    I watched this on Friday, and I was skeptical. This Sunday got really hot, so I decided to try this instead of dealing with this heat. Thank you so much, because it’s absolutely unbelievable to me that something so simple actually fixed this without me having to call someone in. I don’t like to invite handymen into my home because I’m new to living alone because my husband passed away suddenly and I’m also new to being on a single income household budget. I can’t thank you enough! ❤

    Sooo glad this was the first video that was listed. The website I looked at was talking about removing panels and unplugging drip line, which I will eventually do, but this was an immediate low cost fix at 3 a.m. It's kind of weird though, the a/c unit slings the water around to cool off the compressor, and it IS doing that, as it's spraying a bit of water outside and it is dripping from that, but I guess there's more water than it can effectively sling.

    I was looking around and can’t find an answer. With a window unit like yours, is it normal for the evaporator coils in the front, right behind the filter, to leak water, even if it’s not coming into the house?

    • @YeahBuddy
      @YeahBuddy  3 года назад +3

      Yes. The evaporator coils end up collecting a lot of condensation from a mix of the hot air, moisture, and cool air from the AC. The condensation collects until it reaches a point where it drips down into the tray at the bottom of the AC unit. Based on the angle of installation or how dirty the ac unit is the water will either roll into the house or out the back of the unit. Hope this helps.

    But then it started leaking from the other side. The thing is when they installed my AC in my window they put brackets so it won’t move. I’m on the second story and I can’t get to the other side or take out the AC to put a paper towel on the other side 😭
    Thank you for this video tho! It does work!

    I think a better simple permanent fix would be put a block of wood underneath the bottom at the front of the A/C unit. Wood should be about 1 inch thick, 2-3 inches long, 1 inch wide. Hey you can even use a small hard cover book that's an inch thick if you aint got wood lol. The purpose is to tilt the unit at a slight angle rather than having it laying it flat out the window. Once you tilt it, the front should be higher than the backend so any water inside will automatically drips out at the back. Its gravity at work. I think any A/C unit with water leaking or dripping inside into your room is because the unit is not tilted properly. Once tilted correctly, there should be no need for bounty, lol.

    • @YeahBuddy
      @YeahBuddy  3 года назад +5

      Totally agree with your comment. This would be a permanent fix, perhaps. Simple? That is in the eye of the fixer and the physical constraints of the window in which the AC is installed. My window had major horizontal leveling issues, which would have required to plug gaps if I would have re-leveled it. Hind site being 20/20, it should have been leveled when I installed it, but it wasn’t. I assume a lot of people are in a similar boat. Thus there option is to:
      1. Reinstall and level the AC
      2. Stick a paper towel in it
      3. Deal with it
      Either way, I appreciate your insights and agree with your solution but not the characterization of “simple”.

      Hi Ed! Thanks for commenting. Cleaning out leaves and debris is a smart idea. Some AC units have a hole that they drain through and some don’t. Depending on the humidity, it might blow some water (not much). If it is leaking from the bottom, the drip tray is full and you’ll need to reposition or put in the paper towel like in my video. Hope this helps. Please subscribe!

      Amazing! Oh yeah, it’s a little simple and shocking, but this works. Thanks and hope you have a dry inside now!

    But what about to stop to dripping outside is that possible?

      I think that is where the AC is supposed to drip. You could put a cup or container under the paper towel or hose. What do you think?

    Hey im just coming up with an idea what if i use a thin towel or hanky woudnt that even obsorb more water since its cotton

      Either would work just fine! Probably the same principle! The good news is that once the towel is soaked, it starts dripping, so, doesn’t seem to matter how absorbent it is. Thanks for watching! Hope it worked for you!

    Does it matter which side? I assume it has to be on the side that is leaking

      No, as long as you get the paper towel in the water pan. Ideally you get it in the low side.
