- The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square present "Worthy Is the Lamb That Was Slain" from "Messiah." Composed by George Frideric Handel.
Episode 4404. February 9, 2014 - Видеоклипы
As a little girl, not yet 3 years old...my life was saved by a kind bystander. He happened to be a young LDS man of Swedish heritage. Harry Licele, rescued me from certain death by drowning. He & his family & my momma & daddy & this grateful soul are bound as friends in Christ, Jesus forever. When thanked for his heroic kindness, his answer was..".as mormon, a son of God & follower of our Savior, Christ~Jesus, it was my honor". I still have the last birthday card he & his wife Eva sent me. I am 79, now...by God's Grace & Harry's faith.
What a lovely story! Thank you for sharing your story with me!
Very Heart warming.
I think in the age where Christian musicians are trying to act look like rock stars in country singers is refreshing to hear and see denomination both in their music and their appearance show True reverence and love for our creator
How I agree with this person…. We are trying to put pop people into churches ….. it’s an abhorrent to me ….. love love love this great great choir ❤
As true disciples of Jesus Christ our lifestyle should always be totally opposite of the world, especially our music.
I respect the honor that is given to the music here by this choir.
This is the Amen to the Resurrection... The event in all of history that changes everything forever.... I expect to hear God's Angels singing this when I get to heaven. AMEN!
amen
Amen
I think this whole Messiah was inspired by all the angels of heaven and placed in the mind of George Frederick Handel.
I am not religious but this piece of music never ceases to move me. A true testament to the wonderful composing of Handel and to the great musicians performing. Thank you for this performance!
You may not be religious but you are faithful. That is what moves you. Merry Christmas.
I sang this with an orchestra. It is so hard to sing and not weep. Heavenly voices inspired
This is outstanding 👏 👌 . This has made me so elated .July 2023 ..Cool Saturday morning in my country Accra Ghana 🇬🇭..He truly is worthy 🙏
If you can't have a testimony of the scriptures and of others' about Christ existence, try by listening and watching this, you will move a step 🚶♂️ in your spiritual knowledge
It is this type of song St. Paul says he who sings well prays twice. What a beautiful voices combined.
I had the great opportunity to perform The Messiah with my high school's A Capella and Concert Choirs singing the choruses, guest soloists from the local community and University, and our valley's symphony orchestra. It is an absolutely amazing work - G.F. Handel was clearly directed by God in his scoring and in his choice of Holy Scripture for his text!
I recall being utterly and
completely ( but joyously!) drained at the end. I believed in God, the Father, and in Jesus Christ before learning this incredible music, but after all if our preparation and our performance, my faith rose to a whole new level!
I express to you my faith - no, my surety that The Messiah, even my Savior, Christ the Lord, truly is the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords - that he Lived, that he suffered for my sins, your sins, and the sins of all those who ever lived or will live on the Earth, that he was slain, Rose from the grave, and lives even now! I know this even more surely than if I had seen it for myself, through the power of the Holy Spirit, who testifies of all truth - and if you do not know this for yourself, you can Know! You must ask God the Father, in the name of Christ - He will answer you, if you truly ask in faith, with a real desire to receive an answer! This I Promise you, in the name of The Messiah, even Jesus Christ, amen!
Handel’s Messiah will always be an amazing masterpiece
This video helps me feel the solemn JOY of Easter. Thanks to our Heavenly Father for sending His Son Jesus Christ to earth. And thanks to our Savior for being willing to do everything He did for us.
I also sang the Messiah. It was a magical moment for me and whenever I hear that final chorus, the beautiful memories come flooding back.
I don't care what faith you are, if you can't listen to this music and be moved by it, be touched or inspired by it....there's something wrong. In its own way it is a perfect rendition of the piece that Handel composed in times past (1700s)...which is divinely inspired. Splendid.
Danke super Zugaben bitte
Ellen Trumpler pZahh
almost perfect except for the trumpet fart at 6:30
¡Amén!
A very wonderful rendition Always superbly done, Ialways love it, thanks guys...
Our church choir sang this at the new organ dedication. Awesome! I was in the choir. It was wonderful to get to sing it!
This ending is divine; I think the silence before the final Amen is one of the most beautiful and effective silences in all music. Goes to show how powerful Handel's writing is - even his silences are incredible
123Apollo321 i think that is one of the most beautiful comments ive ever seen. it made me weep
The last stanzas of GF Handel songs are all adagio....very exceptional ....
“YES”!!!...............”AMEN”!!!..................
Just after the silence in the Hallelujah chorus
Worthy is the Lamb that was slain by the Altos
As beautiful and inspiring as this music is....I had a dream where the music I heard was beyond this world. It was a blessing so be comforted my BRETHREN, there is music in Heaven that will consume and convict ones soul that GOD has much for those who love HIM! As I was awakening from this beautiful dream I could still HEAR this music. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Blessing in Jesus I pray for all.
I have sung "Messiah" many times but I only ever listen to the Tab sing it! That last high note by the sopranos at the end of the "Amen" was like one voice...just perfect. The articulation was so wondrously clear. I am tucking this away to listen to again and again.
There is a special place in Heaven for Frideric Handel
Worthy is the lamb Jesus Christ receive all glory and honour because you died for us. Thank you Jesus for saving from sin. I thank you daily for your mercy.
I can't stop listening to these heavenly vocals. I'm soothed and tranquilized by the tabernacle voices. Thank you for the great work
probably the greatest Amen" ever penned. Always thrilling.
Oh yes!
I can only imagine hearing this live and in the Tabernacle! My heart would probably explode!!
God bless, "Mormon Tabernacle Choir" in Jesus name!
Just simply magnificent! Can you imagine the impact and gravity of the first performance of this work back in the 1700's?!
My favorite part of singing the Messiah is the "Amen Chorus".
We usually end our services with a short Amen song. I sometimes wish we could sing THIS amen.
When I was a teenager, our very enthusiastic choir leader and very courageous organist assisted our rag-tag volunteer church choir in learning and performing this piece. I'm so grateful to them for giving me this music to keep always: it is still echoing through my mind and ringing through my heart all these years later.
Yes, I learned the Messiah, including this great number when I was a teen about 50 years ago. I have a life long appreciation for Handel.
Concordo!
I am waiting to sing this song with the saints in Heaven
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love. that we may sing for joy and be glad all of our days.psalm 90: 14 Jesus is the only one who was and is and always will be worthy.
Such love, such wondrous love. beautiful song beautifully sung by beautiful voices.
This is absolutely the perfect therapy for me at this time of isolation, panic and uncertainty.
Singing within from the hearts and the Spirit of Promise is always there to testify that those songs are songs of the hearts. Feels Heaven is there with voices of angels. I will always cherished this beautiful Choir always.
I needed to hear this when I heard that this choir (Mormon) performed this exact piece at the Chicago World’s Fair in the 1890’s. What a legacy. Hallelujah, indeed!
I've listened to the Tabernacle Choir my entire life, always being uplifted and usually brought to tears of gratitude and joy for these precious brothers and sisters who give so tirelessly of their not inconsiderable talent. This is one of the perfect gifts during this blessed Easter Season, especially during this extremely difficult year when the world is plagued by COVID-19. What joy to know with perfect understanding, that the Lord God Omnipotent stands ready to bear us up because of his ultimately, eternal sacrifice for all his children.
Oh! To be somewhere near the organ console, to hear all those voices belting out these last parts of the Messiah. What a thrill that would be. I'm sure this will be sung regularly on the other side, with angels participating and hearts bursting with happiness and joy.
one day this song will be sung in heaven
It is being sung already; everyday. (Revelation 5)
And I hope we can sing it together brother in Christ!
Sung by all the heavenly host.
Amen
amen
Magnificent! Very close to what we'll experience around the Throne....for those how know Jesus personally. Praise His Name!
AMEN!
Really this music is touching
Amen
Amen
Amen
God bless Handel...His legacy lives
Worthy is the lamb that was slayn
And has redeemed us to God
By his blood
To recieve power and witness and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing
Worthy is the lamb that was slayn and has redeemed us to God, to God by his blood
To receive power and richness and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessings
Blessings and honor, glory, power be unto him, be unto him that siteth upon the throne and unto the lamb
Forever and ever, forever and ever, for ever and ever, that siteth upon the throne and unto the lamb
Blessings and honor, glory and power be unto him,
Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto him forever
Blessings, honor, glory and power be unto him
That siteth upon the throne and unto the throne
And unto the lamb
Forever, forever forever forever and ever forever and ever, forever and ever, forever and ever
Forever, for ever and ever
For ever and ever.
Amen!
Amen and Amen
This is perfection... The Handel's Messiah is simply a blessing to man.
The days of Brigham are long gone but his legacy remains in this movement well done
Just cannot get tired of listening to this moving music. How to managed this massive choir and still maintain such angelic blended voices is miraculous.
Indeed he's worthy... To receive power, riches, wisdom....
Worthy to sit upon the throne
Magnificent. A choral trilogy. "Whorty is the Lamb", a majestic prelude, "Blessing and honor", a triumphant fugue and "Amen", a sublime fugue ... the subject is divided, subdivided, inverted, enriched with counter-subjects and subordinated to many ingenious and latent purposes of harmony, melody and imitation.
It's amazing that it was all composed in such a SHORT TIME!!!
WONDERFUL CHORAL SND ORCHESTRA!!! BEAUTIFUL PRAISE TO GOD!!!
This Amen & the Allelujah by the Messiah are the best musical strenght ever created. Chapeau to Mormons Chorus!
I sang in a symphony choir and handel's messiah was a tremendous challenge for all, but by this point into it, the last 2 songs, i was SO emotional. I did the high amen note( right near the end) by myself that time, and my heart felt like it would burst from how close i was to God at that moment
What a day it will be when we join the Angels in Heaven ,praising God the Father ,the beginning and the end , forever and ever🙏
An exceptionally talented tenor voice. Soars on high octaves with ease. Wonderful to the ear.
I'm telling you. Bravo to them
Woooow. I love this... I sing it every morning... While the birds and the coks are singing in the morning.... In the bedroom you ear far Voices.
And the echo is amazing... This is in heaven...
I feel like God has talked to my soul and I can't imagine how is gonna be when I see my lord 👑
Praise the Lord for such a great piece of music and performance 🙏😃
This song will be sang by even those who pierced HIM in heaven! Wonderful.
The most beautiful music on earth, God bless all!!
Who is listening today on good Friday?
Another good Friday is here
This is truly the Lords choir. Each member is dedicated to singing to the Lord and to God. They are so inspiring. How can anyone deny the Spirit that is felt when the Tabernacle Choir sings. I can’t think of any other choir in this world that’s sings so magnificent and praiseworthy. this music testifies of the divinity Jesus Christ and brings joy to man.
True enough, the good ol'
MTC doesn't take a back seat to any other music group!
Wow, this made me cry, is soooooo Deep, Touching, and Powerful! 🙏
I love this song it feels one is already before the throne of God.
Sincerely speaking this music reminds me and emphasizes that Jesus Christ is the gate, He is the way, He is the truth, and He is the light and life of all mankind! May God bless all who are here enjoying this music, and those not here that may be struggling to find Him. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.....JUST believe in HIM....just whisper now "LORD JESUS CHRIST HELP ME"
Praise be to God
I love it
May God continue to bless you all in Jesus name 🙏

What's really impressive about this is how such a huge choir can sound so agile and sing with such clarity of line - close your eyes and it sounds like a top class chamber choir.
Ratty Woof
Excellent point for those pedants in the “originalist” camp.
I love this songs.I've loved to sing to the most high God.
This music stirs one emotionally. It has the power to encompass one's soul and proclaim the glory of God
He alone is worthy to be worshiped. One day in heaven, we shall all gather before Him, amen
I feel like i captured angels singing in heaven by my own camera
The finest choir in the world..
Ever since I become a member, this is the song I loved to hear the tabernacvle choir sings, spiritual.
If I should ever get there, I know my spiritual body will be able to bear the heavenly sounds. But this music is overwhelming to my physical body. Glory to God in the highest.
thank you Mac Wilberg and the tabernacle choir and orchestra for this beautiful rendition of Handel's messiah finale. Hard to express in words the feeling of it all.
Truly amazing. I listen to the entire collection many times during the year, not just at the holidays. The message is beautiful, the music outstanding. Thank God for allowing us to have this beautiful message by music.
I bet that even the angels fold their wings when they listen to this. I get transported.

and worthy is the man that shared this perfomance...bravo maestro
Incredible display of dynamics, especially for a choir of this size. MO-TAB does a phenomonal job of sharing the spirit of our Savior with their music. A huge thank you to Mr. Handel for allowing God to direct his hand in the composing of the Messiah.
NobleGriz MO-TAB!! 😆😎❤️
NobleGriz Beautiful comment
Brings me to tears every time! Alleuia! Praise Jesus!
This is awesome
We sang a few pieces of The Messiah when I was in high school some 50 years ago. It is quite difficult to sing (and for teenagers?) but we were a very good choir. Our instructor later transferred and was the music director at Brigham Young University. I still remember the words of the beautiful songs. It was hard but so worth the effort. Thank you Mr Handel.
MAGNIFY THE LORD JESUS....
April 19th, 2018. Today. The last day of the last 70 year period of Jubilee, after 5778 years: Independance Day for Israel. God is definitely in control, and soon, in the twinkling of an eye, we WILL all be changed.
When the top soprano line come in on the A minor, near the end of the Amen chorus, I always fall apart in this great music.
Have same feelings as well.
shivers go down my body almost everytime that note comes
Just beautiful....love it to death.
Praise God.
I missed singing with my choir... music of the soul
Absolutely glorious! I have sung this many times in various choirs in Australia, and would love to have had the opportunity to sing it with your great choir in Temple Square. Alas, at approaching 90 years of age, it is rather too late for that. But I will continue to enjoy, most evenings, the great choral classics you present so beautifully.
Wish I could attend this church .heaven
You could talk to some missionaries from this church at comeuntochrist.org they could help you learn more about Jesus Christ and be able to help you attend this church. They are super nice and welcoming and would love to answer any questions you may have.
The feelings this brings to me is just beyond words. Thanks to all these dedicated people that give of their time and talent to bless others. Music just transcends any cultural/language barrier. Thank you again.
Divine I remember listening to this with lovely mum, hallelujah
This has always been one of my favorite numbers within the Oratorio. I learned it when I was a teen, nearly 50 years ago. It remains a song of power and affirmation. Nobody does it like the MoTab.
This is what Heaven will sound like.
Wonderful pieces of choir....God bless you all...
the most beautiful voices i have ever heard
