was skeptical and asked for a fact check. I'm referring to the first model where he was 100% confident that it was Orthanc. Not to mention that the helmet that went with the first model was the Witch King of Angmar, you know, the guy with the *morgul blade?*
I have the United Cutlery Sauron and Witch King helmets. They are massive and heavy!
As gorgeous as they, I would have loved them to have Minas Morgul and Barad-dur as bases!
Amazing! :D
“The Savage Witch King is not real, it can’t hurt you”
SWK: “OMG, it has magnets on the thing!”
10:15 - "And you can look THROUGH it and see the Eye of Sauron, through the NOSE of Sauron!"
Like watching a couple of kids on Christmas morning. I love your excitement
Pure arts made the miniatures for the Kemet board game. There was a website on the bottom of them to go to, and it was literally just one picture and that was it.
Norms body language screams that he wants to be aloud to do alittle bit more of the hands on unboxing but Adam gets to the good pieces first. Like bro, dive in and start on boxing the other part of the mask lol
the mount of saurons helmet the tower with the eye of sauron is called barad-dur
Those are stunning
Ortanc is Isengard, the tower of the Great eye of Sauron is Barad-dûr. The castle of the Witch King is Minas Morgul, used to be called Minas Ithil, an old Gondor fortress.
Ahh man so cool! I can't wait to get one!
The way you handles those man? Damn!!
First base is Minas Morgul and the second is Barad-dur
Thank you Adam & Norm...perfect nerd-fix to start my day....
Absolutely frickin COOL!!!
Next you'll need a great display case for them - something with really great mood lighting.
Can we get those bases in 1/6 scale, I would love it. Or in sections for 1/6 😊. Amazing detail in the bases. Great Content.
I like Sauron's helmet, but I LOVE the Witch King's so much that I ordered one.🎉
Must have made for some oversized castle doors. And look at all those antenna! Great connectivity.
Did the Minas Morgul light up too? I bet if it did it would have some amazing green too it?
If not I can't imagine it being too terribly difficult for Adam to rig it up with lights. Might make a nice one day "build" in fact
Wow! Pretty amazing!
6:30 actually the bridge to Minas Morgul was guarded by two statues of balrog :)
12:23 legend has it that that's exactly what the Witch King asked his orc minions when he first put it on too.
One of my favorite parts of the movie trilogy was the art direction. So great.
My purse did not need me seeing this video.. Those are soooo amazing!
no zoomed out shot of sauron's helm? :(
Love me some Adam and Norm. Those excitable nerds and their absolutely premium grade toy unboxings.
I love Mina's morgul the look of it with the green light to it AWESOME and how it became the Dredd city
the minas morgul and barad dur stands might be the best part about the whole thing
You're so lucky! I'm going to get something like these one day, I swear.
Adam has incited the wrath of all LOTR fans
That aside, these are absolutely incredible.
The base is amazing
Fun fact: one of the Two Towers is in fact a reference to Minas Morgul, which barely appears in the middle film called 'The Two Towers'. :)
Because it isn't one of the 2 towers. The two towers are orthanc and baradur and the enemies saurumon and sauron.
@@weseethetruth158 I read up on it and apparently Tolkien decided to make it Orthanc and Minas Morgul in the end. But he came up with the title long before he decided which Two Towers were the Two Towers (apparently his publisher wanted a name in advance!)
@@TheMAZZTer Correct. "The second part is called THE TWO TOWERS, since the events recounted in it are dominated by ORTHANC, the citadel of Saruman, and the fortress of MINAS MORGUL that guards the secret entrance to Mordor." - JRR Tolkien 1954
@@TheMAZZTer yeah I've actually heard this debate before and since Tolkien changed so much I use the movies as the deciding factor and in the movies saurumon says they two towers orthanc and baradur. Which actually makes more sense in the context because we know the witch king did nothing without the say of sauron.
@@TheMAZZTer especially since minas morgal isn't really a tower so much as a keep with a spire. Whereas orthanc and baradur are literal towers.
I have to say, Adam's urgent style of unboxing always gives me anxiety. However, somehow he manages unbox and assemble without breaking anything. Yeah, he's done this before so many times that even Adam's haste with collectibles can seem endearing.
so we're not going to talk about how smooth Adam unpacked the first box? 😂😂
Absolutely awesome! Such phenomenal pieces! 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
The motherland joke flew right over Adams head like a spy baloon
Adam unboxes an Empire State replica;
"Oh my god, look, it is Orthanc!"
The location for the sauron piece where his tower is is called Barad Dur right?
I was about to be like "THATS MINAS MORGUL" but then he corrected himself 🤣
Amazing! I am jealous now... :)
-Could I be wrong about this being Orthanc?
-Yeas you can Adam. Yes you can... :D
Also all the "superfans" stating that's Minas Morgul are wrong... Minas Morgul is the first post for the Witch King's helmet. Sauron's is Barad-dûr with his eye on the top.
OMG I want these soo much!!!
Can't wait for the Rings of Power set pieces!
