Oh my goodness! I love those MK1s. I have a modern replica MK 1 from KaBar with stacked leather handles. Someday I hope to get an original MK1 from the WW II era. Thanks for sharing, Tobias.
Man, what a haul there Tobias! I thought about getting the Victorinox “Big Foot”, but ultimately opted for the Autism knife. Got the same hat and load of misc in the box as you did. As for impulse buying, now I’m going to want that Bigfoot after you influenced me!😉😆
Those were some big honking knives. My pockets ain't that deep to carry one of them. Might need to cinch my belt a little tighter to my pants up carrying one of them. 😂
You can always count on SMKW to send you a bunch of junk mail with your order lmao 😂😂 you did exactly what I do with them. 😊 They are impractical but I love these giant pocket knives I have a couple of old frost ones and I just love em 😊
thanks, Tobias. you don't need a leg to receive mail!i think that combat bowie is 440A if I remember correctly. Also, those curious mints you got on your trip to SMKW are on Amazon--I mean... not to spoil the joy of the travel treat...
@@hleeky , the mints are like double the price on Amazon. A part of the joy of the mints is I get them when I go to SMKW. The Amazon ones wouldn’t be nearly as enjoyable.
Currently it is just nagging and annoying. I feel like I can do stuff and I want to get moving/walking again, but if I do stuff, I pay for it. So I'm much more restless and aggravated that actually in pain.
Great video. Love those Navy deck knives. I understand that Colonial is now producing a copy of the Air Force Survival Knife. They must have got the rights from Ontario after their demise.
Not so much the rights but they do seem to have a bunch of old stock, especially sheaths. I’ll be interested to see who makes future ASEK knives or if they formerly adopt the Gerber LMF as a replacement.
Colonial also makes their 3 version of the MK1 Navy Deck Knife. It’s not clear if this third version was an actual USN issue, or a knife sold thru base/ship exchange, or was a post war commercial release. The USN Deck knife is one confusing rabbit hole to go down.
A lot of people take mobility for granted until they break a leg & then it really starts to sink in how nice it is just to walk. You might invest in an old man grabber thing. It prevents you from having to bend over so often & picking up box paper stuffing. I have a dollar tree version & an Amazon folding version. The dollar tree does a decent job, but the Amazon version is better at picking up heavier things. It's great to see you got the RR Combat Bowie 👍. I'm still very impressed with mine. I tightened up my cross guard with some black flat braided nylon. I haven't thrown in epoxy or a shim yet. I suspect it's a stick tang pinned to the cap or hammered down. I think part of the tight sheath is the slight belly thickness. I like the sheath, and I've switched back to carrying it in its own sheath. I like those jumbo knives for some reason. 😂I'll probably pick up the Stockman. I should get the Trapper also since I have the other two already. I'm curious if they make more than 1000 of each or if the number is just a thing that doesn't really have any meaning if duplicate numbers appear.
Interesting video, I had one of those Navy knives when I was a kid, not sure what happened to it unfortunately. I used it for camping. I hope you foot gets better.
That seems to be a case of cruel and unusual gift giving! But then at least you have the anticipation of a cool gift. Hopefully it will live up to the unwrapping!
@@Jimthechevywheelman They had some American Shrade and a few other brands of older slip joint knives as well for very reasonable prices but honestly there was pretty much zero money changing hands 🥲
Hey, Tobias. Have you tried applying a little heat from a heat gun and flattening it out a bit on that combat Bowie sheath? I'll bet that would do the trick.
@@KnifeChatswithTobias That might just work. If you should come across the use of a heat gun, the trick is to keep the heat moving so as to not keep it in one spot or you'd risk melting the nylon altogether. I've made SHTF hunting bows out of PVC pipe in the very same way and it'll make PVC like a wet noodle for a short time, just long enough to bend to my will (MUAHAHA). Anyway, I believe it will work on your sheath quite well. Good luck, brother!
Mr Gibson, great video!!! My Milo really love when your Kitty opens the show, what is his or her name??? Just so I can tell him. He keeps texting me want to know!!! 😎👍🙏🔥
The Cat's name was Daisy. Alas she passed away about two years ago. When she passed I actually discussed what to do moving forward with subscribers of the channel. It was decided she should live on in a similar fashion as Metro Goldwyn Mayer's Mascot, Leo the Lion. She also live on as part as the mascot for my member only area, which is called Kitty's Corner. (Daisy's stage name was Kitty.)
@@KnifeChatswithTobias well between you and I...I will keep this from my Milo...he response to it every time i watch your video...I feel sure there is a place where Daisy continues to make souls Happy!!!
What I have learned is my issue is minor compared to many folks out there. Mine is a minor inconvenience. Many are suffering with much more problems. I try not to say much unless I think it is going to effect the channel. Thanks for the well wishes, I truely appreciate it!

I'll be doing a video on the "deck knives" soon. They have a somewhat convoluted history.
@@KnifeChatswithTobias I look forward to it Tobias. I need to focus on my naval heritage more!

I also have the autism Classic (old and new). That is actually a cooler knife than the Bigfoot. I had to get it first as well!
Those folders are huge. You’re going to need a bigger pocket.
Very cool knives! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
Now those folders are going to take a really deep pocket. :D Thanks for the vid, buddy...JIm

They are definitely a fun knife for the collector.
Hope your recovery is short and get back to normal soon.

My issue is nothing nearly as bad as broken leg. But you know as well as I do, the older you get, the slower you heal.

It's getting better all the time. I'll be talking about the deck knives soon. The more I look into them, the more confusing and fascinating it gets.

My best deals were gun shows , in Atlanta .. I miss the old days 25 30 years ago b/ 4 e bay though.

Closest thing I have to a heat gun is my wife's hair dryer. Sounds like a possibility
