Thank you! I followed your video and changed my spark plugs outside during winter, and soaking wet from the snow! I'm warming up inside now. Thank you again!
Thanks for the video:) I have have a 2011. No mechanic experience at all and i followed your video... took a long time but she's running beautifully. thanks!
I agreed with everything you mentioned in this video. You've made this video very clear and concise. Not only have you saved me money, but I learned a lot from your video. Very informative video. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video man... I have to replace the plugs and even the ignition coils... You called them "boots" The job seemed easy enough and with this video I feel a little better doing this myself, because I hardly know anything about fixing cars....
Well, Thank to this video I was finally able to change the spark plugs, a lot cheaper. 4 Spark Plugs- $13.45 Gap Tool- $2 Job Fee- My satisfaction~! Also, I want that puppy! So cute!
I had to do the spark plug replacement for my wife's car. She was complaining of the engine stalling when she was in start and stop traffic. Went to the dealer who wanted 89.99 for diagnostics and the spark plug replacement was 179.00. So the cheap direction was to buy the four spark plugs and change them myself. Total time 1 hour for the full replacement and testing. With parts costing 8.99 + 1.00 for a gap tool.
My car was doing the same, and engine light came up. I am not a mechanic, just a nurse girl. I diagnosed spark plugs, and will change them by myself. About time to tune up anyway, and I won't pay $300 so someone can change the oil, look at the rest and tell me I need another $250 in God knows what. Anyhow...here I am. Vehicle is a Kia Rio 2007, and I don't think is much different from 2010. So wish me luck!!!!Thanks for the video!
Awesome video! I’ll be changing out the spark plugs on our 2009 Kia Rio. We upgraded the spark plugs one notch, to the platinum alloy plugs. Also by NGK, stock number 7090, BKR5EGP.
Thanks for the feedback Tom. Something else that fails on these guys are the coils (what I called boots, old term from my Toyota Corolla days). They have a tendency to go bad after a while. If your going through this you may want to consider replacing them right around 100K miles. My wife just got another check engine light and it was a faulty coil. Replace it and problem disappeared. You can get the coils from pretty much anywhere. My son (an avid Subaru Enthusiast, ambassador and expert) suggested that I not skimp on aftermarket products but go get the Kia, original parts. Not a bad suggestion, a tad more expensive but you are guaranteed success.
Mañuel...Thank you very much for this excellent video. One comment I would like to make is that the boot you mention for the spark plug also contains the coil. Rough idle or misfires in a cylinder could indicate that the coil is bad also. You can narrow it down to which cylinder(s) by going to Autozone or Advance Auto and have them read your codes to see which are misfiring.
GREAT VIDEO I HAVE A 2011 RIO AND SEVERAL YEARS AGO I STARTED HAVING IDLING ISSUES. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY INJECTORS BUT ONE DAY IT GOT SO BAD I BARELY MADE IT HOME. BEFORE THIS MY CAR RAN SO WELL AND SMOOTH, LIKE AN IDIOT STARTED IT SEVERAL TIMES WHEN IT WAS GOING. I CHANGED MY PLUGS BUT ONLY REMOVED THE WHOLE COIL NOT KNOWING HOW TO SEPARATE THE WIRES. JUST LAST WEEK THIS PROBLEM CAME BACK AND IT WAS ONE COIL. THE THING IS IT HAS "NEVER" RUN AS WELL AS IT DID ON DAY ONE. COULD IT BE OTHER BAD COILS??
A GREAT VIDEO, THANKS I ALSO HAVE ENTERED ALL MY INFO ON MY RIO TO AMAZON AND FROM NOW ON (THEY SAID) ALL I LOOK FOR ON THEIR SITE WILL BE FOR MY OWN CAR, SO I WAS WONDERING IF MY NEW PLUGS I ORDER FROM THEM "WILL" HAVE THE PERFECT GAP??
I appreciated seeing this and now I feel like I will not have much trouble doing it. Except when you said at the end that you had to wait for the gap tool to arrive. Hearing this, I think you are able to do miracles or you used Amazon Prime but it would end up more than $30 in that case, unless you sign up for their new credit card. So please tell us what you did to manifest the spark club gap tool. I will be even more grateful. Thank you!
You can get a code reader to tell you what code the computer is recording and you could choose to erase it. They are not that expensive and remember google is your friend for figuring out what the codes mean.
As in an engine code reader? They only give you a code.. that code might mean ten different things that could be wrong. But still, it does narrow it down
BY THE WAY THANKS TO "YOU" I MANAGED TO REPLACE ALL OF MY PLUGS AND ALTHOUGH MECHANICALLY ADEPT, NEVER TOUCHED A CAR ENGINE BEFORE. I SAW A 4-PAK OF COILS ON AMAZON FOR $49. CANADIAN, IS THIS SAFE???
I would never use iridium plugs though; the platinum are better and the copper is best; you just have to change them more often; iridium is the worst conductor of the 3; even though they last longer they blacken your tailpipe; another manufacturers debacle !!!
Thank you! I followed your video and changed my spark plugs outside during winter, and soaking wet from the snow! I'm warming up inside now. Thank you again!
Just did this fix myself on my 2011 Rio5, thanks to your video! ... earned a man card today.
Thanks for the video:) I have have a 2011. No mechanic experience at all and i followed your video... took a long time but she's running beautifully. thanks!
Thanks for your kind words.
Great video!
Just want to say that if you replace the spark plugs one by one you neevr risk mixing up the cables.
I agreed with everything you mentioned in this video. You've made this video very clear and concise. Not only have you saved me money, but I learned a lot from your video. Very informative video. Thanks again!
Thank you
I have always found pre gapped plugs. I thought that's all there was now days. Great vid!
Thanks for this. Couldn't have done it without you

how did it go?
8.99?! Your parts are so cheap. My irridium lazer spark plugs were $20 EACH. So $80 total..
Awesome Now time to do mine. Good Video!!!
Thanks for the video. Used it to replace the plugs on my wife's Kia Rio 2011.
Glad it helped!

You are correct, just old habits from my old Corolla.
Thx

Old habits die hard, that's what I used to call them when cars had actual ignition coils on the outside and distributor rotors.
this will save me a lot of money.

Recommendation: Replacing Knock Sensor, 2010 Kia Rio Lx
Thank you.
Thank you, brotha
Any time!
Hi bro my 16valve engine 1.6 fire it not coming out from plug wires. What is the problem.
I appreciated seeing this and now I feel like I will not have much trouble doing it. Except when you said at the end that you had to wait for the gap tool to arrive. Kevin Leeds Its called my wife went over to autozone and got me one.
Manuel, can you make a video about the MAF sensor on that same Kia?
Thanks
I will try.
Do you use any type of grease on the new plugs?
No I never use grease. I could see it on the threads to make it go in easier but it will likely burn off on the heat of the chamber.
my motor indicator keeps poping up on the screen, it wont go off now. does it need a computer reset
You can get a code reader to tell you what code the computer is recording and you could choose to erase it. They are not that expensive and remember google is your friend for figuring out what the codes mean.
انا عندي كيا ريو سيدان موديل 2010 ديزل فيها مشكلة بدعسة الديزل لاترفع الدوران إلا على 3
Do u really need an extension that big
The spark plug is deep, a short and medium extensions back to back will probably work fine.
YOU CAN BUY A DIAGNOSIS TERMINAL FOR LESS THAN they charge you for diagnosis. pays for itself in no time.
i got 1 for $300 from REPCO . but its not basic. saw 1 for under$100
As in an engine code reader? They only give you a code.. that code might mean ten different things that could be wrong. But still, it does narrow it down
In the Middle East I have the same car and the same model but it comes with spark plug wires 🤷🏾♂️
BY THE WAY THANKS TO "YOU" I MANAGED TO REPLACE ALL OF MY PLUGS AND ALTHOUGH MECHANICALLY ADEPT, NEVER TOUCHED A CAR ENGINE BEFORE. I SAW A 4-PAK OF COILS ON AMAZON FOR $49. CANADIAN, IS THIS SAFE???
They should be. That is not a bad price for the four.
I would never use iridium plugs though; the platinum are better and the copper is best; you just have to change them more often; iridium is the worst conductor of the 3; even though they last longer they blacken your tailpipe; another manufacturers debacle !!!
