    I bought my first Thompson Chain back in 1973, and at that time their premium Bible cost $90. I was so happy with this Bible that I gave both my Father and Sister a copy. When I saw this edition I was shocked with joy. The larger font and the use of colors to enhance the division in the Bible. This update is truly a blessing.

    They removed several key features, screwed up a few sections, making it good for reading only. Not to worry....if you want the ORIGINAL, Church Bible Publishers still has them for sale and I bought one to replace my worn out hardcover. I will stay away from Zondervan after watching the 4-part video series which went into depth here on RUclips of why you should stay away from this perversion. Sorry to be so blunt, but, Mr Thompson would want his name removed from this if he were alive.

    Serif font was very important… it looks great! I hope they keep that for the NKJV & NASB. I also really hope they include the footnotes in the NASB. I use them all the time in my NAS77 TCR. I think it would actually be a deal-breaker for me if they weren’t included. Thank you for the review. The paper and print looks phenomenal!

      You probably heard my comment about noticing how long some reviewers took to show the text. I didn't expand on that much, but some were taking 15 minutes or more. I watched an 18-minute video where the reviewer never opened the Bible once. Of course, you could be referring to something else entirely. I'll have to check what happened at the 1-minute mark. lol

    Hiya Randy. The Thompson chain is my all time favorite bible. I was very excited when I heard that Zondervan was going to redo it and clean it up a bit. I had my heart set on the kjv releasing in November with the premium edition as well, as I wanted their new comfort print. I was hearing before the release that they were removing the archaeological supplement, translator notes and the tress of life I believe, as well as, the red letter edition and maybe more subtractions too. I was very disappointed that so much has been removed. The big one was no red letter, which, is a big thing for me. Maybe they will put it in this edition later on, here's hoping! By the way you do a great job in your presentations! Thank you!

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  Год назад

      I personally prefer the Thompson. It has much less theological bias and I like the topics in the margins. The Open Bible has a good index, but it almost feels separate from the biblical text.

    • @Giancarlo_1997
      @Giancarlo_1997 Год назад

      also you would say its not to good for church Bible studies and sermons??

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  Год назад

      @@Giancarlo_1997 no, I mean it's not integrated into the text like the TCR's topics are. The Bible text in the Open Bible is a reference edition that doesn't link to the index in any way. The only thing in the text are a few study notes, that is also a separate tool from the index.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  Год назад +1

      @@Giancarlo_1997 it's actually great for sermons and Bible study. I just prefer the Thompson's approach. Instead of having theological definitions in the tools, it just provides lists of verses on each topic. This allows Scripture to interpret Scripture as non-biased as possible. It's not perfect, but it works really well. Both Bibles are good choices, though. I just personally prefer the TCR because of the way it works.
