Bro I was worried. And then I saw you get called out on a stream. Homie told you to release your video already, and I knew everything was gonna be alright :)
Have I ever heard of Jax and Dexter? No. Have I ever owned a Playstation console? No. Am I going to watch this entire 2 hour video on the subject? Absolutely.
Not only that but he wrote a masterpiece for a RUclips video about a largely forgotten video game series. I greatly appreciate the hard work that was put into this too because Jak and Daxter has been my favorite video game franchise for a solid 20 years.
What are you talking about you know how much skippblencontent is on here so much filler...if I could edit this video I would cut down the content to 25 min
Was practically dying of cancer when this first dropped, never got a chance to help your algorithm by making a comment saying thanks for making a vid on a franchise near and dear to my heart growing up. This was something that in its own little way helped make a particularly painful treatment tolerable. So, thanks for having enough love for something close to your heart that you were able to remind me of my own love for it during a tough time. Happily cancer free and rewatching this again with a clearer head and it's still just as great! Thanks again for another walk down memory lane!
@@BREADSWORD thanks for your effort in this vid. The amount of love and care you put into it shows brilliantly. After all, I'm so glad I'm not the only one as a kid who just 180'd on Wrath of Cortex for Jak and Daxter lmaoo
I think the greatest part about Jak 2 and 3 is that I genuinely forgot where Jak 2 ended and where 3 started. Not because I forgot the ending but because they blended so perfectly together that I thought that I was playing one large game. It felt so real and natural that I just played them like they were the same story all in one.
It more or less is. The 3rd game also mirrors the threat from the first game’s plot, Gol wanted to reshape the world with dark eco, the same ambition of the Dark Makers.
@@JakenTheGreat Yeah, but Im only talking about the 3 first Ratchet and Clank games. in your logic the jak games is not a trilogy either since jak X and Final frontier psp port counts as well. So technically there are 4 jak games and 1 port of a psp game on the ps2.
As a kid I didnt have wireless internet until well into the PS3’s lifecycle. This franchise was the first one I got invested in and loved, and I spent so much time playing around in it. I wasnt online at all, so I had nobody to talk to about with regard to my love of the series. In 6th Grade Social Studies I met this kid who also picked “Samos” as the Greek island he wanted to present on because he had also played Jak. This guy loved the franchise even more than I did, going so far as to eventually build his own custom skateboard with Jak and Daxter on it with some precursor flair. I think he even had a Jak statue on his desk in college, something to keep him going while he tried to get a degree in game design. The last time I saw him was while playing Pokemon Go with some friends during that summer it released. We were doing runs in the historic district of town, which this guy lived in, and we actually ran into him while he was out skating on his Jak board. That fall semester he was hospitalized and later passed away after being struck by a car on campus while boarding. When the ports came out for PS4, I made damn sure to platinum TPL for him. I always love when videos like this get made. It reminds me of him, but it also reminds me that there is so much love both in how this franchise was constructed and in how its remembered.
I just realized the line "Every bone in my body tells me that the answers rest on the shoulders of a young boy", answers the question "Who were the precursors?" It can be interpreted as Daxter, literally on Jak's shoulder. The precursors were Ottsels, just like Daxter was turned into in the intro cutscene... 🤯
"This shit plays like a Sasuke AMV looks" might be the best thing I've ever heard. And your analysis on Dark Jak has begged me to add some nuggets, as well. Jak didn't just harness dark eco, he sort of inadvertently became the new sage of it, at least in some semblance. In a world clear of those who remember eco's spiritual application, Jak, someone from the distant past, brings it back in its purest form as violence. Oppressive eco for an oppressive world.
Fun stuff. I worked as a sound designer on Jak3. I remember spending a lot of time balancing out the quality of sounds that I could create with the amount of memory space allotted to be able to use them. All of the PS2's disc streaming resources were 100% allocated to graphics so we had to maintain pretty much every single sound asset in resident memory (around a paltry 500K) and a single load point for tiny level-specific swap-outs at the beginning of levels. Very challenging... even Daxter on the first PSP was more flexible in that regard. Then came the XBox360 and I never had to worry about that stuff anymore. It definitely made me a more clever sound designer tho!
That's so cool! Sound is one of those things that doesn't get appreciated enough, it's so crucial to building the world and really making it immersive -- I guess you could say a good sound designer ironically goes under the radar. Thank you for your creative work!!
I can't believe I just now saw this! That is so cool! Please know your work didn't go by unappreciated as I and countless others absolutely adore the sound design of the game!
@@K-11609 ratchet and clank never stopped receiving games, this isn't like sly cooper or jak, that got stuck in their era with excellent games, ratchet kept moving forward Don't get me wrong, i would actually pull out the big bucks for a jak 4, but comparing jak with ratchet is setting him up for failure, i wouldn't even go with spyro being a good comparison to jak
This is quite possibly both the best video ever, and the most accurate representation of what Jak and Daxter, and video games as a whole mean to me and so many other people. Thank you for this.
I find it funny that Keira never realised that it was Jak she was talking to from behind the curtain because she had never heard jak speak before and doesn’t know what he sounds like. And it was only until daxter spoke that she recognised them
WIth that though why didnt jack realise that was keira cus i did the first time i played. well i wasnt sure but i remember saying "wait is that keira" the first time i sore it. and if i someone who only really heard her speek a few times in jack 1 can recognise her then someone who spent most of there life with her should deffently have known her voice. i mean for crist sake it breaks enough its not like its a voice you really forget
I suffer from pretty intense depression. I sometimes feel entirely cut off from joy in my life. This video reminded me that I was happy once, and I can be happy again. Thanks.
That absolutely warmed my heart, Never really realized how much these games influenced my tastes and perceptions. The last 10 min literally had me tearing up, it's nice to be reminded why we love video games.
Yeah I genuinely teared up in the last few minutes. Life is good. The pale blue dot. Perfect circles. And that line in Jak 3 that never ceases to hit: "Are you ready Jak, we have something to show you." "What?" "The universe."
28:45 made me a little teary eyed. Games like this really did teach us to stop and enjoy life. I find myself stopping to appreciate rocks, trees and natural scenery all of the time and I can't help but to think that this game had a part in developing that habit. I've seen the lake hundreds of times, but each visit is just as sweet. Same with visiting ol' Sandover Village. 🖤 Anyways. I'll shut up now and keep listening. Loving it so far!!
And from the sky he bequeathed us a sword made of bread, and we were grateful. The mighty BREADSWORD is back, and somehow he managed to make another instant classic...truly amazing.
@@dvda9725 how dare people wanna play the game now?! The should get themselves a PS2 and the origin games instead of being able to play them on their already existing modern console. Not to mention, that the insane trilogy is like even better then the og crash, available on every damn console
@@TheThursty100 Well let's see, the Jak series has had HD remasters on both PS3 and PS4, and it wouldn't surprise me if they do the same for PS5 too. Not that those are the ideal way to play the game, people *SHOULD* play the PS2 originals, but the games are perfect how they are, they don't need stupid remakes. And no, you moronic consoomer, the Crash remakes are *NOT* better than OG Crash. They're an ugly abomination.
@@dvda9725 an insane trilogy reinvention of jak would be wonderful, the world of jak may be stylized abd doesn't need last gen graphics to be good but it doesn't mean that it shouldn't have those graphics, can you imagine how visually astonishing a world like jak's could be in ps5
Thank you for the video. I listened to it on a long walk. :> (by the way, I'm not sure if this was addressed somewhere I missed, but Daxter *is* very, very technically playable throughout the majority of Jak II and 3. He fires guns while Jak is busy driving)
You already had me going with this whole retrospective, but the ending montage really topped it off for me. As hard as we often find it to believe, we really do live in a blessed time where video games not only have the capacity to exist as art, but where we're able to appreciate them as such. Thank you for this affirmation for my love of games, let alone one of my favorite video games of all time.
Precursor has left one of the biggest impacts on my life of any 00s era game. Making a Jak cosplay is also one of my best experiences as a cosplayer too. Seeing others get excited about this often forgotten game is wonderful, so as a fellow fan, thank you for making such a great video on this series.
Anyone else try watching for 30 minutes, then 30 minutes later you look at the timer and your an hour and half in? Honestly this Single creator has changed the way I look at anything in pop culture. Can't sing enough praises about this content.
The vision that naughty dog wanted to achieve of an open world platformer with high quality cutscenes and characters to drive the story was just....an ingenious idea....a revolutionary take on game. With every new Jack and Daxter game I personally feel they got closer and closer to their original vision. My personal favorite is Jack and Daxter 2 but I do think 3 was "the best" this was a time where every new development improved the quality of the series not milking the original story. Always they developed always they added more to bring that open world platformer to life. I grew to love and pity some of the characters. I cried when the journey was over. I replayed the trilogy as a whole at least 10 times over. This series....The progression of the series...it's beautiful. This was a different time and I am thankful to you for reminding me of my younger days.
See I agree with every point except one. I actually am opposite of you in the sense that I actually think Jak II is the objectively better game, but my favorite one to play is 3 LOL I believe the story and emersion is al little more fleshed out in 2, but 3 is a more fun game to simply jump into whenever you want and play. I literally to this day will play Jak 3 just to fly and drive 🤣
Love the Jak and Daxter games one of the first games I ever played. They were super influential. This video was also amazing which I’m sure a lot of work went into it so I say thank you for making it. Always glad to see other people love the games as much as I do
The end of this video got me. I still play these to this day because my dad and I played them together, and he passed when I was 6, so I still feel close to him when I play. I play Jak 3 in his honor since he didn't live to see it, and the Damas and Jak end always hits particularly hard. But these games are a masterpiece, and will hold a place in my heart until my dying day. Even The Lost Frontier, for all it's issues. These games are a part of me.
The fisherman's challenge was something 5 year old me, my twin sister, and my dad couldn't beat. Yet my mom who had never touched a video game in her life and has no skill for them now, beat it on her FIRST TRY.
Another breadsword sword, another bout of tears. Seriously, your observations and the set up with which you present them, mixed with your perfect editing, sound and music choices and a narration that feels intimate - like I'm talking with a friend - always leave me with genuine tears at how beautiful story telling can be in all kinds of media. I had a very similar experience growing up with these games and they molded my own skills and preferences for storytelling so I was so excited and happy to see you talk about them. I urge you to never stop doing what you do, because it really does make people happy and your efforts are recognized. Thanks from a little kid who would always look out at the stormy sea from the docks of Rock Village and wonder about the world. 🖤
That’s crazy, I never noticed the clothing similarities around his hand/arm between Damos and Jak. I just figured most people did that but upon reflection it seems you’re right. And then the delivery of Jak realizing he’s his son, heart sinks. I’ll always love this Trilogy. This video just adds more to a story I loved watching, playing, being curious about as to the whole time travel thing, his name being Mar. I never even thought about how the symbol of Mar is a ying yang.
You know when you suddenly smell some scent you haven't encountered since your childhood and you feel that strangely comforting sting of nostalgia swirl throughout your body and tickle the back of your neck? And you spend the next few moments reminiscing? That's what this video makes me feel but it's 2 hours long. Great video
I often felt like Jak and Daxter was criminally underrated. It's my favorite video game series, followed by Borderlands. Jak and Daxter is also the first game series I was able to beat and complete 100%, so that's partially why it's forever a piece of my gaming heart.
I still haven't gotten 100% on the original, it's the 2 hardest power cells to get. The one right outside the spider cave where you have to get the yellow eco and shoot the box at the entrance of the cave and then the last big crystal in the cave. Never got to see the opening of the big vault because of it and only saw that scene because of the second game. 😭
It's a literal crime that Naughty Dog went on to exclusively do Uncharted games, like you didn't lose the rights to Jak and Daxter. At an time you wanted to you could make Jak 4, a _real_ *Jak IV.* Then they started The Last of Us, just to prove they can handle running to serieses concurrently... specifically to piss me off. Well, probably not me, specifically, I'm a Nintendo simp... but the broad demographic of people who enjoy platform games.
@@Wendy_O._Koopa Actually there were plans for Jak 4 there was even concept art that you can find on RUclips. Supposedly it was supposed to be a continuation/gritty reboot. But it ultimately fell apart
@@Drums_of_Liberation Well, my statement still stands. At any point they pretty much only need the desire to start the project again. In the real world, it's a bit more complicated than that, they have to convince shareholders or something; but they've done it before, they can do it again.
That montage towards the end really brought tears to my eyes and broke me down. It's beautiful seeing all the different games shown off like that. Thank you.
Daxter is my personal favorite video game companion/sidekick. If it weren't for his commentary/jokes in the 1st game I probably wouldn't have enjoyed playing it since Jak didn't talk. His spin off game actually shows that he is capable of being a hero in his own right and a comic relief character can have dramatic moments. In the 2nd game we actually got to see his and Jak's relationship develop and we actually see why they are such good friends/heroic duo. And the 3rd game brought their friendship to the test when Daxter stood by Jak when no one else would and he got his happy ending getting his glory, girl, and pants. Oh, and let's just all agree that the last 2 games aren't relevant to their story!
Why did I tear up at the end feeling every emotion you were talking about lol I'ma grown man but it spoke to me as a child also growing up with jak and Daxter
I absolutely adore Jak and Daxter. I played them so much when I was a kid. To this day in my early 20s and I can still put on the Sandover Village soundtrack from the first game and feel like crying. I miss those games and my childhood so much.
7:06 "I put the disk in the tray, nudged the little blue button...and it worked" Goosebumps and nostalgia 14:50 "I pushed the left stick forward and jak began to run! The crunching of grass and sand beneath his feet as he bounded forward...I ran to the beach to see the ocean and just started running...this was enough...on its own. I fell in love with video games right here on this beach." Crying 1:15:04 "the darkness in jak doesn't make him any less of a hero in the same way the darkness in haven doesn't make it any less a home" Mind blown and crying again This was an ode to the trilogy but also to video games too. You put to words so many of my emotions. You for masterfully putting to words so many of my childhood memories and emotions. I feel like I have found my inner child again. Thank you. Sincerely.
Don’t be discouraged by the current view count! It looks like the algorithm was unkind to you on this one; it didn’t pop up in my usual suggestions :/ this is evergreen content though, so I’m sure it’ll eventually gain the audience it deserves :) good stuff
The 'Collateral' in Jax 2 was even obvious to me as a kid. It was so hard to NOT hit people, it dawned on it that it had to be intentional. Thereafter, I swore I would NEVER use another vehicle. And save for missions, I didn't. And in missions I always reset if I ran over a pedestrian.
wow! i thought i wouldn't want to sit here and watch 2 hours worth of someone's opinion but i not only did, i shared the video to my son (and probably his brothers when they get home from work) i also got Jak and Daxter as a Christmas present in 2002. my boys spent their time watching mommy play this game, enjoying Daxter's antics and the whole story line. (still have a hilarious story about learning about the lurker fish the hard way and my son's reaction to said lurker fish to share). which lead to getting Jak II and the huge surprise that it turned out to be! followed quickly by getting Jak III. to say this trilogy made a mark on our lives is an understatement. even to the point that in 2008 my son got a shih tzu dog and named him Jak and in 2011 a rat terrier and named him Daxter, who both lived up to their naughty dog status (Jak passed in Sept of 2020 :'( but Dater is still with us) my boys are grown but still love Jak and Daxter Thank you for making this video
It is actually insane how similar our childhoods were and our interests then and now. It's like I'm watching myself in a different universe make video essays about my favorite things.
I cannot truly describe how enamored I am with Jak and Daxter. I first played a demo of it in a Walmart and the vibrant colors and cartoony action drew me into its world. When I finally got a PlayStation 2, it was the very first PS2 game I got. And I played it over and over again. Of all the games I've ever played, this one was the purist magic for me. Commiserating with your story of such a profoundly impactful part of my childhood was a real blessing. Thank you.
I don't know how many hours I spent just flying around the dunes of Jak 3 on my hover board or in a buggy... The sense of speed and joy of movement was just sublime.
Crazy how both fell in love with games on the same exact day, on the same exact year, on the same exact island, without knowing how shared the experience it was.
I'm just now realising Samos knew they were gonna go into the future and that's why he told Jak to find himself (the kid). I thought he was just saying some hippy sage shit 🤣 damn.
This was beautifully written and delivered. I love your perspective on this, with heavy emphasis on the themes and emotions involved. I really appreciated how you talked about Baron Praxis, his character and how complex and nuanced he is despite how you see him from Jak's perspective. I can recall the emotional impact the scene at the construction site had on me as a kid. Spending the whole game being built up to hate Baron Praxis as a pure evil dictator, who we are meant to defeat and kill ourselves, only to watch him go out as a hero trying to defend the city against a greater Evil that was pretending to be our friend and ally the whole time. Great job dude
Dude you hit it all on the head. this was absolutely incredible The Jak games are my fondest memories of my childhood and I still play them today on a ps2 at 25 years old. My mom never liked video games so my dad and I would go into the cold garage with a propane heater to play Jak and Daxter on a small sony tv. Thank you for this video this series deserves it.
“I’ve risked my tail, literally, to save YOU! I’ve been looking for you for 2 years, say something, just this once!” “I’m gonna kill Praxis!” My heart stopped, not only did he talk for the first time, but he sounds badass
I'll never forget the impact of those first words of video game protags. "Aw yeah! This is happenin'!" "It's-a me, Mario!" *"I'M GONNA KILL PRAXIS!"* Such beautiful lines. Brings a tear to the eye.
What’s funny is that I was hanging out yesterday and I was like “I wonder what breadsword is up to?” My question has been properly answered. Thank you.
3 years later and this video is as immaculate as ever. I hate to come back after years and see your channel dormant, but you’ve always been able to explain things that i’ve felt in a way i never could. This was great and so is your whole catalog, I hope you’re doing well
I watched the whole thing in one go and I cried at the end. Never thought a video game analysis commentary video would make me tear up. Wonderful job capturing one of my favorite games as a child.
I've missed your content and I hope you've been doing okay in life. Your art has brought me comfort on many nights, allowed me to think of things differently, and just chill out with a really cool person for hours on end. Keep grooving my guy.
Unfortunately, I never played any of them (With the exception of a Jak 3 demo) until a couple of years ago, well past the point of childhood development. Instead I had Ratchet and Clank 3 and Deadlocked, among many other wonderful PS2 IPs like War of the Monsters. After playing them, I really wish I could send a message to myself in the past to get these games so I could have that nostalgia for them. Legendary.
I didn't expect this video to make me feel emotional and to walk away more hopeful. Nice work. I really wish Naughty Dog gave us one more canonical adventure showing us how Mar/Jak left behind such a legacy.
They say a great work of art leaves you wanting more. On that note, I think I have to come to terms with the fact that they're never going to tell us what the hell was up with that green star. Absolutely great video.
It’s 2021 and I’m so glad videos on this game are still coming out and with as much views as this too. I’m 25 now and I’m replaying the trilogy again for the 20th time and I haven’t had this much fun with a video game in so long, not to say I don’t game anymore because I do play all the modern games but something about these older games hits different. The Jak trilogy is comfortable and had soul, I miss games like this. I feel like most of the games on the ps2 were passion projects and maybe that’s why it is the highest selling console. I hope we have games that we can play that make us feel like a kid again (excited to get home and play for the gameplay and story alone I mean). We really had the best childhood. Thanks for the great video on one of my favorite games ever.
I feel super special because I didn't find the fishing minigame difficult my first time playing. Given I didnt discover the games till I was an adult but for me that mini game was like "1 round to feel the controls, 1 round to finish it"
I replayed the game again recently, was completely prepared to be destroyed by the fishing mini game over and over... and then I did it first try. That muscle memory has been ready and waiting to go for ten years
No idea why this video came up in my recommendeds, since I've never heard of your channel or watched anything remotely like this before now. But holy shit am I glad that it did. That was a two hour nostalgia bomb that had me laughing and crying throughout (with a brief tinge of repressed rage at being reminded of the GODDAMN FISHING GAME). I just wanted to say thank you for making this work of art, you wonderful human being. Truly, thank you.
This almost brought me to tears many times. Jak and Daxter was my first childhood game I played and I have so many fond memories of it. Thank you for this masterpiece of a video.
this is me telling you to never delete this video because it is my favorite video on the internet ever, the intro makes me cry without fail and i watch the whole thing every single time
I'm 15 min in and trying not to cry, I know I'm not alone in saying that every step, every moment, and feeling you described (so far) that was me too. You talking about how you just jumped around in the first scene of the game nearly broke me because of how relatable and nostalgic it was
Maybe a loop you overlooked in your analysis: By making like you mentioned the "age gating" dexterity tests, Naughty dog also puts you through a little montage of your own improvement. None of them are particularly hard, but it'll take a lot of grinding or just better dexterity to beat those mini-games. You have to keep throwing yourself at the gameplay, either across small or long stretches of time, to continue to see the plot unfold. So in that way, we're living in each of those timelines where Jak fails, but we also get to see the one where he finally succeeds and we get to reap the reward of being the hero, of seeing more of this world, of answering its mysteries. I can't tell you how it felt, probably five years after having started playing those games, finally going through the final cutscene in Jak 3. It felt like I'd lived the life of a hero. I finally created the world where goodness wins. Is the point of the story sorta simple? Maybe, but goddamn if I don't feel like Mar at the end of 3. They did everything right.
Little bit of trivia, apparently the guy who directed Jak 2 only played one game while directing it and assumed that it was what games were like these days. The game was Shadow the Hedgehog. Which explains a lot about the game
I'm so glad this video exists, Jak and Daxter was my first "real" video game also. It means so much to me and I really think about this series all the time. I'm really glad there is someone out there that sees the same stuff I do.
1:50:39 My man, the statues aren't talking about the sequel. They're pretty straightforward in being about the same game their in. The first one says that Jak has "the light within" and is the "true hero," which just means "yeah you're gonna save the day kid." The second one talks about how Daxter's form and fate has already been twisted by dark eco, hinting at how maybe Daxter's transformation isn't just physical. The third one says to seek the "pure light" aka light eco, "for within it's flame the answers reside." This is after Gol and Maia are (formally) introduced and identified to the characters, and is basically just saying that a "pure light" will solve their problem, which at the end of the game gets elaborated by Daxter saying light eco could maybe change him back, or be used to stop Gol and Maia. The answers to their problems, daxter's transformation, and the oncoming end of the world, lie in light eco. Granted, it's entirely possible someone writing the second or third game remembered these and made it a fun bit of retroactive forshadowing.
What I thought I was gonna get: yeah this games story is pretty cool What I got: A bit of Me is in everything I enjoy, and that means that in a way, a part of me will exist forever
Man, I knew I liked you. My favorite under appreciated movie was what got me on your channel and now my favorite under appreciated games?!?! You sir, have excellent taste
Saw this pop up in my subs and knew lost 2 hours of my day in an instant lol. I've finished Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy more times than any other game I've ever played. I think I've beat it like 20+ times and half of those are 100% runs. That game brings me such a feeling of peace and accomplishment to play and I grew up with the trilogy as it matured. Seriously one of the most under-appreciated major game franchises and SO deserving of this kind of analysis. Loved every minute of it!

It more or less is. The 3rd game also mirrors the threat from the first game’s plot, Gol wanted to reshape the world with dark eco, the same ambition of the Dark Makers.

Ratchet & Clank isn't a trilogy. It had 4 games on Playstation 2. 6 if you count the PSP ports of size matters and secret agent clank.
@@JakenTheGreat Yeah, but Im only talking about the 3 first Ratchet and Clank games. in your logic the jak games is not a trilogy either since jak X and Final frontier psp port counts as well. So technically there are 4 jak games and 1 port of a psp game on the ps2.
And also Playstation 1 with the Crash and Spyro trilogy.

That is a really touching story. So sorry for your loss.

Ah shit.
*Cj* Awwww shit. Here we go again
Just as Gol did. But unlike Gol, this time the sage has conviction and he never lost his soul.
@@rinabobina9905 there’s kind of a saying in sound that you’ve done your best work when nobody notices. I kinda like being the hidden magician. :)

I find it funny that Keira never realised that it was Jak she was talking to from behind the curtain because she had never heard jak speak before and doesn’t know what he sounds like. And it was only until daxter spoke that she recognised them
I never noticed that!
Its great storytelling!
Such an interesting attention to detail, if I say so myself!
Gotta love attention to detail.

The contrast of what was Jak and Daxter's final boss and Jak 3's first boss just in different hands is a nice touch.

No. It's great the way it is, it doesn't need that stupid shit.

@@TheThursty100 Well let's see, the Jak series has had HD remasters on both PS3 and PS4, and it wouldn't surprise me if they do the same for PS5 too. - This video is perfect
- I want to play those games again!
Seeing others get excited about this often forgotten game is wonderful, so as a fellow fan, thank you for making such a great video on this series.
yoo thank you so much!!

@@TheDandyMann jump and shoot that yellow eco for the one outside the spider cave. No need to aim. Good luck 🍀

Thank you.
I never knew a video about Jak and Daxter could make me openly cry. Thank you this masterpiece

DAXTER IS SO FIRE I LOVE HIM
Daxter on psp is technically the 2nd last game unlessbyour talking jak x
Why did I tear up at the end feeling every emotion you were talking about lol I'ma grown man but it spoke to me as a child also growing up with jak and Daxter
And here I thought Eyepatch Wolf was the king of melodramatic openings.
I absolutely adore Jak and Daxter. I played them so much when I was a kid. To this day in my early 20s and I can still put on the Sandover Village soundtrack from the first game and feel like crying. I miss those games and my childhood so much.

wow! i thought i wouldn't want to sit here and watch 2 hours worth of someone's opinion but i not only did, i shared the video to my son (and probably his brothers when they get home from work) i also got Jak and Daxter as a Christmas present in 2002. my boys spent their time watching mommy play this game, enjoying Daxter's antics and the whole story line.
Getting the movement speed boost with the hoverboard in the Wasteland was soooooo sweet.
Crazy how both fell in love with games on the same exact day, on the same exact year, on the same exact island, without knowing how shared the experience it was.

OH MY GOD THE FISHING MINI GAME MONTAGE WAS SO REAL. THAT SHIT WAS SO HARD.
HERE COMES A BIG ONE
I respect the hell out of the artistry that Breadsword is able to produce. Always worth the wait
The sounds from Jak and Daxter make me nostalgicly emotional every time I hear them
this is me telling you to never delete this video because it is my favorite video on the internet ever, the intro makes me cry without fail and i watch the whole thing every single time
I'm 15 min in and trying not to cry, I know I'm not alone in saying that every step, every moment, and feeling you described (so far) that was me too. You talking about how you just jumped around in the first scene of the game nearly broke me because of how relatable and nostalgic it was
Maybe a loop you overlooked in your analysis:
By making like you mentioned the "age gating" dexterity tests, Naughty dog also puts you through a little montage of your own improvement.
Hm a movie long video essay on games I’ve never heard of? Yeah it’s gonna be a good night
ayyy bless!!

My man, the statues aren't talking about the sequel. They're pretty straightforward in being about the same game their in.
The first one says that Jak has "the light within" and is the "true hero," which just means "yeah you're gonna save the day kid."
The second one talks about how Daxter's form and fate has already been twisted by dark eco, hinting at how maybe Daxter's transformation isn't just physical.
I literally gASPED at the sight of the tittle omg here it comes the best 2 hours of this year✨
BLESS U
@@BREADSWORD bless YOU
Video been out for less than a minute and it's already a classic.
TOO REAL THANK YOU
What I thought I was gonna get: yeah this games story is pretty cool
What I got: A bit of Me is in everything I enjoy, and that means that in a way, a part of me will exist forever
After the first five minutes, I literally forgot I clicked on a Jak and Dexter video
The Jak and Daxter trying time and time again to beat the fish minigame was my first ever sweaty tryhard gamer moment
Yeah that playthrough sequence could not have been more accurate.
This is my 6th rewatch of this video and I think I’m convinced it’s the best video on RUclips
Man, I knew I liked you. My favorite under appreciated movie was what got me on your channel and now my favorite under appreciated games?!?! You sir, have excellent taste
AYYY YOU DO TOO
Saw this pop up in my subs and knew lost 2 hours of my day in an instant lol.
Please don’t overstock making content. I watched this video almost every night, and I love it each and every time thank you so much for talking about one of my most beloved childhood memories and diving into its production references, similarities, and awe inspiring moments, you’re the best bread sword
Dude this is incredible. Jak II and 3 were my childhood. I never had the opportunity to properly play the first one and this video really made me want to try it out. Also I absolutely loved both the intro and outro for this video! Truly impeccable
