A thousand U.S. dollars for a rental place anywhere in the Philippines is, nothing to brag about, way too much money! That's more like a house payment here in America. They must've built that subdivision mostly for foreigners so that they can charge them those outrageous prices to naive foreigners. Everything is expensive in Cebu because there are a lot of foreigners living there so they purposely jack up the prices on everything. My Filipina wife and I have two homes. Our house in Eastern Samar and condo in Ermita Manila. Please do not make assumptions regarding my experiences. I have lived in the Philippines long before you were born and have been hospitalized in the Philippines numerous times over the past twenty years. I have actual experiences. I was hospitalized (Dec 27, 2013 to February 10 2014) at Manila Doctors for 7 full weeks (49 days) with a rare auto immune disorder - Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), I was paralyze from the chest down, unable to care for self and wore adult diapers for six full weeks until I was able to get out of bed on my own to use the CR. I was in ICU for more than a week, unable to breath without a ventilator and close monitoring. I was very close to meeting my maker. The very professional and skilled doctors at Manila Doctors Hospital saved my life. While I was in the hospital, a close friend/neighbor suffered a heart attack and had quadruple bypass at the same hospital. His hospital room was right next to mine for three days. I am retired US military and also a disabled veteran. When I was active duty I suffered catastrophic life threatening injuries and massive head trauma, resulting in a traumatic brain injury. Because of my disabilities, and long time residency here in the Philippines I have more experience than most people I have met. Your comments regarding Filipino doctors being lazy and not staying abreast of recent research and development is unfair. Maybe these are your experiences, but I know many western expats who have received excellent critical healthcare from the various hospitals in Metro Manila including myself. There are good and bad hospitals everywhere in the world and not limited to the Philippines. While I was in the USA I suffer plantar fasciitis (PF) and was treated for more than a year at a local hospital in Oregon. Ortho doctors were unable to fix my PF. When my wife and I made our annual snowbird trip to the Philippines and we stayed in our Manila condo. I was treated at Makati Med by skilled othopedic doctor. Two months later my PF went away without surgery. Filipino doctors treated my PF, where stateside doctors failed.

Yep great price, you guys are lucky. Renting a small 1-br townhome in the West Valley area of L.A. now costs $1500 (or even more, depending). No kidding. For real.
Hi Eric just watched your vlog. 50K is way beyond most Philippinos budgets. I've been to the Philippines many times including cebu city. My last trip to the Philippines was cagayan De oro October 2019. But because of this pandemic my plans to live 6 months in the Philippines and 6 months UK are on hold. But thanks for the vlog and I have subscribed so I will look forward to future vlogs
you just need to patient my dear the travel retriction is for your own safety ok once the number or pandemic is lower im sure the travel restriction will be lifted

Sorry but that's my opinion based on my trip there and my observations. In Ohio, where i live, you can rent a beautiful condo with 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms with a two car garage for 750.00 dollars per month.
I agree with you also, still nice video and a very nice living space! Take care and God bless.

You have a lovely and fairly large backyard. You could always farm your own salmon. Wonderful video!😊
Looks like a nice place although $1000 a month for what seems to be a remote place with little local amenities might be pushing it. Did it come fully furnished? What's your monthly bills clocking in at? Thanks for the tour
Probably fully furnished yeah, that price tends to include the bells & whistles.
Yeah that seems extremely isolated from everything. Great view tho
Ok
Thank you so much for this beautiful video in this reading. 📚
Wished I could find something similar in Metro Manila for that price and the views. I love your home but I would have to have the larger type malls a lot closer than you have them now. The salmon in the Philippines is all that toxic farmed stuff from Norway. I only eat wild caught Alaskan. Greenland halibut is available at S&R warehouse and apparently wild caught. Delicious. I prefer that Greenland halibut to California halibut.

As a fellow Washington resident in Tacoma, about 40 mins from Seattle, $1000 will definitely get you a tiny studio. So watching your house tour for $1000 a month is also cheap in my eyes. But I gotta remember that $1000 in the Philippines is a lot. Not sure if I wanna live too far away from everything though.
Yeah that was surprising to me. If I live far away I'd like a lot of land at least. But a developing area and waterfront.. more will come overtime.
How did you find all your furnishings? Place looks great!!
Hi, I curious to know was there any damage to your house by resent typhoon?
Yes for sure! It was flooded on the ground floor with about 3 inches of water and the entire outdoor seating area/roof cover area flew away. Our neighbors weren't all as lucky. Some of them completely had their roofs fly away or collapse in

Now for me at age 59 and planning to retire in the Philippines in the year 2025. Under the Philippine American SRRV Military Retirement Visa Program. Special program that the host nation, the Philippines offer for American military Veterans. I lived in the Philippines at Clark Air Base (Angeles area) back in the day in 1991. I do not think both of you were born yet. I estimate renting a condo will be about $500 American dollars per month. You guys with all those rooms, may need to fill them up with family members. I need to be centralize in Cebu City near hospitals and international airport. Who know, I may be personally honored to see both of you one day in Cebu. From US American Air Force Security Police Military Veteran and former resident of Clark Air Base, Philippines. I liked and subscribed to your channel, thank you for this video. GOD speed to the Philippines.
Thanks for watching! You can easily find a nice apartment/condo for $500 or less a month and even a nice home if you are in the right area. I think when we are both older and health concerns become a larger issue moving closer to hospitals will be of more importance as you have mentioned!

If you have severe health problems and coming from the US, you shouldn't fully move to the Philippines. Most filipinos who worked in the US but returned to the Philippines are 50/50 going back n forth just to keep up with their health.
@@Anonymint-vj7bt . I have lived more than half of my adult life in the Philippines, spanning 42 plus years since Year 1980. My Filipina wife and I are snowbirds for 15 plus years and divide our time between homes in the USA and the Philippines. While in the Philippines I have received world class healthcare at some of the finest hospitals in southeast Asia in Metro Manila. My experiences are much different than other individuals who have posted. I have known many western expats over the past 20 years who have received superior healthcare at a fracture of the cost of their home country.
@@asianspec I definitely agree if living in a rural area. Living in the city is a different situation, only if you have very good expat health coverage and the resources to properly care for self in case of emergency. @@Anonymint-vj7bt You have a kind and generous heart. I wish there were more caring expats out there. I agree with you. There is no comparision when you match the healthcare options of the Philippines with the USA or other first world country. @@Anonymint-vj7bt Please take the time to carefully read my posting. I mentioned in my previous posting I have lived in the Philippines kore than half of my adult life, spanning 42 years since Year 1980. I do not visit the Philippines.
I would never ever pick that place but if you are happy good for you.
