      My only issue with the Outdoorsman series is the lack of knives that were made for the outdoorsman (scout, toothpick and 5 inch lockback. Also it needs more fixed blades, say a fillet knife, and a good hunting knife with a 4 or 5 inch blade.

    Thanks to your previous video titled "Rough Riders gone Forever?" and your showing of the light brown Burl Wood Lockback, I now have one! I got it brand new in the box for around $18.00 (shipped to the house) on eBay. I would have never known about it if not for your showing of it. It is also one of my favorite RRs! Thanks for this video and the other one!

    Interesting as usual. I never saw a 4 inch Toothpick for sale over here and I have been on knife sites for about seven years, the first site and one I bought most of knives off was Heinnie Hayes, actually I just remembered they did have the yellow high carbon and I ordered it but asked them to check it first as I had seen bad reviews, they checked and said they checked their stock and they didn't have a decent one, but that is the only model they carried, would love to pick up the Dog bone some time.

    I like the thoughts you've put into your choices. "My Top 5's" I think should always be chosen for personal reasons. As for RR series I like the stoneworx, silver select, cinnamon stag bone, green micarta, smooth amber bone, and any of their buffalo horn covers.
    As for my Top 5 RR's in no particular order: RR988 silver select sowbelly stockman w/silver & abalone covers; RR1750 old southwest canoe; RR1695 small trapper with buffalo horn covers w/abalone & mop; RR1036 big barlow w/smooth amber bone covers; RR2181 copperhead in cinnamon stag bone.
    Honorable Mention to: RR1138 Electricians knife in buffalo horn; RR1115 Man Knives sommelier tool in ocean blue smooth bone; RR204 french tickler lockback; and RR2250 highland bowie thrower.

    How do you sharpen pocket knives? Can you make a video on the subject? My Wicked Edge system doesn't work so well for smaller blades.

    • @ukestudio3002
      @ukestudio3002 Год назад

      Many, sharpen, then dull their knife while sharpening because they change the angle. The most reliable way is 1) estimate how much edge you want sharpened. 2) use rough whetstone 3) scrape away from the edge. 4)Use finer Arkansas stone or a diamond dusted nail file to fine tune. 5)touch up with diamond dust nail file after every other use . (This is reliable beginner sharpening)Good luck.

      Glad you enjoyed the knives. The odd thing is many of the statues seemed to survive both German and Russian occupation and for many Poles, the Mermaid is a symbol of hope. I know, these days, such thoughts are archaic but we're talking about a symbol on the City's crest. The legend of the mermaid actually predates the division of Poland between Austria-Hungary, Russia, and Germany. Glad you enjoyed the video. Some of te older series are a little hard to find but I think they are worth the search!

    Some really lovely knives you have on show there. Sadly none of the knives I owned as a kid in the UK are now available. Its all American and Chinese offerings at inflated prices and though you can buy almost any size or style knives, you have to be careful carrying them - 3 inch blade none locking is legal.

    I really enjoyed your RR favorites. A terrific video. I guess my favorite series would be the ArrowHead. I only have one which I bought when it first came out. It’s the Splitback Whittler. Should have acquired more at the time. I can’t justify what the prices are now.
    Great choices again, Tobias. 🔪

      The split back whittler is a good one in that series. Yeah, some of the prices people are offering are downright crazy. Problem is there are a few people who seem to need some of them for bragging rights.

    I like your choices and wish I had collected some of those older series you show. I have only really gotten into this the last year or two. I have been planning to modify one of my rough Ryder knives one of these days.
    I’ve watched some of your older videos on victorinox and would be interested if your opinions have changed much on your favorites. I have been looking into acquiring more of them recently. I heard they discontinued like 39 models at the end of the year. I think most of them weren’t selling well but there are some unfortunate ones like the manager.

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias

      Wow, I didn't know they discontinued that many. I know part of what they did a while back to eliminate old Wengers that had a Victorinox counterpart. I really need to revisit my favorite brands but I can tell you this. Victorinox would still be in my top five, possibly even my top three!

    It’s a little surprising that Warsaw’s city symbol is a fighting mermaid, given that Warsaw is not a coastal city. It is on a river, though.

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias
      @KnifeChatswithTobias  Год назад

      There is a legend that the Mermaid swam down the Vistula and was caught in a fishing net. As she was tangled in the net was on verge of drowning, a farmer saw her struggling, and cut here free from the net. Rather than attempting to capture her in here weakened state he set cared for and set her free. Because of his help she pledged to protest the city against all invaders. The legend has it as long as the city honors the mermaid the city will survive any occupation and the people shall find freedom.
