I am a life long practicing Buddhist. Primarily in the Ch'an/Zen tradition, which was heavily influenced by Chinese Taoism.
Loving your vids so far. You describe non-attachment well here. Compassion is one of the keys for non-attachment not becoming detachment.
Gurdjieff was adamant about the accuracy of words. For instance he didn't like using the word ego, because in Ancient Greek ego meant the true self. Gurdjieff used the terms false personality and true personality. According to Gurdjieff false personality was at best useless, at worst destructive. True personality, while still not the True Self, was in service of the True Self, but still an illusion. Self Observation was one of his primary methods.
Gurdjieff primarily studied in Sufi schools, but also spent 5 years studying in Tibet. None of this is to correct or contradict anything you say here, but only to add to it.
"There is no good. There is no evil. The only sin is identification." - Gurdjieff
