I really dig andy's playing i love how he says "it speaks" giving a human quality to his guitar. Also "volume knob is your best friend" he really is endowed in music. I love these videos of his. Andy your just amazing.
@sebace. Thanks for this info. I don't recall asking about the pick up in his guitar, but I am glad you took the the time to tell me about them. Thanks very much my friend.
Thx, but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the passage he plays at the end 4:55 - to end of clip. That bit doesn't appear on the album. He might just be making that up on the spot, I don't know but I really like it.
Because andy now has his own signature pickup with dimarzio which in my ears sounds very simular to a jb but with abit less output and more articulation.
@Plocky241 .0.001uF capacitor and solder it across the lug of the volume pot (middle lug) and the outer lug that is not connected to ground. You can find diagrams on Seymour Duncans website or just google" Treble Bleed mod".
Dose any one agree with me that Andy's sig guitar looks like a Fedner Stratacaster? But it would not matter if it were a fender, becuase Andy is brilliant and a very cool guitar player.
I have a Memory Man, it's a wonderful thing. A good demo is at 4:54...what is that beautiful song he's playing? My guess is he's noodling but hoping it's on a future record.
@wisesatyr72 Why would they? He's been sponsored by Ibanez for years and has a signature guitar with them, I wouldn't want a Fender endorsement instead of what he already has.
hehe see you got kinda david gilmour and jet he finishes on jeff back :D anyhow his signature guitar is one ot the best tone/stay in tune traditional style. I have my custom strat done same job without even knowing this timmons guy.

This guy is amazing. I'm new to him, but he is just fantastic
awesome tone. sick ass fingerings.. and this mo fo plays all over the place. truly inspiring
Andy is amazing live. Better than the CDs, even.
this guy is a total master of sound! amazing sound! really helpful! I'm getting a memory man :)
Wonderful demo.
Love what you're playing at 4:55 - 5:17. Beautiful.
cuz he recently switched to the dimarzio AT1. so thats the pickup on the series model
@meta 1983. Thanks for all the extra info.

"The volume knob is your best friend". The man said it all!!!
@benno369
Hmm... I have that CD. I'll have to give it another listen to see where it is. Thx!
I could watch guitarists talk gear all day. It should be mandatory to continue as a guitarist to have a nice sit down discussion about tone.
awsome .. timmons rules-tone
Aaaah, the tone from 2:00 to 2:15 is so good, you could add potatoes and serve it as a gourmet meal. Delicious.
indeed, ibanez usually use basswood, however AT-100 is alder + maple combo = classic stratacaster combo :)
OMG ITS 2 MEMORY MEN.... Thanks so much for explaining this...i was wondering what kind of delay was that
Because andy now has his own signature pickup with dimarzio which in my ears sounds very simular to a jb but with abit less output and more articulation.
I'm pretty much running straight into the amp. I've got these 8 pedals here that i use alot but i'm still pretty much goin straight to the amp.
ye it looks like a fender except the ibanez head shape and dimarzio pickups. Even the neck is fender C shape other than ibanez RG neck shape

@yjmsrv He talks about a capacitor on the volume knob... what kind of capacitor? is it a specific one or any capacitor will do?
I really like the clean passage at the end. Is that form one of Andy's records?
@f2kflyer
Ok. I just listened to the Resolution CD and couldn't find this song. :(
I will definitely buy a dimarzio cruiser for my fender strat
I tried the cap treble bleed thing, it was just too brittle
@meta1983. I know it's not 100% Fedner llike, but I just thought that it did look like one. Thanks for agreeing with me.
just bought a stiletto duece II head. Psyched!

Some people said that just bought an that Ibanez At100 and it didn's stay in tune. Isn't it overpriced?
so in the last 30 seconds or so, did he have the chorus on the echo like he said or was he just saying "he is able to do that"
Very Strat-like tones he's getting, but the humbucking element gives things a little more warmth and richness.
amen to that!
Toca demais pow...
Did Andy ever use JB/ Texas Specials combo?
he used JB in his early years, but since AT-1 was desinged he uses only Dimarzio's.
Jeff Beck?!!!hehe...Andy get's great sound on JB..it's a miracle....

JB stands for Jazz Blues, not Jeff Beck
Seymour Duncan humbucker???? And the Dimarzio AT?????
Ok, If I were to buy a guitar and install Andy's DiMarzio pickups to get close to Andy's tone and not spend 2,600$, what guitar anyone recommend??
Plocky241 dude, I use a squire affinity series and get real close
huauha McGyver!!!
my guitar is signed by AT
why doesnt Fender sponsor this guy..they sponsor John Mayer? go figured
Mesa hummmmmmmmmmm
delay & chorus should be in the loop! sounds a bazillion times better : )
Guy Man I think he knows what sound he wants lol
agreed, check out my vids, i feel the same way on the subject
