Hi, If I could play like anyone that I wanted to (and could only choose one) it would be Jeff Beck. I still want to do a photo session with him as well. All the best, Larry DiMarzio
Andy is awesone not just because of his ridiculous talent, technique and ultimate feel but because he's humble and just and an ordinally guy who loves his instrument and those that brought it to him.
It's so beautiful seeing a musician with such a true connection with music, not just scales and notes. Andy's playing is breathtaking. There are so few like him out there.
I was fortunate enough to have met Andy in person after an Olivia Newton-John concert in 2012. Me, him, and a mate chatted backstage for two hours about music, gear, the Beatles, and just life in genera - a very inspiring two hours. Before we left, he reached into his pocket and grabbed us a couple of his guitar picks. It was my happiest day in recent memory.
I got to jam with him at a NY club in '90 or '91 and I was impressed at what a cool guy he was. I doubt he would even remember but we played a Bad Company tune (I think) and maybe ZZ Top....apparently I don't remember either. Ha! So nice to see a good guy and great player have success.
andy is a real musician, master on guitar too, he never had bad taste in his career. he's just too good for ordinary rock bands.same league as satriani and vai, shame he's not as famous outside the guitar playing world because he deserrves so
Such a tasteful guitarist. I love the way that Andy doesn't shred and throw out notes for the sake of it - obviously he could do that all day long - but he chooses to work the notes & his phrasing is exceptional. Truly talented guy & a uniquely interesting musician to listen to. Long may he continue.
Andy is one of the most accomplished guitarists out there! He has everything, most importantly he has impeccable taste, tone, and style. He obviously has world class technique but always uses it in the service of the music, so impressed with him!! Definitely one of my favorite guitarists of all time!
I witnessed the miracle that is Andy at the recent G4 Experience guitar camp in Cambria, CA in August 2014. I have to say he stole our hearts. The guys plays with such passion and lyricism - and awesome chops which he uses tastefully, not gaudily. In person he is one of the sweetest guys - sincere, humble, appreciative.
Saw Jeff Beck at the Ryman last Year. Front row balcony. If anyone knows the original Ryman, that is tonal bliss seating. I laid back, propped up my feet and witnessed the juggernaut of Beck! To this day, by far the most amazing guitar performance I've seen. Jeff talked only twice for maybe 20 seconds max. Played for 3 hours!
I've been a fan of Andy Timmons for several years going back to his days in Danger Danger ! This guys a monster player as you all can see ... wow , just wow !
Way back in '95 or '96, I met Andy at a CD release in Dallas, TX. I showed up way early and caught him as he was setting up, had a great chat with him and he even showed me how a particular arpeggio worked in one of his recordings. Such an amazing player, such a humble and approachable person. Fan for life!
I was there, so fortunate to see him in such a great venue. Jeff Beck was always so original even covering someone else’s music. He always brought something new and inspiring to the song. He will be forever missed, especially for those of us who saw him live over the many decades of his career.
Andy Timmons is awesome player and very nice person! Thanks to Ibanez for making the best guitars in the world, thank you Larry for making the best pick ups in the world! Greetings from Croatia! :)
Guys, please post a full video of this performance without the interview running over it. We gotta hear every little note coming out of this dude's amazing virtuoso soul.
I've never seen such emotive playing. He is an absolute master of his instrument.....all the while barely looking at it. I'm sure we can all relate when he says he 'teared up' watching Jeff Beck. What an inspiration. Someone should start carving the the Mount Rushmore of guitarists. His place would be more than deserved. Every interview I've seen him in he's the most genuine 'im happy to be here with you' kind of guy. It'd be an honour to meet him.
An absolutely incredible display of guitar musicianship, skill and expression that I have ever witnessed on this planet . A lifetime of guitar mastery on display and one of the most humble people I have ever met. Totally beyond words. Absolutely beautiful and stunning at the same time. A true master of the instrument and he’s not done yet . Wow !
That was back when he came around Denton Tx to play at the Library and at Alexanders. I met him through friends that had bands he jammed with. Funny thibg , I talked to him about Jeff Beck back then. But I also talked with him about many other musicians. I was happy for him when I saw that a few years later he was becoming successful.
Andy your practice and dedication has paid off. Your technical ability is fantastic but your phrasing and touch, your expression is also excellent and soulful. Keep up the great work.
I was the biggest Jeff Beck fan around the time of Blow by Blow and then every album since that one caught me struggling to stay a fan. I've always waited for Blow by Blow II but it never came until I heard Andy Timmons play. Thank You Andy!
Love Andy, he's so expressive, my first introduction to him he immediately became a favorite of mine, being a guitar player I can more than appreciate him, from his mind blowing technical expertise, to his composing/ song writing, he's a very humble and down to earth all around great guy and the world of music is a better place because he's a part of it👍🏼✌🏼️
I really like both, Andy and Jeff. I saw Andy 2 years ago in Germany when he presented his gear and answered questions from the audience. But he also played about 6 of his great songs. This evening did cost only 7$!!! I never met such a great guitar player who really knows how important the connection between listeners and artist is. He was quite funny and did not become stressed by a lot of very simple questions. Next month I gonna see Jeff playing in Germany. I am really looking forward!
Every word out of his mouth is the absolute truth. I have been playing for 40 years. I've had lots of highs and lows in my musical journey, but this cat has succeeded to condense the entire quest for tone into a few simple statements. Listen up kids... not so much to his playing but rather the true passion for the instrument and the love of the art of playing guitar. That's it in a nutshell , passion. I wish I had heard this at 14, but them I wouldn't have cared. GO SEE BECK! You deserve it!
There are so many talented guitar players, but when you hear people like Jeff Beck, you realize there is such a thing as guitar Gods. The beauty of guitarist is that it allows different souls to communicate their feelings and expressions. I still believe the electric guitar is the ultimate instrument of expression. In the hands of the gifted they can make it sound like almost anything.
Hey, man. I have played all my life. I am 39 and just never seemed to be able to put myself in the right places to be able to make the transition from my day job. The skills aren't the problem. I am. Watching Timmons speak about being moved to tears by a piece resonated with me. I have that "ability" or open-ness to where I can let myself ride the same wave the Composer does. I realize now that everyone can't feel that. It is a dis-service for a guitarist NOT to share when they Convey Honesty
Really amazing guitarist... I'm glad there is still a guitarist evolution going on.. He really blends different influences and mixes/ makes it into his own.
Andy is like one of the socker players in FC Barcelona: highly gifted, very skilled. One of the best in what he is doing. However, at FC Barcelona all those extreme talented players look up to one individual that is shining far above all the others: Messi. Jeff Beck has the same thing to other players. They all admire him, as Messi. Like him, he is the choosen one. And Andy, like all very gifted people, is a humble and great person. He is not jealous, he is able to admire other musicians and be in inspired by them. The only way to grow.
What Andy describes as his Jeff ephiphany is perfectly represented in Jeff's concert at Ronnie Scott's in 2007. If you've been denied that stunning experience, start with Angel(Footsteps) and Cause We've Ended As Lovers. You will never, ever be the same after even just those two pieces. Like Andy described.
Saw JB back in the late nineties. Had the same experience. Absolutely fluid, most free guitarist I’ve ever seen live. Really exciting. I was in front row, and caught his slide when he threw it out into audience!
Been loving Jeff Beck since 1968, I aint Superstitious, was my favorite song, when I was growing up. Truth, was one of the albums, that inspired me. By the time I was in High School, Blow by Blow, was another one, that I really connected with. I got to see him "Live" doing that tour ... ONE Amazing Talented Man.
I agree with you on Jeff Beck. As for a life altering live show, I have to say seeing Count Basie at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Pavilion right before he died made me question what I was doing with my life outside of music. No matter, I’m trying to get “there” with my guitar. Thanks for this, Wick
Andy is one of the most amazing players. He's just got it all: great tone, timing, phrasing, and if he wants he can shred, too, but he uses his fast playing only sparingly and so tastefully!
One of the most overlooked and underrated players of our time. I love Andy Timmons. “Fantastic” player.
i think hes just unknown. because it takes 2 mins of listening to confirm his skill level and passion.
Hi, If I could play like anyone that I wanted to (and could only choose one) it would be Jeff Beck. I still want to do a photo session with him as well.
All the best,
Larry DiMarzio
Hi,
I have been a fan of Jeff Beck since the early 70s and seen him live several times. He is one of my favorites.
All the best,
Larry DiMarzio
Andy is awesone not just because of his ridiculous talent, technique and ultimate feel but because he's humble and just and an ordinally guy who loves his instrument and those that brought it to him.
One of the most incredible guitar players.
AT is squeezing so much emotion out of every note, this is really amazing
Ronin 77 exactly my thought a moment ago ...

I've seen him at least five times and he's freaking awesome. He has music oozing from his pores. Amazing player!
Why do people think fame is such a great thing? Like, "oh, he should be sooooo famous!", but why? I mean what good would it really do him?
Nah, Mr. Timmons is already a worldwide famous guitar hero.
He's awesome , he's a famous world guitarist too !!
he is famous ... and still
This guy is awesome. He is feeling it and doesn't care what else is going on anywhere. It is beautiful.
Best comment amongst so many really great ones.
The absolute most gut wrenching version of this song I've ever heard. It hurts.
I was fortunate enough to have a lesson with Andy. He lives in the same town as me. Incredibly talented person and the nicest of guys.
lucky you. :)
Curious, what town was that? Somewhere in Texas?
Dallas
@@LarryCleveland I live in Dallas... I want a lesson with him lol holy shit

Chris Sommers I agree brother. I was there as well and he was a joy to be around and his playing was eye opening.

I had exactly the same experience a few years ago, when I went to see Jeff Beck live in Mainz (Germany).
I wish Andy and his band would come to NYC. I have turned so many people on to his playing and to see him live would be such a great experience!
.
wow this was, tone full on melodic, and he was dead on about beck ,he is a must see for guitar players

A single note by Jeff Beck is almost a mini composition unto itself.
Your point being?
@@hatusage just a compliment I’d say

about 25 years ago my sister-in-law said her friend played lead guitar in a band like me.
I said, "Yeah, sure." it was this guy.
That was back when he came around Denton Tx to play at the Library and at Alexanders. I met him through friends that had bands he jammed with. Funny thibg , I talked to him about Jeff Beck back then. But I also talked with him about many other musicians. I was happy for him when I saw that a few years later he was becoming successful.
now this is balanced guitar playing. very expressive and emotional!
every note has his signature on it...AT is truly a Master Electric Guitarist in every sense of the title.
Andy your practice and dedication has paid off. Your technical ability is fantastic but your phrasing and touch, your expression is also excellent and soulful. Keep up the great work.
Watched him two years ago and he brought me to tears some three or four times himself.
damn. andy really knows how to make me feel good. his playing goes beyond good.
A hearty Thank You for the up... just gorgeous and real in-the-moment music
Saw him two years ago and I was on verge of tears some three or four times. Just a beautiful guitarist and musician.
I was the biggest Jeff Beck fan around the time of Blow by Blow and then every album since that one caught me struggling to stay a fan. I've always waited for Blow by Blow II but it never came until I heard Andy Timmons play. Thank You Andy!
"Wired" and "Live at Ronnies Scott"
Jeff Beck got a little out there after Blow By Blow. Didn't get the Jennifer Batten era at all either but Tal Wilkenfield what a cutie...
One in the fullness of his creation. Thank You
I think I was in tears 4 times after watching Timmons play!
So emotional & expressive but never losing control....hew...amazing.
Great chops amazing guitar player rock on Andy !

When I watch Andy Timmons, it all becomes clear that Andy's best friend is the guitar, and the guitar's best friend is Andy. They simply become one!
Puts wings on my heart, beautiful
That melodies have full of souls...

Genius is an understatement. Andy GOD Timmons!!
can cry listening to this...
that's not just guitar, pickups and amp. andy timmons has to be the best sounding guitarist ever. and also one of the overall best guitarists i know.
That's was incredible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw Andy at The Iridium in NYC playing the Sgt. Pepper album cover to cover. Fantastic.
I consider AT, Cry For You a parallel (nod) to JB, Cause We've Ended As Lovers...it just doesn't get any more emotional than that.
Thank you sooooo much for this!
Technique AND passion!
Love this performance, just a touch more restraint beautiful!!!
That is one of the reasons why I love Dimarzio pickups
Thank you Very Much!!!!!!
I never get tired of this… AT = ♾
Great master Andy Timmons one best of guitarrist in the world!!
Waiting for his live show in Italy.....coming soon!
One of his more inspired performances. Feelin it!
WOW This is first time I've heard him. Freakin' Awesome!! Gonna check his music out for sure.
Absolutely killer - and the nicest guy too.
Wow? I am blown away!!!
AMAZING! .. the tone was amazing also.

Incredible...won of the very best.
met him while working in music retail in the late 8o's . he did clinics at my store . good people as well
he has always this nice warm guitar tone, i love it. Reminds me of Eric Johnson
Holy crap that kicked ass. Amazing on many levels.
Andy is one of the most amazing players. He's just got it all: great tone, timing, phrasing, and if he wants he can shred, too, but he uses his fast playing only sparingly and so tastefully!
Absolutely fantastic tone!
love this man's playing
Awesome! Outstanding tone
