    Upgrade = modification. Discuss.
    The bung is for the seatpost, so when fully folded on public transport, it acts as a friction grip to limit unwanted movement.
    The difference in Eazy wheel price comes down to bolt size (IMO). The £25 set uses a 6mm bolt for the ‘ears’ on the rear triangle. The £11 set uses a 5mm bolt for the rear rack.
    I have 4x Eazy wheels (bought from eBay) on my 2012 H6R.

    • @TheBromptonGuy
      @TheBromptonGuy  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah I get the bung is for the seat tube but why come with the 6mm eazy wheels only 🤷🏻‍♂️ and why wold swapping wheels randomly need you to have a bung that you prob already have.
      The Advance Roller rack needs the 6mm wheels also and the 5mm is for anything pre 2016

    I got some of them 3 spoke ones 😂 put them on and the bike tilted to the side when folded so I swapped them back
    Glad now because my feed catch the wheels all day. Cant believe the newer more expensive ones are actually less advanced 😂 mad

    I used inline skate wheels, the roll the best, and are quite.. Ii have them on all three Bromptons that I have. I don’t care a bout the weigh because I can roll it. Plus, I’m fat and carry lots of camera gear. To me the bike is for transports .

    Thats crazy. First thing I did was replacing the stock c-wheels. i took the risk using aftermarket wheels as the prices from brompton are a joke. It such a missed opportunity they won’t fit the bearinged wheels by default: If I go to the shop and check for a brompton, try out the folding and the trolley-mode, I would feel its a useless gimmick. If the bike folded is not more practical, customer could just go with a dahon or tern for half the price.

    • @TheBromptonGuy
      @TheBromptonGuy  6 месяцев назад +2

      Completely agree!! Why the bearings one aren't stock on a c line blows my mind. It's like "We have a better wheel but going to give you this useless one instead so you change it yourself"

    When I bought my Top Superlight in 2019 I found the original small wheels useless on anything but a totally flat area. And I bought two models titanium carriers. Which I have never added, as I prefer my Chinese T-bag in front, which may be removed when not in use, unlike a carrier (As a now Pensioner I mostly use my, for now 8,5 kilo bike for leasure). For now I use 10 cm Chinese wheels which make my bike a "Tank" when folded, and a lightweight wheel extender with a carbon tube in the middle for less weight! As the late Colin Chapman stated: "Weight is the enemy"!
    By the the way I still think I have a lifetime lease of a square foot of land on Skye, and may collect some rent if I come by? If I'm able to find my Certificate! Finn. Denmark

    • @TheBromptonGuy
      @TheBromptonGuy  6 месяцев назад

      Mate the land in Skye is a proper premium! Always wanted to live there but unfortunately don't make anywhere near enough to move there but yeah you should certainly find that Certificate!! could be a little gold mine. With the wheel extended does you foot not hit it on the pedal down stroke? Still jealous of the 2019 super light 🤪

      @@TheBromptonGuy As a former Racing bike and serious (by that, expensive!) MTB rider I'm used to have my feet fixed in bike shoes with clamps on my pedals (My latest and hyper expensive LOOK Pedals sadly couldn't be serviced (no proper tool to find for unscrewing the special plastic nut on their axles!) so I had to - downgrade to a set of the Top Shimano XTR! By the way LOOK has now come back to SPD, after using a by that very well functioning special square plate). So I honestly haven't got problems with having my heels operate free of the wheels! I hope to reach - 8 kilo soon for my 2019 Brompton, with mudguards! 😄 Finn. Denmark

      And I have no problems with Mice, Water or Gravel coming in through the new, strange "holes" by the hinges on a T-line. I would have loved the easy exchangeable bolts in those, if they actually functions for their purpose, which I'm not so sure about? Finn. Denmark

    I can't really top the Oxelo 63mm / 82A Inline Skating Wheels with Bearings; the cost of the 4-Pack has inflated to a whopping £6.99. They're heavy, really too heavy, but they roll the best (they're meant for rollerblades) because of materials and their excessive width. I roll a lot so they need to be tough like that. I have to kind of take the weight hit, but I'm always on the prowl for any lighter option...

    • @TheBromptonGuy
      @TheBromptonGuy  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah my main thought was about what good skateboard or roller blade options already exist but sounds like you've already started the home work. Going to do some further digging myself but will for sure always be heavier than the brompton options

    I wonder... could you replace the bushing of the Advance Wheels with the bearings that fit the Eazy Wheels?

    • @TheBromptonGuy
      @TheBromptonGuy  Месяц назад

      Unfortunately not, the hole size on the advance wheel is way to small.

  • @froh_do4431
    @froh_do4431 3 месяца назад

    I do not like the advance roller wheel compared to the eazy wheels too. That is why I bought some bearings and a smaller metal sleeve to replace the existing sleeve of the advance roller wheel. I probably have to glue the bearings to the wheel since it has some room between it, but I try it first without any glue. If you wonder, the measurements of the sleeve is 6x10x14mm (inner diameter x outer diameter x length). I'm excited to try it and hope the advance roller wheels will roll smoother

      @@TheBromptonGuy it works really well and it does roll better with bearrings installed :) But tighten the screws need some locktight/screw-glue. I do not figure out how to tighten it properly like with the metal tubes, which came originally

    the new rack is less stable, the new roller wheels are worse rolling, they are not protective of the rack in case of shocks, and (I believe) they are also heavier.
    The rear rack is a bad Brompton update overall, I am not sure why they did it, probably because of the new seatpost blocking mechanism.

    • @TheBromptonGuy
      @TheBromptonGuy  6 месяцев назад +1

      I got the rear rack cause I don't like carrying bags on the front of the bike and it carries my bag brilliantly on the back while making weight distribution more even. It also does make it so much easier to roll to work rather than carry. Even the P line is heavy when you have anything over a 5min walk. Overall I honestly have little faults with the rack and how I use it however I've never used the old design so can't compare 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @anonymusmester
      @anonymusmester 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@TheBromptonGuy I agree, the rack is very useful especially with the easy wheels. I also appreciate that it protects your trousers when carrying the folded bike.
