Find it quite eerie when there's so money and effort put into places with nobody there, a very liminal space type strangeness. Hope this is a success and doesn't end up as a creepy abandoned theme park in the future

I worked at a Six Flags almost 10 years ago, and I would regularly work until the park closes. There's something very unsettling about walking through the park to my car (which was on the other side of the park) at night, hearing no music and seeing no one there. You would think you would get used to something like that after a while, but I never did.

    • @Hiro_Trevelyan

So I'm a theme park management major - a lot of theme parks in Dubai are a bit like this because they all popped up at about the same time flooding the market and making the entire Dubai theme park market a bit mediocre in the world view. They're interesting concepts, there's just too many of them.

Tim, it's Ramadan at the moment, (I work/live in Middle East, Saudi & UAE) and you will find the locals are very clued up and the locals tend to come out after their Iftar. (Evening meal), in the summer it makes more sense to come out in the dark, when its just really, really hot, rather than in the day when its far hotter than you would believe. (I've seen my phone weather app says "49C feels like 59C" ).

I've been there 3 times on weekdays and there are barely any queues, but totally agree with everything you say about the quality of the theming and some of the rides. Incidentally, most theme parks in the area are the same story on weekdays - the one time I went to Warner Bros Abu Dhabi I remember being in big immersive areas (all indoors) and there were times when I could do a whole 360 degree turn and not see another human in any direction, visitors or staff! Probably not good for their financials though. A ton of money spent on theming, and no customers to pay off the that debt.

Hi Tim Wow the themeing is amazing. I feel it lacks soul as there is no one to give it atmosphere. Shame really it must be costly having it open and no one there. I wish we had themeing like that he in the uk . Thanks for sharing with us love to you as always Tracey 💕 xxxx

If this was built anywhere else in the world and had better budget attractions, I'm sure this park would have been a hit.

The rides are great. The issue is that it's sort of far and has no metro access. Plus Dubai is boiling hot for most of the year (made worse with climate change) and most of the park is outdoor with very little shading.
Plus they haven't expanded the park at all.
So people would only go once or twice and then forget about it.

It's empty because the locals aren't really buying into the Theme Park world. Certainly not enough anyway. We loved the two main parks in Dubai. Motiongate and IMG worlds. Both fantastic parks. It's a real shame about the lack of guests though.

Knowing Dubai I think on 15:18 that was real money dropping into a furnace just for visual effect.

possibly a weird comment.......but this guy sounds like every tv presenter in England rolled into one. it really reminds me of the times of 4 channels and having to watch whatever my parents were watching ; )

Global village and IMG is a good representation of a popular Dubai theme park, not motiongate or any of those parks in the Dubai Parks area since those are 1hr 20m from central Dubai

I have never seen somethinf so detailed and themed in my life but fell so... Empty? The rides look so cool but like you stated in the video, its just so still. I feel like they incorporated more animatronics to the rides and add more "thrilling coasters" it would make the park much better.

It's a damn shame that these attractions aren't in a park here in the States, as most of the IP found in in this park are from the minds of American creators.
