    The hardness of bearings can be very different, I would like to see the wear test done in a different spot on the exact same bearing for each comparison. Maybe 180° offset from each other.

    This isn’t statistically independent data or testing. Nobody ever does a single trial and determines a winner from that. You MUST run each experiment at LEAST 3 times but really 5 is better. Otherwise too many variables which can result in sources of error. Thanks for sharing the video though :)

The only real difference is that the Liqui Moly is formulated for the sulphur and ash requirements that European vehicles need. The past film strength tests for Liqui moly are as follows: .01g, .04g, .10g. So obviously this test should be disregarded given how inconsistent it is. But the efficiency test seems to be pretty reliable: 3.9, 4.0, 4.01 amps. It would be cool to see an excel sheet with these different measurements so we can see the best in each category and then can weigh the price/performance ratio.

Compare them for wear. Cheers

    Always love these kind of tests. "Best" could still be subjective due to multiple variables, but at least it gives a good idea for consumers of which the top half are vs. the bottom. That said, a couple years later, think we could get a followup recap video, with a ranked list of the results? Like Pennzoil barely lost to Amsoil in rd. 1, but very well may have still performed better then much of the field?
    Maybe even retest the top 3 or 4 against any new comers, or new brand technologies making bold claims?

    • @samgoody6109
      @samgoody6109 2 года назад

      Maybe with the head2head done, take the "true" final 4, the four that had the best empirical data numbers regardless of which round, and take 4 bottles of each, and do 4 of each test, incl. 4 four-way pour tests, and compile averages to see which performs best consistently.

At that time, conventional oil in siberia was always like t a r before engine start -> no chance of a real good start (They had to put

    With the new invention of the talented chemists it now was a "Kinderspiel" ;D

    Nate, it does appear that the wear scars are very close in size, but way off in weight difference. I might suggest doing this championship face off of M1 and LM again. This is the only time I've seen some in inconsistency in your testing.

      NATES INTERACTIVE AUTO I’m not sure other than trying to reproduce the same conditions for each test. There never will be a perfect test, but trying to eliminate most of the variables will help to make the test more accurate. One thing we know from this competition, is that LiquiMoly and Mobil1 are excellent oils.

  • @LORDgregz1

    I don't believe your test... It's to confusing... The way you choose oil is unfair... You should choose the High End Oil from each company/ each brand then do the test... High End vs High End oils and Not High End vs Low End it's just unfair to the other oils...

    I put little value in home garage testing such as this one or hmm, the Bundy charcoal grill heat test. Pathetic. Professional testing for me. Viewers, Do not base your buying decisions on this test alone. Research with the mfg's data sheets or industry lubricant testing facilities. Sorry Nate. Your not the final word here. Mobil 1 and the like are good products and I am sure with proper maintenance they all will do the task fine. I prefer Liqui Moly products. They have been in the game the longest. Their oil certifications are extreme. USA lubricant mfg's would never pass German certifications. Liquid Moly easily passes the USA API certs. Liquid Moly base oil stocks are highly consistent thanks to critical procurements and quality testing systems. USA oil mfgs. Are not. Quite inconsistent from one oil stock to another. What this means the state side synthetic oil you put in your crank next oil change may not have may not have the same properties as before.. Same goes for their additives. USA additives are hyped marketing snake oil for the the most part. The difference you ask? Liquid Moly additives advertized do exactly what they claim. I am not a Liquid Moly rep or associated with them. Just a real customer with facts based on real world usage who prefers their products. Motor On!

      @Christopher George Agree. I’ve been using Liqui Moly products, including oils, additives and cleaners and have always noticed the difference. I used to be a fan of Mobil1 but after working at a Toyota Dealership, I started to see how bad Mobil1 is with oil consumption. So yes, Mobil1 can be a good oil but why does that matter if it burns. Liqui moly is used in vehicles that have extreme heat conditions and does a great job with it.

All 6 prior oil changes were done at the dealer so now I'm curious what oil (in bulk) they use for the FA20DIT. The LM stuff is islac gf6 and the FA20DIT is spec'd for gf5....ironically, my 04 GTI loved LM 5w-40 which is why I wanted to try it in the wrx. Guess I need another plan....
