2 things I’ve noticed about this dude. 1) He’s never imagined the possibility of not having access to RUclips. 2) his creative depth when it comes to any type of lengthened cord/rope is to make it a clothes line.
or a dog leash!! LOLOL
I thought that was so funny too haha. The man definitely values dry clothing.
Or he is promoting the medium that he makes money on… 🤷🏻♂️
@@ianc7533 you can promote your medium and still be aware of the usefulness of books.
3) If he did not have access to youtube and youtube money he would not ever be existent in our society.
"no one reads books anymore" That one sentence cleared up so many questions.
Especially about the Zu-cuh-nees (zucchinis)
I mean he's kinda right. It's one of the reasons why the internet was invented. To gain knowledge faster and quicker. It completely changed the way people found and learnt things. If people in the 19th century had the internet I think it's pretty obvious the would also prefer that over any book.
@@hail_the_enclave Yes and no. For something like "how to plant crops", sure googling is going to be much faster and easier than carrying a 700 page book around and reading it. But like the survival booklet just before the gardening book, what if you're out in the woods or in the middle of some disaster situation, or the power is out? maybe your phone is dead. Maybe the internet is out. youtube isn't always going to be available. I've got gigs of pdfs full of useful information, but Ive also got shelves full of dead tree just in case
@@sgl7007 I could be wrong but I don't think the purpose of these books is to wait to read them till the last second when a apocalypse just started or going camping in the middle of nowhere. You would research beforehand. But maybe if a apocalypse does happen or more likely a big disaster near you, then it would shine. But as of right now books are outdated, but if a apocalypse did happen, then it would be one of the only was to learn things. Computers would probably still exist and may have downloaded stuff that could be useful.
@@hail_the_enclave Well ideally you'd want to research something in advance, but memory retention fades over time for things you're not exposed to on a regular basis, so you'd probably want to reread something when its needed, and again the internets not always going to be available in an every situation.
Of course books that come in battleboxes are going to be geared towards preppers, who by nature stash stuff away just in case.
I'll agree that in the current, modern day, books aren't the most efficient or useful means of acquiring knowledge, but books are a great way to keep easily accessable information that you might need somewhere down the line. just in case
"Who woulf read this book when you have youtube"... It is a emergency book, the power and internet does not stay on with wishes and dreams, Tyler. If there is ever a emergency, a war, your out in a cabin and no signal... Many reasons to have a book like that around
Tyler knowing what a faraday cage is, but not knowing about sweet potatoes is insane.
These videos are really good at encouraging me to not spend my money on any of these boxes and to just buy the nice items individually.
Pretty much the entire reason I watch videos about any of these "survival gear" boxes is to see what knives they come with.
Hoarders' nightmares.
@@Judgement_Kazzy And most of the knives looks like cheap crap!
@@TheGissy77 they are it's all just random junk they throw in there my buddy bought one it was all Walmart junk your better off making your own kit
@@TheGissy77 never trust an online deal that looks too good to be true. folks get swindled out here
Man really looked at a survival book about how to survive without our modern conveniences and talked about how it’s pretty much pointless
YEAH I was hoping Tyler was kidding or joking but I think SURVIVAL BOOKS and what they are really for went over his head.
@@ge0arc244imagine him going a day, let alone several, without electricity or a smartphone😱
The bandage is for chest and abdominal wounds... Helps to seal an open wound to the chest cavity which could involve a collapsed or punctured lung... The abundance of tape is to be able to wrap completely around the body
This is his profession...and he is just so, so bad at it. Read a book dude.
Fyi. Survival books are great to have. When the power is out, or you are in a remote area, cell phones aren't always going to function as they should.
was going to say the same thing. Tyler believes his videos will survive forever. The grid going down is more likely than not.
Hell, my cell phone hardly functions as it should when I travel between towns, let alone in the middle of the desert lol.
And you can burn the survival books for heat.
Those scenarios are extraordinarily unlikely.
@@halfgoodexe for you maybe.
The day Tyler gets stranded with no internet connection he will realize he should had made fun of books and actually figure out why they are still in survival kits
Battlebox: "why spend a little on things you know you need, when you can spend A LOT on crap you DON'T know you need?"
yea, the money you technically save isnt worth it because if you dont need or want an item it doesnt really have value.
The grim workshop subscription i get is more worth it then battlbox is
Hey Tyler, The DD Tarp 3x3 at 29:58 is the sort of thing used by every soldier in British Army, it's also known as a "Basha" it can be used to make a shelter, as a normal tarp and if it's taped in a certain way it can be used as an emergency stretcher great bit of kit.
They're also used by every Soldier in the Canadian Army as well, we call them ground sheets and are worth their weight
Is he thinking 3ft by 3ft as opposed to 3m by 3m ?😊
Tyler, your knife handling will some day require that bandage!
I love the disregard for books in a battle box unboxing where the products r for an outdoors man who is generally away from any internet connection & may just want to read out in the wilderness without needing a battery run device. Some ppl do still enjoy books & also know if all web connections were to disappear, they still have entertainment. Funny guy. 🤣
If only there was something like a book to tell you the uses of all these different type knives! 🤔😆😁
Neck gaiters are useful for covering your face and nose in cold weather, especially if there's wind. They can also be used as hats to cover ears.
Neck warmers and hats/hair bands are far superior to gators. It’s like compromising for everything and doing nothing well 🤷♂️
@@dominantwolf4593 it's like having something you can use to do many things instead of one thing. A scarf is better than a gaiter but can't be easily used as a hat, a hat is better than a gaiter but can't be used as a face shield, gloves are better than a gaiter but can't be used as a neck warmer. Gaiters provide flexibility if you need it.
Neck gators are notorious for causing people to get sick from moisture retention especially in cold weather
@@StevenWichers that would almost make sense...if it actually worked, it doesn’t. Come to the north my friend, those things are literally never seen
@@dominantwolf4593 I use mine every winter. Is it sub zero cold weather gear that'll do you in a blizzard at night in the arctic? No. Never said so. If it's cold outside it's a decent multi-use article of clothing. Someone can go from using it to help keep their face warm, to ears, to neck, to hands and it will do a passable job of it. I don't know why you're so keen on gatekeeping clothing but this is dumb. Wear your hat around your neck, shove your hands in your hair band. I don't care. It's like complaining that a baseball cap is inferior to a wide brimmed sunhat. It is. It's not trying to be superior. It has pros and cons like anything else
Tyler winding up his radio during an apocalypse is the funniest thing.
"Hello everyone, today we are unboxing a raider's corpse!"
Why use a radio when you have RUclips?
Great video Tyler.. Books are very important. If the grid goes down, books on survival and gardening will be invaluable.
Came here to post this!
Well, to be honest, if you start reading books about gardening when shit hits the fan, you are kinda screwed anyway...
Look into the Foxfire book series. Bunch of old timer tricks.
When I'm in the woods I love having to dig through leaves to find the screws I dropped while trying to assemble my knife set.
What shocked me the most in this video is the fact he had metal spoons at home! Mind you,he opted to muse the throwaway party plastic spoon that comes with his paper plates, but he actually owns a real soon!
He’s such an ignorant midwesterner
Everybody in the us uses metal silverware wtf? nobody goes out of their way to go buy plastic utensils that u have to throw away after every meal.
I use all paper stuff and plastic wear even though I have real bowls and silverware 💀 less dishes
@@tyler4q692 Yes everyone uses metal silverware. But I’m confused about the part where you said you have to throw away plastic utensils after every meal. You can wash plastic utensils, cups, bowls, bottles or whatever and reused them also. Not sure why you’d throw them away.
I'm speechless at the fact your amazed by that. You have no purpose in life.
Almost 50 minute of you in your garage testing random stuff; loved every minute.
You must live with your parents.................
@@realrandom7666 Not for over a decade now but I wish I did, it would save me so much on mortgage, utilities, and other bills!
Yeah why would you ever need to read a book when you need to survive, maybe because RUclips wouldn't exist in those scenarios
For real tho 😂
Real men don't read books 😂
Also, you retain information WAY more efficiently when it is read.
@@harley-davidsontech1170 Sounds like something and over weight simp would say. 🤷♂️
@@Alien_Spores I think you should learn how to take a joke my friend
“Why would anyone read a book”
Dont take power or the internet for granted. Thats like saying candles are obsolete. And anyway, how good is your memory, drawing skills etc?
Books are force multipliers.
I've heard him say with great pride that he has "...never read a book in my life".
Talk about the intentionally ignorant. He doesn't even know how to light a Coleman lantern mantle. Probably can't saddle a horse, either.
Lots of common knowledge things he seems totally bewildered by, but if he only read a book or two...
@@blondbowler8776 Pretty sure the jokes on you. He is obviously trolling when he appears ignorant and oblivious to common stuff. The guy worked for several years as a Diesel mechanic. That's not something you learn from the Internet. I'm fairly certain that he read a few books in his life too.
@@ron200088 Sounds like he's got you fooled, that's for sure. Looking something up in a technical manual is hardly "reading a book". Read a book yourself sometime, and maybe you'll see the difference.
@@blondbowler8776 Well, you’ve definitely proven that your are not quite the full shilling yourself. As a 34 year old engineer with a MSc degree and currently working on my PhD, some would say I did some reading in my life and I still do. And I think I’m smart enough to see who’s trolling, unlike others. Also, the Internet is a big place. If you took a few moments and dug a bit deeper, you would have known by now, a few facts about who really Tyler is and how smart he really is. But, you are too busy being “smart” yourself and posting “inteligently”. Cheers !
@@ron200088 Thank you for so handily proving my point. As a 72 year old retired clinical psychologist, you can't hold a candle to me. But, hey, every so-called "engineer" I've ever known has sounded just like you...hehehehe, way, way over-inflated ego and sense of self-worth. You see them working the drive-up window a lot. BTW, check your spelling of "Intelligently", and get back to me again about how "smart" you are.
Thanks for the chuckles there, skippy.
2:15 I highly recommend going to your local pharmacy and ordering a roll of Tegaderm. It is waterproof and air proof. Little on the expensive side. I paid $50 CDN for my roll. Little tricky to use at first but once you get the hang of it, it is super easy to apply it.
(roll size is 4" x 111 yards so not doing the metric conversion)
This was a sponsorship of yours that I will not skip through. Thanks for supporting this kind of project. Our veterans deserve better than they get. Kudos to you, Tyler.
a sponsorship that helps and cherishes veterans.
unlike Canada...
Shouldn’t need to be paid to promote that
In the first box there was a Sleeve you put it around your neck. You was close. What that is if your around a lot of dust you put it over nose an down around you neck. Me and my family we ride are side by sides on a lot if gravel roads an out on lot of trails this keeps the dust out of your nose mouth. believe me they do work good.
Right bro it literally showed how to use right on it I hate when he does that calls something dumb but he’s the only dumb one

This is the first sponsor of tylers I havent skipped
Why did they call it a neck gaiter? There was already a word for that. It is also called a buff. It is actually extremely good to have for winter and for sun protection. I have a couple for hiking.
I imagine that tyler has just a bunker filled with battle boxes and when the apocalypse comes he goes down there and survives out of these boxes
I don't see him surviving any situation that requires him to use survival abilities.
@@Rottinblood maybe he would get lucky. He also has some decent equipment that would help a lot.

The Faraday cage bag is for people on house arrest, you put your foot in there and can walk around outside of the perimeter of your home without getting caught.

DD Hammock tarp is a tarp that’s 3 meters by 3 meters and you can use it as a rain fly or other tarp uses.
Have had mine for 11 years now and it still comes along for every trip. Great tarp!
Tyler you should do giveaways with the items you don’t want or don’t have any use for from these boxes. Would be pretty cool😊 that way you don’t have your garage filling up with junk lol
I’m so excited for this video 2 vids a week is awesome and they’re longer which is awesome too keep it up Tyler it’s greatly appreciated
As a kid we used to make a pocket shot with a small piece of pipe and the finger bit cut from a rubber glove. Fun times 😁
Everyone is painfully aware you have no use for books, fumbling to understand the most basic concepts is what makes the show. Love the channel!
The knife you were flinging around is a traditional puukko. Very nice knives from Scandinavia.
Books work when RUclips doesn't. If in a SHTF situation you're not going to have internet. Survival books are for that.
The black roap is called bank line. Lots of people use it for camping and Bush craft.
I have the Model bottle. It's great for Kayaking it doesn't roll around easily in my boat. The sylicone bottle makes your water taste nasty so bring some gateraid.
The faradaycage bag is also a dry bag again great for boating.
5:55 "and that just went through the insulation" got me soo hard
Same for me lol
Same🤣
I’m so glad I saw this video- I love the sponsor, and am going to buy a membership! We should all be aware of what our soldiers have to endure, not only when deployed- but for their entire life back as a civilian. They deserve so much- and so do families that have lost their loved ones who served.
The tarp is just for putting over a hammock to protect you from sun and rain. It also adds a bit of insulation to keep as much heat from escaping
Evening mate, nice gear. The D. D tarp is bloody useful. Thanks for sharing buddy, funniest video seen in ages. Tc Andy 👍😁🇬🇧✌️🇺🇸
It is actually called a "Guy" rope or guy line. It refers to a rope/cable used in the stabilization and/or secure tension applications. Power or "Telephone" poles will often have a cable attached to it that is anchored to the ground. That cable is called a "Guy Wire". 😃
The big boxes with few/little things is a joke. I hate companies that do that, just fill the box or put the small stuff in a smaller box. Make you think your getting some good stuff or alot of it. Wouldn't buy from them just for this reason.
Those bigger boxes had other things. Did you see the last bit of the video?
I figured he took some things out for other videos he plans on doing later
It seems like the boxes have been previously opened
His aversion to taste / textures, vegetables and books cracks me up
you make me laugh! i love how you got more & more fed up w the products w each passing box lol
It's meant for a "you've gotta eat this or die" situation so I'm sure the taste of the soup would be just fine 🙂
The battle bandage is made to treat a sucking chest wound
For real, if anyone is worried about survival, get an old Boy Scout "Field Book" and study it. Not the Hand Book. It's got everything you need to know to actually survive. Survival preparation is a lot more about learning what to do with what you have than it is about putting stuff aside for when you might need it. Too many people think if they have a big enough stash of luxuries, they'll be able to outlast whatever conflict is happening without having to alter their daily lives. That's why we (guys in my friend circle) tend to joke about not needing to stockpile things. Once the preppers starve, freeze, or die from oxygen deprivation trying to use their camp stoves, we can take their things.
Just signed up for the Til Valhalla Project. Thank you and thank them for sponsoring you so some of us could learn about their cause. Can't think of many better ways to spend my money.
I dig that square knife you opened up in the beginning of the video.
I am a pocket knife collector albeit very poor so I can't afford expensive knives. That square one is absolutely gorgeous to me. I cook A LOT at home and love using knives for cooking.
Knives for cooking, are better than shaving down a spoon to make a prison shiv.
@@johndavis4850 why are you mentioning a prison shiv? did i do something wrong?
@@xdirtyrandyx no it was sarcasm, you kids today call it satire. I was saying cooking with a knife 🔪 as opposed to a shiv gives the same results. Neither performs very well when used for cooking. Both can prepare you for what's coming next though.
@@johndavis4850 ahaha okay I get it now, I originally misread what you said.
my shivs for poking holes, my knife is for slicing meats, and my blades are for shaving whittling and self defense ;D
I know you have opened a lot of various packages of stuff. It would be amusing to see you use that thing to hold things on the back of your car seat and hang all your carabiners you have gotten just to show how many you have actually gotten. Start a running collection thing.
Not only are books great to reference in a survival situation when power or internet access isn't available. They could also be the thing that keeps you sane in a long term isolation. At the very least they are flammable.
I watch these for the comedy, and interesting products…but I always ask myself “why does he open battleboxes, intended for campers and survivalists, when he seems like neither?” Gotta love it.
Because this channel is about unboxing and reviewing things
@@jimyheffrey7336 my point was, I watch for the comedy, because he “reviews” items he seems to know nothing about. I’m all for it, but I wonder how many people by these products based on things that aren’t true. It would be like me (who knows nothing of sports but the bare minimum) reviewing bats, footballs, pads, etc…
I was litterally just thinking that
That's the humor. He is pretty clueless, but it's fun to watch him look at things, use them wrong, and then read the comments for the correct way.
Boxes of junk for those weirdos waiting for faeces to collide with a bladed rotary device.
Great vid 👍☺️🇦🇺
Tyler being surprised that the manufacturerss know how to use their own products absolutely kills me 🤣🤣🤣. No really though, I love Tyler’s content. Its great stuff. Entertaining and interesting
As a combat medic that is some cheaply made pressure bandage. Pressure bandages are used to stop non arterial bleeding and keep wounds covered. I see the clear plastic making an absolute mess and if it’s decent wrap it will cut off circulation where you don’t want it to. Could use the clear plastic as a chest seal for a punctured lung I would say though. Israeli bandages/compression bandages are pretty cheap don’t use that atrocious thing.
That zippo hand warmer is great! Lasts forever. I use it all the time at home because my hands are always freezing
Are you going to wear that toast shirt for every single video? I know you own more than one shirt...lol
Toast is life.
I just assumed he drank like 50 energy drinks and just started filming the next 40 videos before finally dropping into a deep sleep.
Its either that or the mr beast shirt
Maybe it’s his brand
I just choose to think he filmed the last 6 months of videos on the same day and has been chilling in Bermuda this whole time. Haha.
Bruh ... the books are for when the grid gets fried ... read them at the campfire 💡
He has a dry sense of humor that somehow avoids the obvious without appearing to, so I'll give him a pass on that.
I've seen him trying to start a fire. He's gonna be in the dark.
I've been supporting Til Valhalla for a few years now. Awesome company doing great work.
Those Decibullz earplugs are great! I use mine with a radio for communication on a security team. When ordinary plugs make transmissions difficult to hear, the isolation ones let traffic be heard even in the loudest of environments. They also make awareness and shooting buds too.
A 50 minute Wednesday video? Hell yes. Also, try some food subscription boxes.
Like what? Hello fresh stuff?
@@archangel1824 Bokksu would be interesting. They have lots of weird stuff
So basically you get all of the leftover stuff that can’t sell at a sports store, and a bunch of cheap Chinese knives
Watching these boxes being opened one at a time over the years made me think they were just ok. Seeing 8 opened at once confirms that 75 % of each box is overstocked surplus, and there's a reason for that
Just buy your stuff as needed at your preference
Excellent video also
That weird socket sheath is a very old design used in Europe and other place and has been around for hundreds of years so it must of been doing something right . I am interested in these battle Boxes I have seen several RUclipsrs talking about them or being sponsored and I always wondered what was in them as far as quality goes, Sadly I doubt I could get them here in Oz but it seems like there is a lot of very good quality stuff in them and most of it seems fairly useful.
You get all kinds of great knives to test on your channel. Do you have any idea how many are in your collection?
Love your channel.
Yes, Tyler, how many knives do you have? I would say, if you kept them all, about 100. Am I right?
Would love to see the same type of thing with some of the bespoke post boxes
Slits his arm open, opening the battle bandage with the “poker” knife 😂😂😂
That "Self Sufficiency Manual" book... A person might have the book in case thing happen that there is no longer internet to watch videos on how things are done. You know... the apocalypse. Sure you could learn all that stuff now before such an event happens, but you may possibly forget a good bit of the details later and that's why the _book_ is good to have.
I’d be extremely surprised if he knew how to turn the light switch on by himself in the mornings or understands how toilet paper works.
siri, turn on the lights
He knows. He watched a RUclips video on it.
I was a session drummer for years and used the decibulls wired headphones. They have the same moldable plastic and when done correctly are very comfortable for extended periods of time.
I was actually legitimately just thinking about you doing a big Battle Box haul...I binged your other videos...and this is like Christmas early for me lol yessssss
that hand warmer is pretty clutch for hunting or cold weather.
You should go camping but only bring mystery survival boxes and only use what comes in them :)
Please do a dollow up on the light strip head lamp. I've been interested in those
I work in the automotive industry and the shop foreman where I work swears by his. Bonus points because you look like a sci-fi mechanic 🤣
I’m an electrician and I use one, they are pretty badass, and yeah people say I look like robocop😂
😂😂😂😂 the neck gaiter is what fishermen wear to stay cool😂😂
A neck gator is for UV protection of the neck and face mostly and can be worn like a mask too usually you pull it up over your nose
I think those boxes are more hype than substance. How are you going to watch a video is there is no power or internet? You'll have to read a book.
Tyler is gonna be shocked when he goes camping and can't load his RUclips video. Books gonna be real handy then.
Then he would just poke his head out of the blankets and look it up on RUclips. "I'm camping!"
The neck sleeve is called a gater it is used as a mask that cover the lower face and neck
Keep doing these battleboxes, these are fun videos 🤙
Thanks for convincing me to never buy a battle box
LMAO! Read the instructions and say they don’t REALLY mean a metal spoon!!!! Bahahahahahaha enjoy your videos and look forward to the next.
I find the fact that they sent first aid packets to stop bleeding along with their knives both brilliant AND hilarious! 🤣🤣
I love how the spaghetti is still up there to this day
I don't fall for the battlebox scam.. I never understood the subscription boxes where people spend money on stuff and complain about what they get. Just buy the items you ACTUALLY want! 😂
I like them, it's like a surprise present from myself to myself and I don't even have to get drunk
I want that fillet knife lol
18:15: because in an SHTF scenario, the internet will be down... Isn't that what this package is for? lol!
I love you, man. Thank you for doing these videos for us. I know you’ll never see this but I felt like I should tell you this one. Thank you again and Rest In Peace to all the fallen.
Hunting knives like that one you got shouldn't be too sharp. The edge on a razor-sharp knife would roll or chip if you tried to use it on light brush, animal hide, or bone, all things you might encounter with a hunting knife.
In terms of hunting knives it depends in terms of skinning and things. There are knives that have swap out scalpel blades which are really good at cutting thru like deer hide. Generally you would pair it up with a hatchet for getting thru the bones like in the pelvis if quartering an animal.
Funny how you think there will always be internet and books are stupid.... or you're trolling us again 🙄
Tyler Tyler Tyler. The battle bandage is for treating/sealing off chest gunshot or knife wound.
I've got the folding fillet knife and cutting board and they work great. The knife could be a tiny bit sharper out of the box but other than that I've used it on some healthy red drum with scales on and it gets the job done no problem. Takes up no room on the 14ft jon boat for a strong day of fishing. Love those two products
Made my day when I seen you posted should post two times a week 🙏🙏
Videos with knives included are my favorite Tyler videos
That battle bandage is actually called a pressure bandage we use a different variation in the military but they are used for injuries that we can’t use tourniquets on like on your abdomen and you never never never touch the white part bc that’s risk for infection
i want to see Tyler go to Demo Ranch
We used to make something like that pocket shot as kids using the top of a 2L bottle and a balloon. We called them bean shooters
Those rechargeable hand warmers are beastly when you out deer hunting
Neck gaiters were a lifesaver during field training exercises in Colorado. It's a wonderful thing to have and I still wear one in the winter. Why be cold, amirite?
I have no idea how much one of these Battle Boxes goes for monetarily, however, I am guessing from what I observed from the contents of the eight boxes that COST FAR EXCEEDS CONTAINED VALUE! Thank you so very much Tyler for saving me the cost of a Battle Box subscription. Without a doubt I know one would be significantly better off (both money and quality wise) with merely a list of "tactical and survival" items to wit employing Tyler's "no books or reading" policy will result in acquiring said items being cheaper with preferred quality and only desired items.
the cheapest one is $35 and the most expensive is $170 a month.
