  • Finally, we're driving the all new Ford Focus! This is the ST-Line, and with its tweaked suspension and more aggressive bodywork, it's the most sporty Focus you can buy until the ST and RS arrive. This little hatchback is a big deal for Ford, so have they got it right?

      A tricky decision... 🤔 If there's nothing wrong with the MK3 just stick with it, but when the time comes to move on make sure you test drive the MK4. It's exactly what it needed to be!

    I tested the 1.0 yesterday. And it was really good. And fun, but I need to try the 1.5 because I think the sporty fun st line deserves more power. But the interior, so boring unfortunately. I will se if I can look past that.

    Bought one of these in white a couple of months ago for £18,500 with 1,400 miles on the clock ex-display. Doesn't have all the parking sensor crap & only has the smaller 6.5" touch screen without sat-nav (figured I'd used Apple car play if I needed a navigation system).
    But man I move it, drives like a dream & you can actually do 0 to 60 in about 9 seconds Ford underrates the 123HP engine quite a lot. I have driven cars that cost twice as much & aren't nearly as fun to drive or as quiet either. Makes the older Focuses look tiny in comparison though, it's a really wide car for its segment.

    • @newmotoring
      @newmotoring  5 лет назад

      You got a deal - they're expensive machines new! Apple CarPlay makes nav redundant for some, but not for everyone. But agreed - it's a cracking drive but big compared to the MK1!

    Fabulous! I would personally go for a Titanium rather than an ST Line due to the softer suspension, but the 1.0 litre engine in this car is definitely the car I would prefer. The paint is quite good, isn't it?

      @@newmotoringTest drive now done, I Thought it was very smooth, A bit of sound through the exhaust drove really well for a 3 cylinder, much nicer than the first ever 3 cylinder car I had. Just enough poke for me going to a bigger car for a first time, Although it didn't feel like a big car, you are very close to everything in the car and the Dark roof liner gives you a feeling of being in a much smaller car than you actually are. I would also like to say I have now purchased the ST Line X as there were some extras and the deal ford gave me i just couldn't turn it down. So happy with y purchase. Quick correction to the specs mentioned in the video: both variants of the 1.5 petrol (150ps and 182ps) are three-cylinders. Arguably more characterful than the four-cylinder predecessors but that's pretty subjective and I'll let the professional reviewer make the call there.

    • @BaMbOoZeD
      @BaMbOoZeD 5 лет назад

      Yeah, but it's only on the new engines with three cylinders on a 1.5 petrol, the older ones is still four cylinders.

      @@Henderson10102 Also for mk 3.5 and so on. Also the same for c-max, s-max. But I know this review is for the new focus mk4, but it's still a four cylinder for 18 models 😋 so not all models of the new focus will come with a three cylinder engine. Just like in the new faceliftet Mondeo.

    • @Henderson10102
      @Henderson10102 5 лет назад

      @@BaMbOoZeD Soooo... I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or not as the only 18 models with a 4 cylinder were, again, the mk3. On launch of the mk4, it was a 3 cylinder and this is a review and buying guide to the mk4. No other Ford models, including the older model Focus, Mondeo, C-Max, etc. are relevant to this statement.

    Is there anyone here who drove Focus St (182 HP) and Honda Civic (same power)? Which one you would buy? Thank's! 😄

    • @Henderson10102
      @Henderson10102 5 лет назад +3

      Hi Manuel. I have just bought the 182 petrol which, unlike the review here would suggest, is still a three cylinder. Sadly, I can't speak of the Honda directly, having not driven one, but my friend does own one and also thinks highly of his. For outright driving character whilst retaining enough comfort and refinement on journeys, I'd recommend the Focus. The engine is especially characterful. It also has a much better infotainment system. I like it's placing further up on the dash as well. For practically and (probably) economy, the Honda is your best bet. There is plenty of room in the rear of both cars but the Honda has a huge boot. I don't think there is much in it when comparing interiors... both seem well built, the Honda is little more rugged but, to me, I prefer the design of the Ford.
      For context, I used to drive a 184ps Seat Leon diesel. The Ford doesn't feel quite as quick during casual driving (the substantially lower torque is to blame there) and I'm not impressed by the Ford's real-world economy but refinement was such a huge step up. That would also be true of the Honda but, in that instance, driving dynamics would be a step down.
      Steering in the Ford is tricky to get used to and remains a little detached in the way many electronically assisted systems do but I don't think it's any different in the Honda and is something I'm getting used to.
      Happy shopping!
