That “it’s me” omg. I know Cynthia can sing her face off but I need the film to have Elphie burst out like that. Shoshana is THE only Elphaba that sings that lyric as “a challenge.” I’d be scared AF if some witch lifted off the ground singing like that lol.
I would argue that THIS is Wicked on Broadway at its prime. Kristen and Idina were part of a project that was lucky to gain success in the first place considering the shows mediocre reviews in the preview stage. And nobody knew what was going to happen after Kristen and Idina left, nobody knew if a standby (no matter how talented she might have been😭😍) promoted to lead would still bring audiences in. And then Sho, along with JLT and then Megan truly showed that the show was not contingent on "big names" to survive, and that it had a place, purely because of its story. The lighting, orchestrations, all were insanely powerful, but I think they got a bit tight with money and decided to make cuts like the orchestra, which have a drastic effect on the power of songs like Defying Gravity and No Good Deed, it's still undeniably magical of a show to watch. But what i'd give to go back in time, see it with all the old effects, the echo on "it's me", the French horns, the percussion and timpani. It's such a shame, because they took something perfect and tried to cut back, as someone who's loved this show for 15 years, It dosent have the same effect it used to, on Broadway at least.
