In the UK, foreigners are sometimes confused when they hear a British person say "I'm off to Iceland to get some food" as Iceland is a supermarket that sells a lot of frozen goods 😂
Ten years ago, for a significant birthday my sons gave me a hand made card with a little ticket to Iceland in it. I first thought it was a shopping voucher, then they said it was to the country, then they said they were coming too, and my OH. It was just for a long weekend but we packed such a lot into it. We did the circuit in the area around Reykjavik, hiring a car. The landscape was so amazing, so different. It was expensive to eat and drink out, but we had a self catering flat. Now that was funny, I had checked out the flat beforehand, so had made preparations for the surprise I left for the menfolk. When you sat on the sofa in you had a view either side of the TV straight into the bathrooms which had clear glass doors! My son said, we can't stay here! I had a black bin bag which I had cut in half and smoothed on to the glass. It worked like a charm. The cleaners laughed like mad when they saw that! We were lucky, there were very few visitors when we were there.
just so you know...Canada used to be joined to Scotland, its made of the same rocks and Iceland is the volcano that split Canada from Scotland js dude...
I've been to Iceland twice, once about eleven years ago on my own, and again last October with my wife to celebrate her birthday. I'd been to the Blue Lagoon before, but last year we went to the Sky Lagoon with its infinity pool on the coast just outside Reykjavik. We did eventually get to see the Northern Lights too. I hired a car on the most recent trip, which worked out a lot cheaper than booking on official excursions, and driving is nice because the traffic is so light outside of Reykjavik.
the blue lagoon did wonders for my skin, it felt like id been scrubbed with gentle sandpaper. plus it didn't feel crowded at all as everyone is there for relaxion.
Spent the best holiday of my life in Iceland, staying in a log cabin 5 minutes away for from the great geyser. Forget your bottled water when you are there, they have the nicest tap water I've ever tasted. Don't worry about the lagoon been too busy, it's not busy compared to anywhere else you might have visited. It's used more by locals than anyone else. Another great thing about Iceland for you is the fact the English is their second language, If you are planning a night out, just be aware some of their bars don't open till 10pm and don't really get bust till after midnight...they are a late night/early morning party people
Ethan you lucky lucky sod :) I am so jealous, the population is slightly more than the city which I live 4 miles out of, you have been through it actually, just below York about 30 minutes. I have flown over Iceland and would love to go there, you are obviously made up about going and rightly so, I'm sure that you have a wonderful time and come back with some stunning footage for all to see, genuinely I am really made up for you, travel is such a gift, that might sound a silly thing to say, but I have loved the travelling I have been lucky enough to do, take care and enjoy every moment of it, I can only imagine that it will make you even more hungry for travel :)
Iceland is so awesome. I went on my own for a couple of weeks a few years ago at a similar time of year to you and it was still mega snowy and you could still see the northern lights. I loved it so much. I'd love to go back in the summer to see the contrast.
Iceland is just ridiculously beautiful. It caught my heart 12 years ago and I've lost count how many times I've been back there. There are a few days left of the current Aurora season so you might get lucky with the seeing them, but regardless have an amazing time. Skál!
Home to one of the largest colonies in the UK, puffins have lived on the Farne Islands for decades, thanks to good local sources of food, a lack of ground predators such as rats, and the availability of suitable nesting areas. In the summer months there are around 21,000 puffins on the island of Skomer in the Marloes Peninsula in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Next to Skomer is Skokholm Island that is also a favourite with seabirds including razorbills, guillemots, manx shearwaters and a strong colony of puffins.
I recommend Ísafjörður in the Westfjords, that is the place where my mother's family is from... and is also the reason I have little to no luck with dating in Iceland... so many people are too closely related to me because of my family trees.
Just to let you know, we did the whole island in a day and it was shattering, the drive was stunning, but you can't drive round the whole island in a day, we set off at 10am and got back to our place at 5am the next morning
Enjoy Iceland is a fabulous place, so safe really keen on sport too. Akureyri is wonderful, wish we had had more time there but we were on a cruise. Reykjavik is amazing so much to see. It is expensive at times but the food is great and I have never felt so safe. I live in Wales and Iceland was always top of my bucket list. The roads are so quiet so driving should be enjoyable. Have a great time. One tip visit the tourist centres the amount of free information available is really good.
When I went to the Blue Lagoon there were only about 7 other people in there... It depends on the time of year and day. I went in the morning. I recommend.
I’m so envious! I so want to go to Iceland! Land of my forefathers! I’m 4th generation Canadian. My great-grandfather and grandmother arrived from Iceland in around November, 1885 from Thinglavir (sp?), Huslavik. NOVEMBER! Winter starts up here [we’re above Minnesota and North Dakota) at that time of year.). They almost died. Fortunately (obviously) not. Have a super-great trip. Looking forward to seeing your vids.
Went with my kids in November last year. It's beautiful. Definitely recommend the Blue Lagoon. Iceland has to import almost everything, so it is hellish expensive

Iceland is fabulous. When you first land it really smells but after 5 minutes you get use to it. Well worth a visit. I went during the height of Winter to see the Nothern Lights. I would like to go back in summer. Enjoy the trip, the people are great and very funny. They have similar humour to the Brits but the are more forthright.
In order to populate the land, Viking men bought female slaves in Yorvik ( York in what is now England), not necassily English, but from Stathclyde, Wales (it was bigger then) and possibly Mercia - so Iceland has a lot of Brit DNA as well as Norwegian and Danish - its in the Old Icelandic Sagas so this is not a secret. Things were different then I guess

I spent a week there a few years ago, and although I didn't get to visit the central or the eastern part of the island, Reykjavik is a splendid small city with much to offer, and the Golden Circle is amazing. Between March and June 2010 a series of volcanic events at Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland caused enormous disruption to air travel across Western Europe. Repeat after me Eyjafjallajökull.
Where does the name Wick come from? The name comes from Norse vik, meaning a bay. The town first grew up north of the river: in the 19th century the fishing port of Pulteney was established. Wick John O' Groats Airport is located one nautical mile north of the town of Wick, at the north-eastern extremity of the mainland of Scotland.

There is a very unique visitor attraction in Reykjavik.....The Icelantic Phallological Museum..... or commonly called the penis museum. Sounds creapy but actually a interesting place to visit
Hello Ethan and Angela. Since you mentioned UK TV adverts last time, everyone here knows not just what beans means, but that mum's gone to Iceland, so you seem to have got this the wrong way round? The population is descended from Norse and celtic people, so I always imagine the folk being like northern English, especially since the fishing boats here are still like the Viking ones they were developed from. I am glad to say though that the buried fermented whale shark is all theirs and we do not have to worry about volcanic eruptions. I am sure Ethan will love it. As for tearing off handles, I once went to meet my girlfriend's parents with her at a pub. They locked the door earlier than closing. I went to let in my girlfriend, only to find myself holding the long handle with screws in, having pulled it out of the door both top and bottom. The door was opened and I presented it to the doorman politely.
I know what you mean about the tourist trap type thing but pretty sure there's other hot springs all over the place. Never been myself but I remember a great scene in cky2k which was bam from jackass visiting with friends and looked good. Just remember the video with your misses in Edinburgh up Arthurs seat that I went up one time thinking it would be quiet only to be absolute smothered in people haha. I understood then why people can feel claustrophobic
Greetings from Iceland :) I hope you will have good weather while you are staying here. Sadly the winter has been teasing us lately for not willing to leave :) If you will bee needing any help or information dont hesitate to cantact me :) Blue Lagoon is amazing but I would rather go to the lagoon close to Mývatn, its much more isolatet ;)
Well you are a happy young man. Out of ALL your videos I don't think I hav3 seen you smile so much. I've been to britain loads of time but Iceland out does it everything. It's a pity your not going in June or July when the weather is better. I've been to Iceland 7 times now and there are still places I've not seen. Did you know Starr wars and game of thrones where also filmed there. Anyway I hope you enjoy yourself and remember to take tonnes of photos and videos.
Well, I definitely got your destination wrong! I thought Switzerland was a possibility, as I know you've mentioned it before, but not Iceland. Have a fantastic time - am looking forward to the footage already.
Oh man you're going to love it - such a shame Angie couldn't go! I was lucky enough to visit Iceland about 6 years ago, and this time of year you might be able to see the Northern Lights. Just being there feels like you're living in a fairy tale. Just a few tips for you mate ; Budget well for eating out. If you like fish you're in luck - it's cheap and there are some brilliant fish restaurants in Rekjavik, but some things (like steak and certain types of fruit) can be expensive. When you get the chance drink the local beer - imported beers in a bar can be really dear! Talking of food - Iceland makes some very interesting candy! They were one of the first nations to add sea-salt to choc bars and caramel, they also do great liquorice. Make sure you bring back some for Angie and the kids! Hallgrimskirkja and the National Museum are definately worth a visit. Driving is a pleasure in Iceland (no traffic jams!) but don't drive too fast - as the name implies, Iceland can get a bit icy! And I'm sure you've thought of this - but make sure you pack warming clothing, good boots and gloves especially. And make sure you get lots of footage to share! Enjoy!
@@midwestamericans3806 one last thing I forgot to mention - when you're on the Golden Circle, look out for little 1-2 foot high houses - they are for the 'Little People' (Icelandic superstition/myth). And don't laugh at them - the Little People will play pranks on you otherwise!
Ask them if the rest of Europe can have some of its fish back that Icelandic factory trawlers keep taking. Great if one likes the Frozen at sea fish fillets (Cod, Coley and Haddock) that floods the rest of Europe and Fish Fingers in the UK.
Went to Iceland last year, lovely place, Just a trip to Reykjavik with plans to hire a camper to go around the island next time. Don't forget to try out Braud & Co for the pastries and I also enjoy Reykjavik Roasters for my morning coffee.
We went this time last year. I think as an American, you will be shocked that most big super markets shut for the whole Easter w/e, including Thursday and Monday, so plenty of planning is needed!
The Blue Lagoon is actually full-on industrial run-off, and is causing significant damage to the surrounding ecosystem. There are swimming pools, mostly geothermal, all over the country. The Blue Lagoon is interesting, but can be missed. In general, that video looks like it might have been produced by the Reykjavík tourism board - including some characteristic inaccuracies. I'm on a part of the island that the ring road doesn't cover - otherwise I would have offered to talk your ears off about Iceland's history. :D
"It's so pretty" -"It's huge!" ...that's one way to start a video lol Jokes aside, you guys are really cute and you are very welcome to visit any time. :)
i been to the blue logoon tonns of times and if only the two of you want to make it more privat and special you should go there in the evening during winter to avoid the turists ! in the the nightskyes its amasing ps icecaves are dangerous ! i wouldnt go !
Drive safely, but I have heard their prison is "nice". 🤣 Just imagine being one of the first settlers there and discovering all these places as you explored the island.
It wouldnt be my first choice to be honest, as i just cannot stand the cold❄️❄️❄️, i always admired those people climbing Everest, not the feat itself but the weather conditions must make it so gruelling ❄️❄️❄️
Iceland actually has a relatively stable temperature, with temperatures usually only going a little below freezing. Inland temperatures in large portions of the US regularly go far below what's usual here. On the other side of the scale, however, summer temperatures also don't go anywhere near as high as they might inland.
If you want tips of where to go I'm a local and I'm willing to help. The woman that threatened to throw herself off the waterfall was closely related to me on my father's side.
When we went, we waded out through the bit near the bars where most people stay and had an ethereal experience. Even knowing it is an outflow was really interesting. Not being a fan of being in water on the whole, I loved the experience and the feel under the feet of whatever it was. I wouldn't have missed it.
Make sure the wallet or card is well stuffed as not exactly the cheapest country in Europe, oh, please do something with that hair, it looks like a very bad syrup. You may be lucky enough to see the Northern lights as most active around the equinoxes. They were even visible from the South of England and Ireland recently.

Sadly the winter has been teasing us lately for not willing to leave :) If you will bee needing any help or information dont hesitate to cantact me :)
Blue Lagoon is amazing but I would rather go to the lagoon close to Mývatn, its much more isolatet ;)
Wowa congrats on going to Iceland. ❤
Interested to see your videos of Iceland. i'm planning a trip from UK next year if possible.
Well, I definitely got your destination wrong! I thought Switzerland was a possibility, as I know you've mentioned it before, but not Iceland. Have a fantastic time - am looking forward to the footage already.
Oh man you're going to love it - such a shame Angie couldn't go! I was lucky enough to visit Iceland about 6 years ago, and this time of year you might be able to see the Northern Lights. Just being there feels like you're living in a fairy tale. Just a few tips for you mate ;
Budget well for eating out.
Enjoy!
Yea, thankfully, I have some experience on icy roads, so hopefully, that will help if needed. Thank you for sharing all this info. It definitely helps
“Locals” are banned from studying geology lest the legends die.
Have a great trip mate ,looks amazing.
Have a great trip
Secret lagoon cost 25% of Blue lagoon to etter.
Good to know thanks!
We went early to the blue lagoon, it wasn't busy and we loved it
Also be aware some of their roads go from tarmac to gravel so a 4X4 might be a good option for a rental
I thought you were going to the Iceland Stores in the UK. The Video look like places in Scotland.
April will still be cold and dark - I have been mid winter and mid summer and enjoyed both but if I had to choose it would be mid summer and no dark .
There's plenty of geothermal energy in Iceland, they don't need hydro as well.
Iceland is def on my bucket lists ❤
Hi! Maybe one day you guys visit up north to Canada???? Would be nice to see vids on Canada! Great channel!
Would love to!
Canada looks amazing, wed love to visit there someday
The Blue Lagoon is actually full-on industrial run-off, and is causing significant damage to the surrounding ecosystem. There are swimming pools, mostly geothermal, all over the country. The Blue Lagoon is interesting, but can be missed.
In general, that video looks like it might have been produced by the Reykjavík tourism board - including some characteristic inaccuracies.
I'm on a part of the island that the ring road doesn't cover - otherwise I would have offered to talk your ears off about Iceland's history. :D
Have been a few times I love Iceland 👍😀
Just a coiple tips. Take plenty of money. It's not the cheapest place to visit. Don't go to any bars .
It a wonderful place with great people
Live in Iceland ☺️ sky lagoon is better than the blue lagoon in my opinion ☺️
Four days in Reykjavik ? Go out of there right away
I can recommend the channel Just Icelandic to see more views of this amazing landscape and get some insights in the culture.
Good channel that!
Don’t go in the Blue Lagoon, It crowded
"It's so pretty"
-"It's huge!"
...that's one way to start a video lol
Jokes aside, you guys are really cute and you are very welcome to visit any time. :)
a 4WD vehicle with spiked winter tires
i been to the blue logoon tonns of times and if only the two of you want to make it more privat and special you should go there in the evening during winter to avoid the turists ! in the the nightskyes its amasing
ps icecaves are dangerous ! i wouldnt go !
I hope they never set-up safety signs & barriers 🚧 everywhere! Round the raw beauty. Tourists need to learn to be more careful.
Drive safely, but I have heard their prison is "nice". 🤣
Just imagine being one of the first settlers there and discovering all these places as you explored the island.
You don't need to dam up all the waterfalls when you can just build a neat little nuclear power plant and produce 100× as much power.
Where's the trees?
It wouldnt be my first choice to be honest, as i just cannot stand the cold❄️❄️❄️, i always admired those people climbing Everest, not the feat itself but the weather conditions must make it so gruelling ❄️❄️❄️
Well I prefer the cold and mountains myself so hopefully it's not to bad.
Iceland actually has a relatively stable temperature, with temperatures usually only going a little below freezing. Inland temperatures in large portions of the US regularly go far below what's usual here. On the other side of the scale, however, summer temperatures also don't go anywhere near as high as they might inland.
You will have cellular data all over the country unless you are in isolated places surrounded by mountains.
Have you seen the weather forecast? I'm afraid it's set to piss it down the entire time. 😢
Haha yea I see that now, but hard to plan around the rain.
If you want tips of where to go I'm a local and I'm willing to help.
The woman that threatened to throw herself off the waterfall was closely related to me on my father's side.
I'm on your Discord channel using this name, and I also sent you a message on IG from my personal account
How did you get to do this trip without the misses?😲. can you give me a tip on how to get away with that.?
Lol to many kids to deal with and my sister is getting married so had to stay local this time.
Don't bother with the blue lagoon. Just touristy and actually just the outflow of a power station
Good to know thank you
When we went, we waded out through the bit near the bars where most people stay and had an ethereal experience. Even knowing it is an outflow was really interesting. Not being a fan of being in water on the whole, I loved the experience and the feel under the feet of whatever it was. I wouldn't have missed it.
What is difficult about "Hallgrímskirkja" ? ...Hall..grims....kirkja............hallgrimskirkja just use y instead of j .
Hi honey, I’m going to Iceland without you.
What?
And if you thought England was expensive
Your going in April, there won't be many tourists at all
Make sure the wallet or card is well stuffed as not exactly the cheapest country in Europe, oh, please do something with that hair, it looks like a very bad syrup.
You may be lucky enough to see the Northern lights as most active around the equinoxes. They were even visible from the South of England and Ireland recently.
Do not buy cakes or water in Iceland...............
Skip Reykjavik
I don't know what you've done to yourself in this vid mate but you look really gay lol I love you both your great, there's always a bed and welcome for you both here in Plymouth Devon UK, keep up the good work and being yourselves 😀
Sad you decided to watch a video from a non icelandic person, who clearly is lying about a few things, but i hope you enjoyed your stay in our country
If you ever want to come to Switzerland contact me. I will he happy to show you around 😊
