Good content Paul. I went through the SRRV process at JRC in Dumaguete. They were professional throughout the process and answered inquiries quickly. Although the process could be faster, it was slower in Manila , not JRC. Thanks Kim at JRC for all your help. One oddity of the SRRV is that you have to inform SRRV before departure and upon return when you travel internationally. This can be done online but is inconvenient. One thing that JRC must implement is the ability for people to pay them by card. It would definitely expedite the payment time and lessons the need to deal with cash, especially when one is paying thousands of foreign currency.
I signed up for the JRC email newsletter a long time ago. It is a great resource that I learned from when Pea had JR on her channel. It is important to have professionals on your team...JRC, an independent lawyer, and maybe an accountant. It will make your life much more relaxing and stress-free when living abroad.
I got my SRRV 3 weeks ago in Makati. I don't regret the 6-week wait. The staff walked me through it like the baby I am. Now I can legally open up a bank account by myself in the Philippines, and not have to worry about registering for the tourist visa. Just renue my SRRV card before it expires, and pay the yearly srrv fee.
I just discovered your page. I watched an episode of Vagabond Awakes interview with you. Your's is an interesting biography. I then caught this interview you held with this beautiful young woman. What a breath of fresh air she is. Good luck in your future and with your nuptials. It sure seems you're on a good course.
I am here in Cebu City. My family and I have used JRC for numerous things...most recently my son's dual citizenship and, currently, my permanent 13a. Very professional and efficient...and JR is a good guy.
I used JRC for the first 2 years here and they will come to your residence to pickup and deliver your passport back to you. It saves you a lot of time and the hassle of going to the immigration office. They will answer any of your questions. Good interview. Thanks, Paul
Outstanding interview by both Paul and JR. My takeaways: the visa process is complex, and the rules are subject to change! I would hire a good consultant like JR in a nanosecond.
Oh good, I want to hear this one. I contacted a Visa consultant who appeared on TheFilipinaPea. I emailed this consultant several times and never got back to me. If I fired up my laptop I could find my copy of sent emails to reveal which consultancy group it was, but I can't be bothered. Thank you Paul for this video. ACR card is good proof of senior citizen for discounts. When going to immigration, bring your own pen. If you want to have some fun, use a flourescent pen, it won't photocopy. Just sayin
One other visa foreigners can get is a balik-bayan visa when traveling with your asawa to the Philippines. It's a 1 year visa. I hope to meet JR when I visit Cebu next year?
It appears that the SSRV visa route may be best for me...even if plans for my stay in the PI may or may not be long term....definitely a lot less headaches and other hoops to jump through. I agree using a service makes sense as they know the paperwork and system and can get things done quicker than doing it yourself. In addition, they are responsible if something was submitted incorrectly or if there are issues with the paperwork. I have about 3 years to go before I may retire in the PI, so I need to get educated now so I am ready when the time comes. Thanks for sharing this vital information.
Philippine Retirement Authority pays accredited Marketers a cut from application costs. Applicant need not pay fees to agencies to obtain SRRV visa assistance. A TIP for good service may be in order. I paid 100$ tip in addition to the actual hard costs to obtain SRRV.
I used to think that, but the issue is the lump sum deposit - specifically where you have to put it, and how you get it back (if ever). The Thai system is better - you can put it any Thai bank account and then show proof of deposit - simple and you get your choice of bank. I'm very wary of transferring lump sums to some account I don't have control over. Personally I'd use the tourist visa/renew approach, but I think at some point they'll stop that. But like you say, research is the key.
Most of ys can qualify for the $10,000. However, a more flexible option is to use the visior extension process. I just extended mine for 2 months and it cost $50 USD (so$25/month)which is not bad. @@SirMountainpass
Paul, you kept saying a small service charge. It would have been cool, to have gotten basic prices. My experience with these cats to check if I was clean and not on a balcklist or whatever. It cost me 7,000 + pesos. The cost to them in Manila to get the transcript from the BI office was a little over 500 pesos. So, the service charge was 6,500 pesos. Ouch...not a small fee.
Paul - this was very good info and very helpful. I will be contacting JRC to verify s few details on the Military side of the Visa. The things you pointed out that JR did not are also a game changer for us foreigners - hehe. Stay Cool Old Dog and we are watching for the next New Trick !!!
Two points to make….if one already in the Philippines, he or she will not get the 13A spousal visa but only the 13A probationary visa, obtaining the spousal only a year later. The other point is that some services are now available online such as tourist visa waiver, ECC- B, tourist visa extension and annual report after registration.
Hi Paul, my wife & I truly enjoy ur vlog. You always seem to stay impartial on things & give positive input on life there. We are baffled at how some expats claim to leave the states bc of all the stress & drama for a stress free life there. But maybe they just have too much time on their hands being retired that they cant help but get caught up in the CHISMAS. We keep our circle small & enjoy each day in paradise there, after all thats what retirement is for. It's mind blowing how 1 vlogger is attacking another there, claiming to be EXPOSING the fraud. Frankly, who cares what someone else has in their past, unless the are a child molester & coming there to pray on the innocent. Enjoy each day as the gift it is in the most beautiful place on earth. But maybe the old saying, " you cant run from yourself " rings true in this case. Meaning the people talking about people there were most likely doing that in their life in the states & old habits are hard to break. Again, thank u for always giving the honest , upbeat view on life there.
A great and informative interview Paul. Thanks very much. I was expecting a very formal, stiff collar type of thing. But it was informal, jovial and a pleasure to watch. Thank you both.
Great information. Planning on retiring to the PI and periodically returning to the USA to check on family members that are up in age. I've emailed JRC and hope to meet with a representative when I'm in Imus Cavite, Manila, in December of this year. Thanks for the guidance.
I'm currently on my extension for 6 months, I don't renew till January 18th of 2024.. I am looking at starting my 13A soon, me and my wife was told it could be a year to receive our PSA marriage certificate... we have the other marriage certificate with the stamp... it's true about the Philippines, many forms and lots of paperwork lol , I been thru all that/ and my ACR card will be ready on the 5th of September
Great interview Paul! Wish I knew about them when I had to extend my visa recently. Will use JRC next time. And nice to finally meet up with you, Mae, and Tada :) See you in December.
Paul, I found this on the Internet..ECC-B (Exit Clearance) and how to get it.. The B is for people who have stayed for less than 6 months and plan to return. The ECC-B A is for those who have stayed 6 months or more. One needs to apply 3 days prior to departure. ECC-B may be secured at the BI Main Office or in the airport upon departure. Fill up the ECC Application form. Note that the form requires you to attach a 2×2 colored photograph with a white background taken within the last three (3) months. Present your passport and ACR I-Card. On many postings, it does say you can get it at the airport on the day of departure.
The ECC is only required if one extends his tourist visa past 6 months of stay. The ECC-B is required by anyone in possession of ACR-I card who wishes to re-enter the country as it keeps the 13A active and has a return authorisation whilst the ECC-A is for those leaving the Philippines permanently…
Just wrote to JR based on this interview. I'm moving into a condo in IT Park tomorrow. I hope to come over to finally meet you and Mae, Paul. Take it slow, daddy-o.
JR, please use a utility knife to cut the tape around the receptacle. Spackle on a bit of joint compound, wait to dry, and then sand. Might spend an hour sanding the wall also. 🫣 Otherwise thank you for sharing your knowledge 😀a bit of biz advice for what it’s worth. Details matter to those you are targeting to serve in regards to their stay in the Philippines.
I agree, it drives me nuts! However they don't do things the right way here, only the most expedient way. They just don't care about optics regardless of target customers.
To understand J.R. clearly, go to settings and set playback speed to .75, Paul sounds a little slow, but J.R. sounds slowed down and quite understandable.
JR and his company are the real deal! His company has helped me through my ACR card and SRRV Visa. Since then, I have not stepped into a BIR office. I've continued to use this services to deal with any visa issues. I know He's being polite and respectful, but he should mention how affordable his services are... It's not the same for foreigners who are used to being fleeced in our native countries! He makes it easy and very affordable. Highly recommended😊!
Another great video Paul and very informative. I plan to retire there in the future and this service will certainly help and take the edge off the process. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Very informative Paul and perfect timing for me. I’m leaving in a month and I had read that you only needed to apply for the exit clearance two weeks before leaving, apparently that wouldn’t have gone well😂
@paulinthephilippinesolddog9234 I own an affordable (licensed and bonded) immigration service in So. Cal. Any need for American immigration services for your viewers?
Paul great video as always! I understand all that you discussed but I have a question concerning the SRRV deposit? For example, SRRV Classic, no pension: does the $20,000 have to be kept in a Filipino Bank maintaining a $20,000 balance. What can you do with the Funds in the Filipino Bank? Do you pay monthly bills? Using the example concerning the Toyota you bought? If you were an American with a SRRV Classic, no pension and have $20,000 in the Filipino Bank. You want to buy a Toyota Wigo for $11,000. If you pay cash for the car and now the Bank Account has a balance of $9,000. Do you have to put a deposit of $11,000 back in the account to keep the Filipino Bank Balance at $20,000? What are the possibilities of the SRRV Deposit Funds? From what I have read this evening, it seems that the deposit of $20,000 for example, must stay in the account unless you invest it in a purchase of Real Estate with a value of at least $50,000. The only other possible use of the funds is for a Medical Emergency. For the Medical Emergency one, do you have to bring the Bank Balance back up to $20,000? Paul, you could just have a video on how the SRRV Deposits are handled in real life situations. The $20,000 and $10,000 being the most important. Side Note: We appreciate how much you serve the Expaits there in Dumaguete and Abroad! I expect to be one there in Dumaguete City at the First of the Year. I visited the Diago Family twice there 50 years.ago Jim Vernon Sorrento, FL
For what little I know, the PRA will give the applicant a choice of accredited banks (about 4) and a presentation letter stating that the account will be opened to the purpose of getting an SRRV. The account will not be to the applicant’s name but to PRA. What you got to do is to open the account with a minimum amount of dollars then instruct your bank back to your country of origin to wire either $20,000 or $10,000 (depending on if you get proof of in benefit of a regular monthly income (pension) of at least $800) into the newly opened PRA bank account. Very important is for you to obtain at least 2 copies of proof that the money originated from abroad. PRA will instruct you to deposit the application fee of $1,400 into a separate PRA account plus all other fees. Inform PRA about your will/testament so that if the worst happens they will add the money to your estate. Inform PRA of any future address change. You probably are aware of the medical examination and all other requirements upon applying…..
Will JRC help in opening a bank account? It sounds like we had to wait a few months to open the account. Do you have to open the account before applying for a SRRV?
I left the Philippines approximately 6 months ago I was able to get my exit clearance from the Manila airport they do have a immigration office you can get done the same day but it is something that I would double check I hate to be responsible for somebody missing their flight. Very low cost. i belive it was under ten dollers
Excellent video Paul. You and JR briefly discussed the visa differences/benefits when it came to a US veteran. Are these also offered to veterans from any country or just US? Interested from a UK perspective. Thanks again.
You might want to contact JR. From what I understand about it, it was created for US veterans, but it has been applied to other countries as well. But don't quote me on that, it is best to talk to JR.
One thing I missed. When you first go there, do you need to show a return ticket if you're planning on staying long term? I don't know if I missed that but don't recall hearing anything about it.
@@drewb9579 Now with that being said, can I pay for unlimited entries or exits at that time, or do I have to do that other stamp thing they were talking about before I leave.I forgot what they called it. Where you have to be fingerprinted before you leave the country??
@@ziggarillo 20-year visa with expedited services. Zero Immigration hassles, fast track thru Customs, and the list goes on and on. Importing personal items a non-factor vs. Philippines. No comparison really ...
@@stevemorrisanamericaninasiaAs I thought not as good as an SSRV, The SSRV is not limited to 20yrs, you only need to check in once a year, not every 90 days and of course has all the benefits you mentioned.
@@commonsenseisntcommon1776 Not really - as you must spread initial cost over 20 years. No additional fees once the $26k USD is paid. Airport transport included, fast track thru Customs, zero Immigration hassles, and all manner of additional benefits. Plus, living standard options much more upmarket, no brown-outs, better food, and of course additional benefits as with the Philippines. Alot less hassle. Comes down to preference - Thailand for me ...
Paul, great interview, taking notes. Question: they need 3-4weeks notice for exit clearance - so what if you have an unexpected emergency and have to leave quickly? (family in US or medical, etc.) This is a real concern. Wish you had asked. Do you know how to deal w this?
For what it's worth I do think it's worth the fee for such a consultant. I've learned from experience that there is often great disparity between what is on the immigration website and what applies on the ground (and even the interpretation on the ground). Also, there are cultural issues, and someone like JR can "grease the wheels" so to speak, as a known "face" to the authorities. I'm primarily UK based, and use tourist visas, but these days if I needed to extend or otherwise deal with immigration I'd use a consultant. Worth every penny IMHO.
It's good to see ya again, Paul. I'm a 'crazy people' because I am this close > < to going to Cebu to ask my gorgeous, competent pinay to marry me, so this video should be a great help. 60 days would be great! [damn politicians] 4 weeks to process ECC? [I'm getting a headache] 13A if I am married. HMM! ACR card is for permanent residents. How permanent? You're lookin good there, Paul. Thanks for the info. I'm going to take an aspirin now. 🤔
Sharing our experience when my husband arrived here he is on tourist visa because we are not married that time.On his 2nd day here we went to BI Manila because he wanted to stay long and ask what we can apply, the BI said he should extend 1month he got it and the same day we ask the BI guy what should we do after this because 2months is not long enough he said we should be back before the expiration but I said we lived far in Bicol so he said try to apply for 6months extension so we got it. After we get married we go back to apply for 13a probitionary he got 1yr then just recently I applied him 13A immigrant by Marriage. In the whole process we spend only around 23,0000.00peso. FYI;to apply 13a need a NBI CLEARANCE & passport

If you have an ARC-I card and permanent residence you can get exit clearance at the airport. An ECC-B clearance as opposed to ECC-A.

Great informational video answers a lot of questions
I left the Philippines approximately 6 months ago I was able to get my exit clearance from the Manila airport they do have a immigration office you can get done the same day but it is something that I would double check I hate to be responsible for somebody missing their flight. Very low cost. i belive it was under ten dollers
Your videos are nice but can we look into getting a better microphone? The sound quality for voice has some echo issue.
Wow, excellent information, Paul! Thank you for sharing this interview.
Exactly what i need Paul! Thanks!😊
Is there an equivalent service like JRC that serves the Bulakan area?
Bureaucracy drives me nuts! Just can’t wait for AI to work this all out for me.
I did my entire 13A visa process through JRC (probationary and permanent) with JRC. I can't recommend them enough!
How much was the cost
Excellent vid sir.
Great interview
Great job brother do they have a JRC in Manila
It would be grand if Philippines Immigration offered an Elite visa program similar to what exist in Thailand.
Good information Paul as thank you.
How is that different from an SSRV?
The SSRV Looks better to me.
Absolutely Great Video Paul!
Paul, great interview, taking notes. Question: they need 3-4weeks notice for exit clearance - so what if you have an unexpected emergency and have to leave quickly? (family in US or medical, etc.) This is a real concern. Wish you had asked. Do you know how to deal w this?
you can get an exit clearance at immigration at the airport
You will pay an express fee for airport clearance. Don't know how much the express fee is though
Can you explain to me about
Hereditary Succession???
Mr. David Damaso
I don't know, but you can email jrc
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it's really helpful! Best wishes to you and your husband. 🙏 ~Mike H.
@@musicfromtheheart100 welcome . Happy to answer questions about visa. Cheers
@@leizelmcmullinThank you, that's very kind of you. Do you or your husband happen to have a RUclips channel where you upload videos about life in the Philippines that I could check out?
@@musicfromtheheart100 we don’t have a RUclips channel yet, thinking about that though. We love the Channel of Paul. We are living in Southern part of Philippines. It’s nice here, not much foreign so the cost of living is not that expensive.😀The places are nice and had a good beaches around. Nice people.. Are you in the Philippines ?
@@leizelmcmullinhi po maam.ask lng po Ako pwd pala mag apply for six months extension kahit hindi kayo kasal?
Does JRC cover all of Phillipines? Or do you have to be in Duma or cebu.
